We are linked with one player after another but never get anyone. If wood is injured for Saturday we won't score again. Why not give one of the young guns a go.

It would be too easy to do that I don't understand why antenucci is not starting if woods is injured.

Why won't we try Erwin up front with the Duke or Auntie Lucy behind as neither are direct replacements for Wood at holding the ball up top for the others to work off. We have struggled without Wood, but Erwin does not get any opportunity to shine?

Do we have any promising CB's in our youth teams? Seeing as though that one of our many weaknesses then it may be worth giving them a run in the team.

Plea to me Cellino, if you want the fans to restore there faith you can I suggest we bid for Zachary Clough at Bolton and we also try to sign Tony Watt, we definately don't need any more Italians playing for the club, the ones we have are complete garbage. Any comments on other players we should sign?

20 Jan 2016 20:52:19
Shaggy is Watt any good? Heard of the kid but never seem him play. I agree though about signing young hungry players but along with an experienced CB and CM. Only problem is we need 4 or 5 players but be lucky to get two.
In that case we need experience.

6,800 tickets for Bolton away. They couldn't have wished for a better draw, the mess they're in. Maybe they'll be able to afford the lecky bill after we've played them.

Well we were going to sign at least 3 or 4 after Carayol arrived, now Byram as gone, who and when are we going to sign? At least 2 forwards req, Doukara never a number 9 maybe in the hole yes, improving every game IMO, he doesn't think antinucci can do it so get rid and buy 2 CF, desperate for a proper CB and another wide player because he doesn't rate Boukata, get shut of Biannchi and Sloth because he is never going to play them, Only 11 days to go and not a lot going on? Worrying times tbh. MOT.

It is about time for some positive news. I'm sick of the news about Byram leaving. I'm glad we didn't get Graham however Washington, Bradley Dack, Kemar Roofe would have been good options. Personally I don't think we need a new right back. I think Coyle could step up and we have Berardi coming back. Goalkeeper, Centre back, goalscorer and number10 link up man are essential.

Didn't I reAd somewhere a few weeks ago that Cellino had said we have lost money again this reason and last in region of twenty mill? This might be why we nt buying players till we sell? Nt great situation if that's the case?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

20 Jan 2016 17:34:46
The problem is we can't believe half of what Cellino says due to his all too frequent ill thought out emotional outbursts, I saw this from one source but it wasn't picked up on like most stories about us are so not sure how true it is. Regardless though SE continually says we have money to spend in Jan so who knows.

Really good article by Phil Hay on selling Byram.

Cellino has like 10 days to put money where mouth is otherwise it's clear he isn't our saviour.

Agree George, this is a really good article. But I think we need PH, to have an interview with Cellino. We need to know answers to a few questions. 1) Are there regular board meetings and do GFH attend 2) If not do GFH have any imputation into the running of the club. If not can they be bought out. 3) If Cellino is the only one putting money into the club, can he finance the club longterm. 4) Does he know Jeff 5) Will he buy the ground, TA anytime soon. 6) What are his plans if he is banned. Sure there are over things but there always seems to be negativity when we sell players for money. No-one seems to think the money will be re - invested

Trying not to be too pessimistic but. How many transfer windows have we heard Managers/ Head coaches claim that three, four or even more are 'definitely coming in only to find there are none or players nobody else wants? I hope this window is different although I do think its best to bring in players after the end of the season rather than in January. However, the club needs a lift and a quality player or two would do wonders and shape things up for the Summer and next season. I hope the management have got a plan and have players in mind that are not being bandied about at the moment. Lafferty is a poor man's Robbie Keane - doesn't do that well for the club but manages to raise his game for his country. Then there is Tom Watt - still a 'nearly' man. Lee Tomlin potentially very good but has a temperament problem and could quite easily lose if things don't go his way. We have brought in Bridcutt but only on loan, Carylon (too inconsistent as Huddersfield discovered) and finally our best recruit Paul Bell - Wednesday bringing in a crop of decent players and moving forward wonder why would he want to jump ship? Was it the plank already being pushed out ready for him.

