"I want to put on record that I have never asked to leave the Leeds United, nor did I reject an offer for a new contract, since one was never put to me."
Kasper Schmeichel
Quotes of the week from Sky Sports.Com

Why are we selling one of our better players especially to one of our main rivals and for a measly £1m, it just goes to show that Larry and KB have no ambition.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Agreed! Disgraceful behaviour by the club

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Jun 2011 22:18:24
What is going on at ER? Kasper states the first he heard about a transfer was on Sky Sports. Sky Sports report he spoke with Larry and he said the offer was too good to refuse!! Kasper wants to stay at Leeds. I would rather have him than Jason Brown. I'd take Westwood as a replacement, but he's Sunderland bound. I hope this deal isn't to fund the notion of Woody, Smudge or Bowyer.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I have my suspicions but then again how is £1m going to fund their wages or whatever when the likes of Smudge are currently on £60k at Newcastle hmmmm

Agree1 Disagree1

Agreed. Selling to one of our rivals is ridiculous. There are some good teams in the championship this year and to make them stronger by selling our better players could mean a long season this year.

20 Jun 2011 22:16:14
With the Schmeichel bid accepted with only a low offer given maybe grayson is offloading him because of his high wages to open up room for players like Smith and Woodgate to join with their higher wages.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Possible - does anyone know what schmeichel was on a week?

Agree0 Disagree2

Schmeichel is on 14k a week - he's the second highest earner at leeds, however he did take a wage drop from what he earned at notts county.

I think this is Alan Smiths last chance to come back to Leeds and be a hero if he goes to another championship club or anywhere else for that matter I think I speak for most fans he won't be welcome back. Come back now Smith and be a legend.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I am pretty certain Mr Smith will be back in a Leeds shirt

Schmeichel is a unfaithful, lieing. He said 7 months ago that he wasnt in football for the money and thats why he didny stay at city. But he has now gone to lecister for higher wages, when we finished above them. LIER!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

20 Jun 2011 21:32:18
KASPER WANTS TO STAY AT LEEDS & HE DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE OFFER FROM LEICESTER & KB HAS ACCEPTED REGARDLESS! WE NEED TO KEEP OUR BETTER PLAYERS! ALSO HE SAID THAT HE HAS NOT REJECTED A NEW CONTRACT OFFER FROM LEEDS AS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN IN TALKS YET!!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2011 21:27:16
i now hate schmeicel, he is a unfaithful peice of rubbish. hes not even that good! :l

Believable0 Unbelievable6

Get your facts right before you comment.
why is he unfaithful ?
he had no say in leeds accepting the bid did he..
also, we never offered him a new contract so what can he do ?
idiot

Agree3 Disagree1

Think you will find kaspers agent had a lot to do with this. Looking for a more than healthy increase in salary that Leeds could just not afford. There is spin on this issue from BOTH sides

Kasper has NOT signed for Leicester - YET!! Read the facts, we have accepted an offer, that means nowt till everyone signs on the dotted lines

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2011 21:22:55
Kasper has just signed for Leicester for an undisclosed fee. I have been told the fee was too good to turn down especially only having 1 year left on deal. Plus we could not compete with wages bonuses etc.
============
... he hasn't signed yet as he is considering is options and wants to stay at leeds.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2011 21:08:19
Leeds looking to bring David Seaman and John Lukic out of retirement to solve the current goalkeeping crisis. The only stumbling block could be wages. I have it on close authority this is why Simon Grayson is so keen to retain Billy Paynter ... as goal keeping cover.

Marching On to League 1.

Looks to me like Kasper is telling the truth and Bates is coming out with yet more bull. The man is an embarassment to our club. He really needs to go and let someone take over who has the interests of the club at heart. MOT.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Both are probably telling the truth. Kasper was not pursing an extension after the end of next season and agent is looking for extra cash. If he went then the club would get nothing. Bad business (see Beckford, Johnson and Kilkenny). Kasper hasn't been offered another contract as there is no basis for one. An extension was unlikely due to the demands. Typical situation in football today. Nobody comes out squeaky clean.

