Just wandering if anyone else is still waiting on their membership card? Paid for 6th June and still waiting, bit like Vivani waiting for his loan paperwork.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi AGM yes I'm waiting for my membership, I called the Leeds office and they told me there's a backlog but are working through it to get the memberships out before week but you can still but tickets online and don't need your membership card Mate regards DJ

Hi agm I applied beginning of June and told they'd be out first 2 week in July, just got back from holiday a
nd still not arrived!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers DJ, I have already bought tickets. Can't remember card being this late before, main concern is if asked for at away game even though I haven't before. Anyway looking forward to an exciting season, I hope!

McDaid not given a squad number - What was the point of signing him or him joining?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2014 06:31:56
Its called one for the future. I believe he will break into the first team sometime during this season. That's when he will get a squad number. Boy needs to beef up a bit otherwise championship central defenders will injure him too easily.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are probably right! Just thought
" he will never play for Yorkshire - No offence "

Agree0 Disagree0

Still makes no sense to me. I'd give him number just as a show of faith in the lad.

What is going on at the moment with transfers, we seem to be blundering our way through the window, all the pre season positivity is slowing being eroded away, my reasons for me saying this are as follows

1. We have only signed on contract or loan 5 players 4 of which are unproven.

2.We have not replaced RM with an experienced quality striker, capable of scoring 20 odd goals

3. We have no new centre halves signed, and in fact have given one away.

4. We have signed no wingers this window

5. We have not signed any holding midfielder, we have signed Bianchi who appears to be a decent playmaker but we are lacking in this area.

6.The player who most fans have got excited about us signing who has pedigree and would make us better looks like he has decided to join somebody else as we cannot get a loan deal sorted out in 3 weeks

7.Missed out on good players who I feel would have greatly improved us Chris Burke being one definite and the other Agard does not appear to be coming.

8. We are paying Salerno to be our transfer guru on a 2 year contract yet so signings have been made since he signed.

9. We have 15 million pounds plus a 1.2 million bonus from the Police to spend but only have one pre season game left and then Millwall so no chance of getting players in and
bedding them into a system of playing.

We need to get better at buying players, so much seems to revolve around MC and if he is not around then everything stalls, and I would question why at one of the most critical times in the season for getting your squad together the owner is in Miami, no doubt dealing with other business issues that he has.

I hope I am wrong and that we sign all the players we need next week before Millwall, I just cannot see us doing it in time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with pretty much all of that. I think Agard might join next week. Cannot see him going back down to League One.

Pretty much sums it up, but you forgot the chief coaches scintillating previous record.

On a positive note a lot of the deadwood has been cleared out, few more to go yet & Fingers crossed that next week brings a clutch of good signings Benedicic, Agard, + 2 others (maybe Viviani) would certainly change the picture

Agree0 Disagree0

Mark
Although I agree with most of your points, who says MC wanted Viviani?
We know we met his representatives but didn't flow that up!
Maybe he wanted too much money, maybe his attitude put massimo off?
Who knows but I'm sure if MC wanted him 100% he would be at Leeds now.

2-3yr plan Patience lads

Agree0 Disagree0

2 - 3 plan aaaargh! that drives me crazy. We've had a 2 - 3 year plan for 10 years!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet again Andy, you are the voice of reason.
Whilst impatient I`m pretty happy with what`s happened so far.
The window doesn't shut next Saturday. And come January we`ll have a better idea of what we need.
Would like us to splash out a bit for Liam Cooper though.

BIC
Your talking Bates era, GFH era or any of the other ROBBERS we had sucking money out of our club!

MC seems to have the clubs best interests at heart, I guess ONLY time will tell onwards and upwards MOT ;)

Squad numbers released and no number 6 which suggests this is reserved for a central defender. Also no number 8 which may be reserved for Benedicic. No place in the squad for George Swan and no number 17?! strange!

Swann hasn't signed for us so he won't have a squad number. He is only on trial and mainly been playing development squad games.

Come on now, our wage bill has been significantly reduced, we have money at our disposal let's spend it! We need 2 experienced CBs, a talented LB, an exciting winger and a experienced one, a talented striker and I'd say a playmaker. I suggest Hudson and Zat Knight(an experienced squad player). LB=either Joey o'brian(surplus to requirements at WH) or Luke Garbutt on loan. Agard and etherington as the wingers. Let's at least make a bid for wickham even if it's rejected it's worth a try or a loan bid for bamford. Finally Chris Eagles who is now available on a free, none of these players should cause financial strain given our situation and are all experienced.

leeds how come were are soo slow at getting deals over the line.now vivani is off to Latina instead of us because we nerver submitted the final paperwork it happens every year where we end up been to lackadazy and miss out on a player and now we will probally loose out on agard because he'll go to Bristol city instead because we don't seem to be making a move.come on leeds show some intusiasm.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's all very strange

I appreciate we're all having a bromance with our Massimo but I can't help but feel somewhat let down over the Viviano situation. He looks some prospect and could have been a big player for us in the Championship. I hope I am wrong and Benedicic is a similar player but better and Salerno has had some input in this one. We'll wait and see and before anyone slags me off for being negative, I'm not. just a little frustrated that's all. I also question the logic behind selling a central defender with no replacement a week before the season starts and again, I hope I am wrong.

MM

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I Agree with the central defender issue seems a bit odd too get rid b4 you had a dead cert signing lined up! As 4 the young italian lad, so be it we have some very talented young midfield players already here and not just Mowatt and Cook there are others.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah true and if the young bucks are played then I agree but why even go in for him if we don't need him. I've had shorter engagements than the time we've been courting this guy!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol mm!i know that scenario!but this other lad from ac. do we actually need any more mids. (18 yr old ones)unless he's winger, we need a solid cb, and poss.a striker!