Well I'll have my final thoughts on the long drawn out Sam saga.
Despite MC's blundering dealings with his contract situation and regrettable mouthing off in public - I don't actually believe Sam would have stayed whatever he had been offered, although of course we will never know. I think he's gone only for the opportunity to play premiership football. Who can blame him? I also think that for the same reason, others will follow sooner rather than later unless we buck our ideas up and start to show we have genuine ambitions, and a possibility to get promoted. All the talk of tying Lewis and the other young 'uns to longer contracts is irrelevant. The contracts won't keep them here if and when they want to leave - all it may do is give us a bit more of a transfer fee for them. So MC, I've supported you as much as anyone - but by the summer at the latest (this window might not be ideal) , we are going to have to see a few real quality players joining, or we might be facing another decade in this god awful league.

Lets take a look at the Sam Bryam transfer from a WH fans point of view! Your team is sitting 6th in the league you are hoping that signings are made to qualify for europe, who knows if the pedigree of players you sign are top international players, you could make the champions league with a bit of luck of? With 11 days of the window left open, the only player you have signed is for 3.7 million, for a young player, from a side sitting 17th in the championship! He's never played in the prem league! Never represented his country at any level! Also his position is right back, but he couldn't command a regular first team place in the championship! Just a thought fellow LUFC fans! MOT

I agree with you Speedy. The lad has given us a good stint and now wants to play in the Premier league in a brand spanking new stadium for a club showing real ambition. Who can blame him? If Cellino wasn't full of sound bites and actually followed through on some of his promises, maybe he could have convinced Sam to stay instead of offering him a ridiculous contract and publicly slagging him off. There's a good post written by Phil Hay on YEP saying about the lack of ambition shown by the last two chairmen which has resulted in us losing many a promising player, which will only continue unless Cellino shows some real ambition and digs deep to re-invest in the squad.

Well sad Speedy I totally agree. Unless the club shows some ambition and buys quality players, we will lose our youngsters regardless of contracts. Please Cellino sort this out or sell to somebody else who will.
We have spent far too long away from the Premier League. MOT

Can we all just move on from talking about Sam B for GODs SAKE I AM LOSING the WILL TO LIVE ha ha

I'm sorry guys but it is just a case of a championship player on 12k a week playing for an average team who gets a chance to play in the prem, for 20k week and to a team he supports, in London and moving to a big brand new stadium.

He gave us 3 years or so, at any club in championship this would happen don't make out that it only happens to us, until we are prem team it will always happen, end of really and i'm Sooooo bored of talking about Sam, where are those pills.

20 Jan 2016 16:38:30
I agree with you speedy, the concern for me is why are so many players leaving and going to smaller clubs in the premiership. The question has to be asked if Byram really thought we could get promoted next season as Cellino has said that is the goal ( this has already been moved back a year from what Cellino said when he bought the club) would he leave for WHU. I don't think so.

For me Cellino is every bit as bad as mastebates, at least we knew what Bates would do, with this lunatic in charge he makes lots of promises and never delivers on any of them.

20 Jan 2016 17:44:32
DG you said stop talking about Sam Byram and then proceeded to give us another two paragraphs on the one subject that made you hit caps lock and hit the happy pills!

I think the talking point here isn't really Sam leaving but the fact it's unearthed more broken promises and a severe lack of ambition by El Presidente. That's what this thread is really about.

I think the saying is 'read it and weep' which is what I generally do when I see one of your tired posts.

Sam Byram's situation doesn't mean we have no money. It means Sam Byram doesn't want to sign a new contract and would walk away for £2m comp in the closed season. Better to get £3.7m or whatever the final figure is now as he's off anyway. Not a fire sale, just moving a player on who clearly doesn't want to play for us any more.

You know nothing Jeff so jog on old boy.

