Heard from one of my sources that Jay Boothroyd
Is about to be released from his contract at
QPR! Surely this would be striker to get!

Leeroy! MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Did you see him for Sheffield Wednesday? no thanks, couple of years ago yes, but not now

Agree0 Disagree0

He left QPR as his contract clause allowed him to leave if relegated, so why would he sign for us and move from London to stay in the same league, makes no sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2013 21:18:10
Bothroyd released from QPR come on now Leeds!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No thanks he is sh*te

No! Hopeless striker, made his name by having 1 good season at Cardiff. We need someone who can do it regular, is under 30 and won't be expecting Premiership wages

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes come on leeds! Learn your lessons and don't buy another Warnock favourite!

For gods sake will everyone calm down. The transfer window hasn't officially opened yet and we are all panicking saying there is no money. Brian knows who he wants and will get them. He many job offers but took this so he must lnow something we all dont. So let's all shut up and complain on the last day of the window if we don't sign anyone. Besides all that in my opinion take a gamble on tom pope. Forget ex prem players looking for a caah cow. VALLEYS WHITE. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Most on here wouldn't be happy if they didn't moan about something Leeds related. I bet most of them never even get to Elland Road.

If we sell Byram it will be 5 million max, there is no way Brian would have told the public about the meeting, If things were going well transfer wise. But I get the feeling Mcd is not a man to be messed about. let's face it Brian is not a manager who asks for buckets off money, at Reading his biggest buy was half a million in the championship. But I can't help thinking that yesterday's announcement says to other clubs come and offer for our best players because things aren't going well money wise. The thing that worries me most is the last time GFH did a investment deal they said more would quickly fallow nothing has but pure silence

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have thought myself about what would or could be said after the meeting today. There are so many connotations there are too many to list. I would like to think that if it went well then it would not be announced because that would broadcast we have money to spend. So I hope over the next week we will see some signings.

20 Jun 2013 17:04:35
can someone tell me why harvey and williams are in the same roles that they were in under bates?, why are we still being run the same way as under bates?, why IF GFH are the real owners then how comes we have no money again?, why are we still waiting for decent signings instead of freebees and loans?, something stinks here, I know some will say the transfer market has a long way to go yet but GFH told us they they were sorry that they missed the last summer transfer window but would be ready for the jan window, what did they do then?, nothing apart from getting rid of our top scorer and making a profit, no decent signings to mention, I for one am sick of all the b******t that comes out of elland rd, we deserve a lot better than this, we are a big club being run by small time crooks, mot.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your absolutely spot on with this comment. GFH are Bates incognito.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rein yourself in mate, transfer window opens 1 July, no cash deals until then still plenty of time. sick and tired of hearing we have no money from people who know naff all MOT Ron

Agree0 Disagree0

Rein myself in, lol I said there is a long way to go but the past has told us so much about how this club is being run, so I might know naff all as you say but nor do you Ron but at least mine is an educated guess not blind faith like you MATE

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to know how your comment is an 'educated guess' rather than just a pessimistic approach?
AntW

Agree0 Disagree0

Like you said I don't know what is going on either, but I don't stick the boot in to the owners or the club without facts or need.
You are entitled to your opinion and as you say it is only an educated guess. I wasn't particularly having a go at you, but at all the negative comments on this site is worrying.
As yet, the owners have done well, reducing ticket prices and bringing in a good manager. Let's give them the chance to show their ambition in the next month or so. If they don't deliver then is the time to moan.
However, I get the impression that if we don't get big names in people will moan anyway. People are deluded about where the club is. It's going to take a monumental effort getting us back into the Premier League but I am an optimist and hope BMD can do it. MOT Ron.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whilst there is a divide between what fans believe is going on I feel we should ALL wait until the transfer window opens before making assumptions of this club we 'supposedly' love. MOT SussexLeeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Based on experience it pays to have a pessimistic approach if you support Leeds. Optimists must get such a smack in the teeth as every transfer window ends with our best player going to Norwich and nobody decent coming in. BMD tried to force GFH to fund transfers and deliberately went public with it - the silence is deafening

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster,. my pessimistic approach as you called it is based on facts so far, didn't they tell us they were sorry they missed the last summer window?didn't they tell us they would be ready for they jan window?, come on tell me i'm wrong, i'm only going by what has happened so far, if they do bring in some decent players without selling off byram or lees then I would be the first to hold my hands up, and one last thing why can no one tell me why harvey and williams are in the same roles as b4 under bates, I would be very grateful if someone could answer these questions, thanks, mot

Agree0 Disagree0

There are always personic, blind negative comments on this website, is a little faith too much for? if not, go to LUST meetings and moan there, its all they seem to do

