I really think we have to be realistic this season, yes we now have a manager that the vast majority of fans want at the moment to manage the side but I would ask how many would have wanted NR at the start of the season before DH got the job, not that many I think in my opinion. But we are where we are and we have to spend the next six to twelve months firstly staying in this league, secondly supporting the new manager, there is no way on earth that we can reach the play offs this season regardless of who is in charge with the current squad, and then thirdly and the main thing we have to sort the squad out once for all. Due to the amount of deadwood we have that we could not get rid because of their current contracts, we could only bring in a small number of good quality players, because there was not the overall money in the budget to get more.

In my opinion we need to get rid of Morrison, Norris, Pearce, Ajose, Hunt, Wootton, Tonge, White and Murphy, that I believe leaves 18 players in the squad from a current number of 30. That means we have 12 squad places up for grabs next season. A couple of young players will take two or three spots leaving maybe around 9-10 places, they have to be filled with real quality and have to include in my opinion a top left back, a commanding centre half with pace, two wingers with genuine pace who have to be able to get at and past players, a top centre forward to play with Antenucci, as I do not believe Doukara deserves a starting place, and not somebody we can rely on to get us the 20 goals we need from our strikers if we are to really challenge, and then finally a creative midfield player to supplement the hard graft of Cook and to complement Mowatts obvious talent.

I hope the Red Bull rumour about investment is true, I do not necessarily want MC to go I would rather he worked if he can with them, and get the money to make the investment in the squad as outlined, and to secure the ownership of the ground back. If we don't get the quality in then we are not going to be a side challenging but if we do invest we have the nucleus of the squad plus the new arrivals to seriously challenge thos play off places and then stay in the Premier League.

If we don't then we can only really stay a ordinary championship team, just hovering over the relegation places with crowds dropping.

Very very well thought out and sensible post. Can't really find fault with much of what you have written, and certainly agree with the list of players we ideally need to lose

Totally agree with your list of players to go, but think Doukara is worth his place if the midfield can get sorted. Need wide players and have said for months Cooper should be playing Pearce is caught out tooo many times. Every time Bellusci pushes up he is out of position but agree they do not get much help from midfield dropping back. Def need another left back and someone with pace up front.

Central defence is looking a problem and needs sorting asap! Central defenders should be able to challenge in the air! in other words head the ball from the they own penalty box! look at the 1st goal conceded today, two unchallenged balls in the air! They both back off and allow unchallenged shots from anywhere from 25 metres to edge of the box! Pearce took backing off to a new level for the 2nd goal, running towards his own goal, his back to play, he didn't see the shot that deflected off him!! The 3rd goal! You can't defend that, pardon the pun!! With Pearce out next game! Then Redders has the chance to give Cooper a chance! hopefully he can head the ball and not back off!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Must admit kjc, my first thought when Pearce got booked was - here comes Coopers chance. Definitely happy to see what he can do on Tuesday

Shows how ridiculously difficult this league is. Look at the teams around/below us all very good teams, and as I believe so are we, takes a massive stroke of luck/genius to get promoted from this league and I feel next season his dog will have its day :) just As long as we stay up mind! (Got to add a bit of negativity to a positive post being leeds an all)

2-0 down and we bring Dawson on, sums up Redfearn today really. Tuesday is a six pointer now

You are a negative one smitch. We lost because Cardiff are good and they are a bogey team for us. Check the stats. Even game more or less. Once montenegro is introduced into the team we will be better and we missed Adryan. Patience. I am confident with Redders and still expect to finish in top ten.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dawson can be creative and does score goals so what is the issue with that my friend?

6 pointer, not yet, we are not playing well but a long way to go, if we beat Charlton and then Blackpool (as they bottom that is closer to a 6 pointer but for me no 6 pointers not in November, not in this league).

will be at game Tuesday and I predict a 2-1 to us, heard it hear first ha ha, right off out now

Agree0 Disagree0

Dawson got shrugged to the ground more times than we had shots on target yesterday. We had Sloth on the bench who clearly more established than the 5 foot Dawson. You want some stats?

9th in the league and no wins in 7 games

Only 4 sides scored fewer goals

Average of 3.86 corners per game - 22nd in league

Average of 9.79 shots per game - 23rd in league

Average shots on target 2.79 per game - 24th in league

Average of 16.64 shots per game against us - 23rd in league

Average of 5.50 shots on target against us - 22nd in league

Tom Lees plays for the leanest defence in the league

28% of our shots are on target - 19th in league

I'm realistic mate, not negative.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smitch
You want to go and WATCH Leeds mate instead of reading stats off the net.
Support makes a big difference to the players and manager, it also gives you a broadside into how the team are playing than just reading stats off the net. Mcbadgekissers stats last year we brilliant!!!!!!!
Yes the results are not going our way at the moment and deservedly so but WE ARE LEEDS, we don't moan (well some dont)

Its work in progress which don't come over night, YES Dawson isn't a heavy weigtht, he's young and eager and hopefully one for the future, keep knocking the youth and they will lose confidence or worse still go to another club.