Been away for a while but wanted to get something off my chest.

In general we still have so much negativity around what's going on at Leeds, but I think now is the time to try and think a bit about what's going on.

The reason the deals for Viviani and Benedicic are taking so long is that they are clearly loans with the option to buy. This is great business from Leeds, let's get 2 young players in, if they don't cut it we can send them back with no financial loss, if they do we potentially have 2 young premier class midfielders who we can buy.

Tom Lees. A good lad, but made too many mistakes, we shouldn't let his history with the club cloud that judgment. Also if you look at what TL actually said was that he wanted a fresh start, at worst that's a mutual 50 / 50, if not more leaning towards TL actually asking to leave.

Hockaday. In my opinion he's in for one thing only, to get the team fit and working hard. MC doesn't see him as a person who is capable of getting us promoted, the head coach will change. Hockaday is a short term solution.

All the above points back to one of the first things that MC said when he took over. We won't get promoted this year, this is a building year for us to be challenging next year.

I know we still need players in (Defenders / Striker), but we're getting there, the situation at Leeds was never in a million years going to be resolved in one pre season, if you think that you're dreaming. I have some optimism that those areas are being worked on by Salerno & MC, and that we will see the right type of player with (most importantly) the right attitude coming in over the coming months.

I know this post will attract some criticism for being overly optimistic, but our club has been in decline for a decade now, and drastic measures were needed.

This is the start of rebuilding, I would encourage everyone to remember that when (not if) we go through some difficult patches next season. We want to be in a position to attract promising, quality footballers to Leeds (Viviani, Benedicic, Silvestri) and not scare them away by being a divided supporter base.

Patience.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That makes interesting reading, but you are right - it is overly optimistic.
First, the Championship is an extremely competitive and cut-throat league, so if you don't perform, you are in the bottom 3 before you know it. Secondly, patience is all very well …but we are Leeds and not the most patient fans around. Thirdly, there could not have been a worse time for Cellino to go off on his jollies, with so much at stake at this important time. Fourthly, every day seems to bring fresh disappointments - today's being that Viviani seems to have signed for Latina and not us.
Finally, there is still too much underachieving dead wood for us to perform effectively - Hunt, Morrison, Wootton and especially Warnock, who made more mistakes last season than Lees did. So unless there is some explosive action in the next week, I can see us lurching into another crisis-ridden season with the prospect of heading downwards not upwards. Getting loan deals sorted is not rocket science - Salerno should have done better in this last couple of weeks. Having said that, I have supported LUFC for 53 years, and will continue to do so with all you other good guys…. MOT!

Hockaday saying he wants defensive signing, yet we haven't even replaced ross. Could see this been a hard season for us what does everyone think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2014 13:15:19
I don't think it's going to be a hard season, but I don't think we should be expecting the play offs. Hopefully some of the new players and the youngsters we're bringing through will get good experience and with a few additions whether that be in January or next season we will be in a position to challenge.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2014 13:21:06
I think they are all hard! It's Leeds we are talking about!

Agree0 Disagree0

Id say the defence is now is priority, seeing as he or MC have created a massive hole in it. Hopefully the "first choice" chaps can stay fit. for the first few games

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, we do need a quality forward, 2 more midfielders (defensive or attacking is fine, this may be sorted soon) and clearly we can't just have 2 centre backs esp if one is wootton!

To me if the 2 guys come in whose deals are almost done then agar and an English centre back would just about be right for the start of the season if we include 1-2 of our youth team. If that happens we will be so much stronger than last year if Hock can get them fit/playing football and working as a team.

I for one believe we will do better, play-offs maybe but top 10 for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Ds
A massive hole its Tom Lees that was sold, Tom tried his best but was lacking in confidence and made too many mistakes i'm afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

He can make all the mistakes he wants, we now have 2 recognised centre backs (1 first team standard, the other questionable) and no squad depth in this area of the pitch.

Whether he was any good or not, at this point doesn't matter, he isn't here anymore and now we have a massive hole in the squad.

Oh well, I guess these guys know what they are doing. Warnock or Austin could always fill in.

Agree0 Disagree0

DS
I understand what your saying and I thought wed have a replacement before we let him go but I didn't read anywhere where Lees was against the move.
So did he want to go, was he shoved out?
ANY IDEAS ANYONE

Connor Wickham has been told sign a new contract or get sold by Sunderland, think we should quickly make a £4mil offer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Depending on the fee would be a good signing and unlike mcd, hockaday may play him as a striker where he does the most damage to defences

Agree0 Disagree0

Leedssurrey
Where did you here that?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2014 11:47:20
Think we could do a lot worse than having a look at Matthew Ethrington. On a free from Stoke and would give us atleast one winger to work with! Getting on a bit at 32 but surely has enough quality to play championship level.
Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2014 13:31:09
I concur

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, still think he will be able to put a decent shift in at Championship level, can't really see a downside to having an experienced head in the midfield

Anyone know what's happening with viviani has he signed or not

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This is becoming a mystery rivalling the whereabouts of Shergar!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumours are Cellino is away at the moment, not sure how true that is, but bearing in mind he likes to be at the centre of any transfer deal I'd imagine all will be completed upon his return.

The same applies to any deal, providing Cellino is in fact away of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's supposed to be signing on Monday along with Benadicic.

Agree0 Disagree0

MC came back from Miami this week to see ALL the players. Not sure how long he stayed for but he was back at some stage and could be still in town.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been away for 2 weeks and is due back today so we mite get some deals pushed through now

Agree0 Disagree0

Reported Agent saying the club he was on loan last season are back in for him and he's seriously thinking about it.Paperwork this end holding things up. Yet reported elsewhere that he's already gone out on loan to them.