Agree0 Disagree0

We have been taken for the most gullibe fans in the land by our club that have broken promise after promise, and we are expected to have faith in them, come on, there is only so much b******t anyone can be asked to take, the owners do nothing to assure the fans, we hear nothing from them at all, this is why the fanbase is split,

Agree0 Disagree0

The fanbase is split due to the fickle fans trying to take an exception and it gets them nowhere

Looks like it's going to be the bargain bucket season again. When oh when are we going to see some PROOF of concrete investment in the playing staff. The league is looking weak and with the right investment I feel we go to another level. GFH, cheque book out time please.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2013 15:25:28
If the rumours about byram are true and the price is between 8 and 10 million, i'd say take the money. he's had a great debut season but its silly money for him. We could invest 5 or 6 million in the areas we need and stay afloat pretty well or maybe hold some funds back for january. don't lose faith people if he goes, and remember every club in the championship is a selling club when big teams come calling. Mcdermott is an astute manager and best we have had in a while, looking forward to august and I will be there against brighton whoever leeds sign or don't sign. MOT, Vinny.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we sell byram then it shows we have no ambition and besides BMd will hardly see a penny of the cash, this club is being run so badly, bates and GFH are running this club into the ground, time for them all to go, and take harvey and williams with them, because this is the same old rubbish that we have been made to put up with for the last 8-9 years

Agree0 Disagree0

Our club in big trouble if if takes a meeting announced in the media (what of doing business quietly behind closed doors?) in order to determine if funds are there for player acquisitions. Weren't these talks conducted weeks ago? Sounds like BMd wants an update that hasn't so far been provided and that's because there's no money and the owners just couldn't face him to tell him straight so BMd had to pressure them. BMd getting embarassed now. Barry Fry is a clown but he's also right. I can see BMd walking. GFH are pathetic. There'll be a fan backlash.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why not just wait and see the outcome of the meeting, people on here have been whining about transparency for yonks, now you have it your still whining, and Barry Frys a chancer, trying to bump up the price and interest in his players, let's see the outcome of the meeting before all the doom and gloom.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chill out, everyone go's on holiday this time of year, there is still two weeks before the deadline opens. worry when there is 24 hours left and we have no one

I'm chilled for now but if there is No Green Light and nothing is happening after July 1st and Brian is not being backed then expect an almighty backlash MOT

Surely we should go for Jay Bothroyd as he's free. What a signing he would be, but in all honesty I really don't think that he would come, even if we wanted him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This post doesn't make sense, sign a player who doesn't want to come, even if we wanted him. Go lie down mate

Agree0 Disagree0

People need to realise that free doesn't not mean free. Do you think he had a normal wage at QPR I very much doubt it. He will go where the biggest pay check is and that is not going to be us

Agree0 Disagree0

O. p here. just a quick note to first reply who told me to lie down. I think you should learn to read and then read my post again. I said we should go for him, not that would. sign him. now you go lie down and read your ABC book and come back on when you are able to get involved in an adult conversation.

Its hard to find someone who can do it but is also free and on low wages, minute you get one premier league teams come and offer 10k a week more! Clayton was good at ball retention, should have kept him until we had someone better at that role

News coming from ER isn't good. GFH have informed BM that the investment in the club hasn't arrived and therefore he is unable to complete deals

Looking more likelybSam Byram will have to be sold to fund new players

Just as bad as the Bates Era now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hate people that speculate negativity on social network sites.

Agree0 Disagree0

It still is the Bates era, GFH was brought in as smoke screen. That's my theory lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats quick, your dooming and glooming

Agree0 Disagree0

People love causing s*it on this site stop making stuff up and get a life I know their will be money ready to spend when the transfer window opens and i'm 100% sure of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I don't think it would be the end of the world if we did sell Byram, especially for some of the silly figures I've seen banded around. B Mc seems like a shrewd character to me and I would trust him to bring in some quality players with these funds.

Showdown talks today, which way do you think gfh will go? Personally I can't see them not giving him mcd the money as these talks have now been made public!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Depends on whether they are going to sell Byram?

Agree0 Disagree0

Public or not they can't give him what they don't have. I think BMD went public to try and reach a compromise hoping he might get one or two

Agree0 Disagree0

The talks were last night as mcdermott was saying on yorkshire radio

GFH? More like BFH on bullseye, they can't afford there bus fare home!

I think what we lack more than anything is creativity in the centre. We need a play maker, someone comfortable on the ball who can take people on but also effectively bring other players into the game.

The reason we let in some many goals last season was mainly down to our lack of ball retention. Whenever we cleared the ball, possession would break down far too easily and it would come straight back at us.