Im VERY shocked you are quoting stats when your post on friday was shouting for GARY MAC as our NEW experienced manager (love to see his management stats)
Smitch??

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2014 11:13:50
Smitch think you are right about Dawson, talented kid but going to find it hard in this league and we can't afford to be blooding him yet. More concerned with defence and why we still persevere with Morrison and Tonge, unless all the others are injured. Good thing is Cooper will get a game so we can see what he can do. How long have the deadwood got lefft on their contracts because it seems its the only way we can get rid

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Cook is excellent, I can't see how I'm being slated because I and other non local Leeds fans don't rate Dawson. The stats don't lie, were 19th, if you don't like it, don't read them.

I had a tenner on us to get promoted and a tenner to get top 10, so do me a favour, I'm not negative, just switched on.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you was SWITCHED ON you would have listened to Massimo its a 2-3yr plan and saved yourself £20 ;)

The poll said do not expect to win 65% to 35% so nothing shocking however what was dissapointing today was the lack of tempo in the side.
Whilst retaining the fluency there needs to be a greater speed getting from the back to the front. We now have a passing mentality so attacks on the break should form part of our armoury, utilising crisp passing or accurate lobs behind their defence, get them turning (and no I do not mean hoofball) and panicking with Antenucci bearing down on goal.
Cardiff have a good squad and I believe, are in a false position, we are (again) a work in progress so let's not hear from any doom merchants we should all remain strong.

it may not be palatable to some on here but to stay in this league will now count as a success for me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This is only the first game so let's give the boss a chance before we start worrying unduly. Its not even Christmas yet so still a long way to go. there is talent in the squad so it only needs to find the right blend and style and away we go. let's all hope Redfearn is the man to do it and until he proves otherwise give him our support.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Gelderd, I said happy with top 12. The fans who are suicidal are the ones who had a false hope that promotion was on the cards this season. That was never a realistic possibility

As Alan Pardew has shown, a couple (well four I know) of wins and you are right back in it. A precious away goal. Tuesday should be good.

Same old Leeds. We keep them out in a bore draw 1st half. Their manager gives them a rocket. They score a good goal after concerted pressure. We give away our usual bizarre 2nd. Decide to start playing at 2-0 down and score an excellent goal and press them back Looks like we might get something out of it. That's no good for Leeds as usual. Let our two best defenders conspire to gift cardiff a goal from an aimless punt up the middle. 3-1 game over. If Darko hadn't been sacked last week he would have certainly gone after this. Who do you think our next coach should be?
Just a thought - we panic buy Sharpe(Who hasn't done anything in years) and play Morrison. Huddersfield get the more than decent Holt to play alongside Wells. They have pace on the wings we don't. It's not rocket science to see why they are going forward and we are still in the starting blocks. You have to have the players for the coach to work with. We are still deficit in key positions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need to stop playing kids In midfield as they are not strong enough, gigged yes but not for 90 mins, we need to be stronger all round!!

Ginger, they will improve with game time! We must play them therefore!

Relegation form, no wins in seven, and our league position is a true reflection of how poor we have been this season.

Did I here Redfern had signed a 12 month rolling contract, or is it a 12 day one!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know which one I hope it is .

Is it the 12 month one Smitch? If not, can I have a second guess please?

Haven't won there in like 30 years so if anyone starts crying because we lost get over it. No one likes to see leeds lose but ffs what do you expect? If we lose against Blackpool at home then you can start crying

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No wins in seven, 6th from bottom, I honestly feel like crying.
Going on Tues and hoping we can turn things around quickly.

It can only get better Andy. Chin up lad

Mornin all, got to say the furore from press and pundits is just getting bizarre and more ridiculous by the day. Redders being warned off the job, they "fear" for him? Do they have no respect for him at all. He knows what he is doing, he ain't naieve or wet behind the ears, he believes in himself the club and players. As for Cellino, well he is the devil incarnate and kick him out FL. Jeeez, they need to look deeper. He is driven, in 7 months he has transformed Leeds, but his style is take a sledgehammer to it, gradual does not exist in his vocabulary. He is only guilty, as we all are, of making mistakes, but he does not hesitate to try to rectify them. BMD, The Hock and Redders all preach that he has the club at heart and is trying to do what's best, indeed BMD still insists they speak regularly. So much done in so little time there was always going to be a bit of carnage and who of us gets everything right at the first attempt? I am thankful we are where we are now than at this time last year

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Nov 2014 08:47:55
Well said - the gutter press need to get back in their box and let the club get on with it! Let's hope we get a result today now that would make me really happy. come on leeds.

They will soon get bored if our results improve
But the fact that we get more attention than the vast majority of Premiership clubs speaks volumes

Just had a thought, if Redders hadn't had guided us to 10 points out of 12, we would almost definitely have been in the relegation zone. Stating the obvious probably, but still.

Heres hoping for some points on the board tomorrow.