20 Jun 2011 21:07:48
We will loose out on all our top targets as we can't compete with the big clubs in this league

Believable1 Unbelievable2

20 Jun 2011 21:01:06
Kasper says he wanted to stay one more season and would sign a new contract if we got promoted. If not he would leave for free. So KB and SG decided to take low offer from Sven in hope of creating an auction with bigger clubs looking at him. Two conclusions either we have had more joy with Westwood than most people think or KB and SG concede we will be unlikely to gain promotion with the strengh of sqad we have next season. Kasper is a great shot stopper but poor on crosses I really hope Browne is not next seasons number 1

Believable2 Unbelievable0

To the Leeds fans who have said they will continue to follow Leeds utd through thick and thin even though you can't really afford it thats what makes us Leeds fans special does ken bates appreciate it no will Simon grayson fight our corner no will he hell we fight our own corner and I thought simon was a Leeds fan there was a song when we played leicester they sang Simon grayson is a leicester fan he played for them he sells them our best players on the cheap

Believable1 Unbelievable1

As previous posters have already mentioned...Kasper issued a statement on Twitter saying "Last year, club and myself had agreement to honour my contract....i want to put on record i have not asked to leave......i was enjoying being a Leeds player and was looking forward to winning promotion next season.....Grayson has made it clear that in spite of me playing well, it is something in the best interest of LUFC."

Sounds like he's being pushed.

Hopefully Grayson wakes up and realises Schmeichel is a quality goalkeeper even if they have offered 1Million plus I believe Kasper is prem class it was just our defence that made him look bad I think he must have someone from the prem and more experienced lined up to of agreed a new deal like that behind his back! MOT thanks & goodbye Kasper!!!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 Jun 2011 20:36:17
To the fella saying that Leeds would only be signing 3 players next season.I hope your wrong mate, unless one of them atleast is a bl**dy good goalie. We look a bit thin in that department now schmeicel looks like he's going and I know smith is very versatile, but not even he'd step into Kasper's shoes !!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Lol re the smith comment! ha ha got to see the bright side amongst the madness eh

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2011 20:33:18
If what Kasper has said on SSN is true then both BATES and GRAYSON should be OUT. This is a disgrace why are we forcing a quality, loyal player to leave. This lad should be given a 10 year contract not sold to the tin pot club of the midlands. 'Undisclosed sum' - sick of this phrase i want proper values given we have a right to know.
I Hope Kasper Sticks two fingers up at Bates and Grayson - refuses to leave - gets us promoted and either leaves on a free or gets a long term new contract.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2011 20:31:14
According to Skjy Sports Schmeichel is shocked that Leeds have accepted an offer from Leicester for his transfer. That doesn't surprise me as I am quite sure Leicester wouldn't appeal to him anyway - they're a less attractive proposition than Leeds. I'm pretty sure he would fancy a bigger club and I'm also pretty sure that Leeds have broken the news to alert other (bigger) clubs so that we get a realistic offer for him - the £1 million quoted is a nonsense.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2011 20:29:51
Just read kaspers statement and all i can say is this is an absolute joke and just goes to show ken bates is in it for the money and as far as im concerend has no ambition to take leeds forward. F*CK OFF BATES AND GRAYSON .

Believable3 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2011 20:27:07
Kasper has just released a statement on Twitter. He is not happy. He has not been offered a new contract and he wanted to at least see his contract through. Just another case of bates making money. Maybe he signed him knowing that he could keep him a year, sell him on and replace with rubbish. I for one have had enough of bates. I will be at elland road next year(paying £35 a ticket for championship football) with my love Leeds hate bates banner! Get the southern skank out

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Agree ! this is why I dont have a season ticket! as much as I love leeds i refuse to pay over the odds for championship football! Before anyone has a go I watched Leeds in League one with a season ticket and had one for many years but University and then moving out to pay for my rented apartment means I can't fork out silly money
All that aside, I will be going to as many games as I can and continuing to support the Whites, just not our ridiculously blinkered board!!!

Leeds will sign three players only this season. they will be as follows. Alan Smith (Newcastle) Paul Smith ( Nottingham Forest) and Jonathan Woodgate ( Spurs )

--------------------------

I sincerely hope not. Don't fancy starting the season without a single keeper.

