Pugh is a definite there was a clause in the loan that we could buy him for X amount in jan which is what we have done.
As to keogh there have been some saying that leeds have a similar clause in place, but i dnt believe this to be true, but i could be wrong. However i think leeds will buy keogh in jan and i dont see a swap + cash deal involving snodders i just dont see it wolves are skint! End of story

Bates is adding unnecessary pressure on SG. Quotes like this aren't conducive to playing with confidence and helping the players play freely at home.
He told the Daily Express:
"We need to get promoted this year. Not financially but for the fans' sake.
"I actually spoke to Simon Grayson about it after the Barnsley game.
"He reassured me that we were going to get promoted so I said to him, 'How come we're fifth then?' We'll see."
Whilst all Leeds fans would like Leeds to get promoted a) this kind of added pressure does not help b) He has hardly given him a budget to help get promotion c) the tone sounds critical of SG. These and previous recent comments do not sound supportive and undermine the manager.
Cheers Ken.

He said there was funds available in august but didn spend but now he knows where the weaknesses are he can hopefully improve in january. Also when a team in inconsistant they need a good telling to shale em up a bit.

Don't like Bates one bit but this is big business not a game and management in any firm needs a kick up the arse ,if there not producing the goods ,sorry but thats life,if I don't move my business I work for forward I get the sack end of !

I have a review every year at work too and my boss sets targets for me. Why should football be any different?

I can't believe any manager would refuse to spend available funds on good, available players. In any case, even if transfer funds are there, our publicly acknowledged very low wage structure means that the players Grayson really wants will never come. We lost Billy Sharp to Donny FFS - that was down to Bates offering insulting wages when Grayson really wanted him. We lost Kilkenny & Johnson on a free for exactly the same reason and there's a good chance we'll lose Howson & Clayton the same way.
Grayson has to spout the company line regardless of his real opinion. Bates is his boss.
Bates can whine all he likes but if he won't invest in transfer fees and wages and if he continues to price fans out of the ground, then it isn't going to get better. Frankly I think it's a bit of macho posturing to appease the brain-cell deficient fans, so many of whom are on here calling for Grayson to be replace with O'Neill (the ones who can barely string a sentence together), mainly in order to cover up his fear of seeing his master plan go tits up due to falling attendances.
Bates wants premiership football to make a killing, that's the only reason. He doesn't really give a h*ck about Leeds United. Grayson's Leeds through and through.
Bates won't get us in to the Premiership by **ssing off players, fans and now the manager.

That entire rant is based on one assumption - you somehow know what goes on behind the scenes at Boardroom level. Just a thought but maybe you don't?

The Sharp/Johnso/Kilkenny salary issues are actually well documented by the players themselves. Johnson also stated that KB used very underhand tactics by trying to get him to sign a contract when his agent was abroad.
The other bit says 'I don't believe any manager...' - pure conjecture, and the clue is in the 'I don't believe' part! Have met a senior LU employee at a few business breakfasts at a sporting venue (not ER) though so maybe I know a little more than you think about Bates...

And I should qualify that last remark by saying that I've never been told anything about playing staff matters and the said staff member has nothing but good to say about him.

And as for our low salary structure - that is also, in effect, documented in the public domain. Take a look at the company accounts. They are available from the Companies House web site, just like those of all other limited liability entities.