20 Jan 2016 10:59:35
MM you are right of course but why bother to reply to "Know nothing Survivor" who is prob a fan of Man U or someone as he is sooooooo negative it is untrue and as you say he should jog on (perhaps he could borrow one of your many shell suits? )

Talking of which I had to explain to my good lady what a shell suit was when she accused me of wearing one when I just had a black cotton adidas trackie bottoms on with a T-shirt so I googled it for her.

Still no much happening yet in the old who may be coming in, in the window ( I don't mind people going out if they are fringe players) but for me with SB gone then at the moment we are only + 1 to what we had in December (counting Bridcut as he did go back) which we need to add ideally at 3 more in my opinion (Fwd, CH and a quality midfielder) .

If MC does nothing from here then that will be a bad sign for me but I would not expect him to go mad in the window either so I guess we have 10 days or so to await the verdict!

I guess all sensible owners are restricted by ffp. There seems little point in Leeds over spending on players and incurring transfer bans next season, when we're miles away from promotion.
On another level I run a successful business and financial prudence is part and parcel of that, there is no shame in selling assets to re-invest especially when those assets are not sustainable ( Sams wage expectations are currently beyond Leeds budget ) .
Mr Survivor you could be right, Leeds United may have run out of money, but I would sooner Cellino works within a budget and keeps Leeds viable and attractive to future owners/ investors than we go back into administration and Division 1 again. Also Mowatt still has not gone to Newcastle!

Agree2 Disagree2

20 Jan 2016 16:54:07
Sticky how does it make good financial sense to get rid of Byram's wage only to get Lafferty in on loan and pay him 20k a week. Cellino is mugging all of us off (just like previous owner's) they say we they will get players in only not to deliver and continue to sell the best players we have. Do we really believe Bridcutt will stay with us after this season. I think not, all we have provided him and Sunderland with is to put him in the shop window so he can catch the eye of other premier/ championship clubs. Fact a team of loaners wins nothing @ that has been the problem in the past to many loaners have been signed and they have no desire to play for our great club, they are only playing for themselves.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 17:49:34
Shagtastic - I said Sams wage expectations, I would think he wanted and is probably worth premiership wages, were a mid table Championship club with ridiculous overheads ( Rent on E Road, Thorp Park, and interest on loans from GFH ) . leeds United is been run as a business and has to stand on its own two feet and try to compete with other clubs who's owners are bank rolling there teams.
Sadly I believe we're ducked and I can't ever see us getting into the premier as I think we're miles away on all sorts of levels.

Point taken sticker, we can only summies what Byram wage expectation are/ were, it doesn't help when a promising youngster like Byram is asked to take a wage cut when he was initially offered a new contract, I have never heard of this in football. If we are going to get promoted we have to do as others do, we have one of the biggest average home game attendance and yet teams like Bristol City are prepared to pay big money for players, like you I cannot see us returning to the premiership while Cellion is in charge.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 00:39:45
It's time to get rid of the dead wood. We've got a few players ( bianchi, sloth, doukara, antennuci ) who are never going to take us forward. And I know it's great having home grown talent, but they're not going to hang around whilst we're a million miles from the premiership. There is no chance of us signing bridcutt permanently, so come July, we will be a much worse team than we are now!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

20 Jan 2016 07:38:11
Because they have an owner with ambition who is willing to spend hard cash so I'm waiting for him (Cellino) to sell the club because he is wasting our time now. I don't expect anything from him as few deluded people who still support him: "FFP rules" "GFH on his back" "acquiring cash for buying of ER and TA". Silly excuses, who cares for transfer embargo? Sign good team for 30 million in two transfer window and you don't need another and Football League can go make love with themselves and their transfer embargo.

Sad state of affairs when the likes of Sheff Wednesday are looking at Rhodes and Hooper and we are looking at a carthorse like Lafferty. I'm from Northern Ireland and I still don't rate him. I'm normally optimistic but we just aren't looking forward. We won't be anywhere near the relegation fight (well I would hope not) , but we had better improve to have any chance at a top 6 place which is almost un-reachable for us Come on MC buy someone decent. Give us some hope.