Anyways, judging by kasper's twitter statement it looks like he is being forced out. Says he was never offered an extention. I would guess that his agent priced Leeds out of it before they could properly negotiate.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 Jun 2011 20:05:11
It's so frustrating why can't we compete with leicester why can't we find the wages to pay these class players with bates its like an itch you can't scratch he is ruining our club the man is a control freak he likes to control everything and everyone around him but he will not control super leeds fans I feel sorry for you all yes he saved us but enough is enough if you don't feel like me you are not a true leeds fan let's get him out and Leeds utd where they belong so if there is anybody out there lucky enough to have the money to buy a great club with great history and great fans please save our club please get this club where they belong {Ed003's Note - Maybe patience is required,a lot of rebuilding has had to happen and slowly does it is probably the best way}

Looking a very depressing future just when we thought we was on the up. No new defensive TALENT coming in. No class keeper, no new attacking options coming in. And only gossip of passed it dads army ex players. Is there any hope? Leeds seems to be going backwards not forwards, really hope by time of the Southampton game I'm proved wrong. Wish money would stop getting spent on new boxes for ER and get spent on new talent.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sick of the management - its got the wrong idea - focus on pitch not off pitch - I don't want another Ridsdale, but i would like someone who'll put 5 million aside for transfers - you have to speculate to accumulate as Bates neva heard this

Paul Robinson (Blackburn)
Shay Given (Man City)
Thomas Sorensen (Stoke City)

Adam Federici or Alex McCarthy (Reading)

Further to my earlier post it looks like Leeds has become a money spinner for Bates ie a selling club. Stay in the Championship with decent crowds, bring on players and sell them on at a profit. Premiership is too rich for Bates. We have bigger crowds than Crewe but the principle is still the same. Hope I am wrong and we sign a class GK, CH, D Mid field and mid field general. NB They should also be strong, consistent and not injury prone. Woodgate and Smith a bit iffy in that respect but cheap(transfer wise and might come for pay as you play). That would suit Ken. Hope Jason Brown is not on the radar and Billy goes back to league 1 where he belongs. Some hope!!

I bet with Kasper departing we get Westwood as a No.1 and our previous loanee from this season Jason Brown as no.2 my money's on that both freebies both decent (ish for the later :L) whatcha think? MOT

Surely Graysons had this planned for a while we make a profit that will go towards the wages of Westwood and the ex Prem Trio, my opinion but you heard it here first ;)

so kasper off, thought we were going to keep our best plays or if sold at least for a good sum, what a joke SG and KB are, or is it us for believing them to begin with.we might bring in smith , bowyer or woody back but only so KB can cash in on the shirt sales, this guy takes us for fools, larry a joke too, what a puppet that guy is, be gone you pair of wasters and let our club rise again, come on leeds.

Kasper to Leicester. Right deal for the club or for Mr Bates? Which freebie GK will we now be bringing in to replace Kasper. Its about time SG stood up to KB, our transfers in recent years have in the main been nothing less than shocking, with the majority been freebies, no doubt at KB's request. Is KB willing to back SG if not I suggest SG resigns in protest.

Just thought i would give you a heads up regarding alan smith.

To celebrate me and my wifes wedding anniversary, my father in law gave us a holiday to barbados. We were staying in the north of barbados which is called Benthams.

Me and my wife were walking down the beach last week, to go to one of the beach bars, and i couldnt believe my eyes when i noticed a certain person at the bar. No other than Jonathan Woodgate. I got talking to him and mentioned i am a big leeds fan and passed on that when he played for us, he was like our brick wall in the defence and that to have him back again would certainly bring that back.

We had been talking for a good 20 minutes and he offered to buy me a drink, to which i accepted, my wife had got so bored of waiting for me she decided to go back to the hotel pool. I eventually decided to go back to the pool to see her, but just as i was leaving Woodgate said "our defence will be sorted next season, i will give you a hint im moving house up north" and winked at me. Make of this what you will but he seems to be on his way back home.

Going for a long sleep now only got back this morning but wanted to let you fellow Leeds fans aware.