Our defenders as individual players are decent/good but if the opposition are attacking for the majority of the game - your going to concede.

We need 1 or 2 players who love the ball, who want it no matter wherever they are on the pitch. Have a bit of composure and confidence.

BMD will not tolerate hoofball so hopefully he can see we need more creativity. I actually think we have a decent squad but they are all workman like, no nonsense kind of players, 1 or 2 creative sparks as well as 20 goal a season striker and I think we could challenge for promotion.

Also in my opinion Byram should be pushed onto the wing, He should be encouraged whenever possible go at the full back - he's at that age where is fearless and his raw speed and ability would scare most full backs to death. let's not beat the creativity out of him, give him a license to attack and I'm positive he will make even more of an impact bombing down the wing.

Maybe someone like Adam Clayton or Johnny Howson?

Clayton and/or Howson? Don't think so.
Howson too inconsistent and light weight Clayton not a Leeds supporter anymore.

I think Mcdermott should be given some credit for keeping us the fans up to date. From recent statements its clear he has a list of the players he wants / areas he needs to improve, he is advanced talks with said players and is waiting for the green light to make the signings. I know not very exciting news but at least we know where we are.

This clarification is what us the fans need. With Warnock and Bates we have been left in the dark so many times. How many times did we get ' we are looking at certain players' and that was it. We were not given the whole picture and tbh that is still the case but Mcdermott being an intelligent and honorable man knows Leeds fans deserve honesty and clarity, and he will give it to us.

I'm confident Brian is the man and its now over to the board to support him which I think they will. Brian must of been promised some funds or why else would he want the job, yes we are a 'big' club but still you would presume certain promises were made.

So a slight improvement but Leeds please keep us in the know more, after all we are the life blood of the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't help feeling that BMD is trying to cover his rear end as far as the fans are concerned. At least we know he is having this meeting today and if the transfer targets are willing to join us then only one thing stopping it happen - money.

Agree0 Disagree0

You meab yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster here - to the second poster, that had cross my mind and I'm afraid you could be right - he doesn't want to be shown up, so maybe, like you say, BMD letting everyone know what's really going on. The optimist in me disagrees but.

i really cannot belive we were not in to sign dale jennings the winger who was at b munich they really rated him and did not want him to leave but he was home sick barnsley signed him for 300,000 he will rip up the championship next season why oh why can we not compete with a club like barnsley very disapointed thoughts please ps we need wide players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more - far too good for Barnsley and 300k was a steal

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says the summer transfer targets are in place and want to sign for the club; he just needs the go ahead from the owners and the chief executive.

McDermott told Yorkshire Radio that he is having a meeting this evening with chief executive Shaun Harvey and one of the club owners and he is looking for clarification to get the deals done.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, McDermott said, "I have a meeting tonight with Shaun Harvey and one of the owners and I need the clarification on where we are at because that is really important.

"The targets are in place and I know the players that we are trying to get want to come to the club, it is just a matter of doing the deals now.

"I need to get clarification that the deals can be done and we want to do them. "

So far this summer, McDermott has signed League One striker Matt Smith from Oldham Athletic on a free transfer.

This was taken from a website quoting on last nights interview. I like his eagerness and willing to get these boys signed, just not sure about when he said speaking to the owner to see where we are at?

Thoughts?

BMD has spoken with a number of players that apparently want to play for us, He's just waiting on confirmation from the owners to give them a formal offer. Don't know who but, my guess: Hunt, Rowe, Mills and hopefully a few surprises like Smith

McD is reported to be in talks this evening with Harvey and one of owners about "getting the go ahead to start signing of players who want to come to Leeds". McD states he has these deals ready to go now following discussions with the players and agents.

This is where we will see how serious & ambitious GFH are in moving Leeds United toward premiership return. I really hope McD gets the green light to bring in HIS targets. Elland Road needs to be rocking this coming season and GFH should have worked it out by now investment in the squad is No1 priority to bring the fans back.

I really hope the rumours about bringing Anthony Stokes in are not true, he has done very little to convince me he is a quality player who will improve Leeds United team. Same with Pennant, the man is way past his best and lacks desire to produce week in week out. Gary Taylor Fletcher would be good for us. Shame Lijha has gone to Forest. C'mon GFH show us some ambition.

Northumberland LUFC

Believable0 Unbelievable0

BMcD has been very clever cause now if we don't make signings we all know it's not his fault and it's purely down to the owners not investing!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pennant? - If you mean Jermaine he signed a new deal at Stoke but would have been brilliant at Leeds, as if we could afford his wages