Kasper Schmeichel leaving leeds for a some of around £1 million?? he is worth more than that on the strength of his performance against derby 1st game last season. i really hope we have a strong keeper lined up as i do not want to start next season with the likes of jason brown between the sticks. time for KB to pull out all the stops for kieran westwood or some1 with potential. kasper at £1 million is bargain of the century..... seems these rumours are real about Woodgate, Bowyer and Smith coming to Leeds, great news in my eyes. People go on about not bringing back old boys and concentrate on people for the future, but what we all have to realise, like it or not, these 3 can do a job for us.

if they came to us they would be regarded as 3 of the best players in the championship, and if any other club in the championship were offered these, they would bite their hands off. With these 3 we can get promoted.

keep seeing, IN GRAYSON WE TRUST, do me a favour, lol, grayson has no tacticle knowhow, he picks his favourites weather thats in their right postion or not, refuses to play better players ie somma, etc, loan players are either not played or are worst then we have aready, clearly cant sort out defence, we leaks goals like a rusty pipe, doesnt see or wanna do anything bout defensive midfielder, this has gone on 4 two seasons, and yes we got promoted but that was the least we could do with the squad we had in league 1, the guy goes on about competition for places but plays the same players, now saying payner staying good god this guy must be blind, time to move on and get someone else, thats if bates allows, bates must go too, i am leeds though and though but sick of all this, our club needs to be back in prem and affaid these two wont get us there,

Just read that SG has stated that Billy Paynter is a quality player and has no plans to get rid of him. I hope this is just a bargaining ploy to get a fee (anything would be good). If not my view of Grayson will seriously decline. Paynter has had one reasonable season at Swindon and he did let them down in the play off final. Gefore that he was rubbish at Hull and elsewhere and after that he has been rubbish at Leeds. Get Rid quick. Some of Graysons selections have been very poor and he has persisted with them. Livermore, Bannon, Bessone (although he was so bad even SG had to put his hands up and give him the elbow), Paynter, Collins, Bruce. Somma on the other hand has real potential. What does Grayson do then? Keeps him on the bench for the most part and when he does play him from the start it's out of position. At times it looks like SG doesn't like Somma that much and does like his judgement questioned when he scores - which is more than anyone else in relation to the minutes he has played. Answer:- play him out of position and when he doesn't do as well SG can turn round as say 'I told you so'. Is he stupid or what?

To be fair I think that was Johnson, who I agree is probably worth around £7K a week and is certainly not worth £11K a week. Gradel is worth that and much more though. Becchio is definately on £15K a week, Gradel is better than he is.

Livermore did nothing because he was brought in at the wrong time. Young loanees can't be expected to be brought in to get a struggling team promoted, they need time to settle in. As an extra midfielder he'd be quite handy I reckon. Osbourne and Taylor we'd be lucky to get I admit.

Leeds winger Max Gradel is on Swansea's radar. The Ivorian would cost around £1.5m. (Daily Mirror)
---------------------------------------------
I don't think this would happen as bates would not sell him for such a low price. As in January Newcastle offerd £4-5 million.
--------------------------------------------------------
£1.5m for mad Max this is just laughable and an insult to the players real value. Leeds are not looking to sell key players like Max or Snodgrass. Apparently Leeds are in talks about extending there contracts with the club.

--

Yes he may be worth a lot more than that if he had a more than a year on his contract. However, a championship player, with only 1 year left on his contract isnt that valuable. If, and thats a big if, he decided he wanted to leave and that he would not be signing a new contract with Leeds i dont think you would be able to get any more than 2 mil maximum. Contract length is a major factor in a players value and cannot be ignored.

Alan Smith, I am so torn on this one. I have always loved Smithys tenacity, and even saw sparks of this when he played for the mancs. He has always given 110% wherever he has been. Now to the negatives he never wanted to join Man U, maybe not but he still kissed their scummy badge. Injuries, we all know Smudge aint the player he was when he left us, but in the championship I still think he could be worth a punt. Combative midfielders are very hard to find, and it certainly would be hard to find anyone as commited as Smith. To all those people who slag him off, if Smith pulls on the white shirt and plays with as much determination as he did when he left or makes a great full bloodied challenge you'll be singing his name along with everybody else
