I know it's not reliable or anything but a friend of my dad said when they were talking about Leeds that nicky Maynard was going to sign for Leeds. There was no news of this on any sites but he has a friend,( I know I know a friend of a friend as usual, but this is a rumour site) that followed them down Cornwall and has gone to Norway. I know this doesn't make things more reliable but. Plus I believe this could be true if the speculation, I don't know if it's true!, of Carroll going to west ham on a season long loan which would leave maynard with no chance of first team starts. Don't shoot the messenger a rumour for a rumour site.

I don't think Maynard is the sort of player Warnock is looking for, he did nothing last season?

I think Ross accepting the armband tonight sends a clear message he's ready to commit - Ross knows the passion of the Leeds fans and wouldn't have taken it knowing he was itching for a move..!
Tactical by NW clever move

Well done Ross, look forward to you banging em in again this season

Woody LUFC

Believable4 Unbelievable4

I think people are analyzing this situation too much it was only for a friendly no big deal.

Agree4 Disagree1

Doesn't matter if it was a friendly or a world cup final, fact his he wore the armband and may continue into the season... you don't know..!

Agree1 Disagree4

Snoddy and Howson had the armband too but they dont seem to be picked in the starting 11 oh thats right they left Leeds.

Armband means nothing especially in a friendly before he even has his whole squad yet.

George Boyd. TBH I don't know loads about him but he seems good to me...... But where have these rumours come from? It's total rumour mill stuff, not a single good source linking us, correct? {Ed013's Note - I would pick him up and drive him to Elland Road tomorrow!}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Basically because he's a poor man's Snoddy. he is good though.

1st time poster, but am always on d site, y are we playing rubbish teams in pre season, can anybody tell me? {Ed013's Note - Its Neil's method and has worked before. It builds up match fitness as well as match confidence with winning. We were due to play a Prem team before the cup draw. Preston on sat will give a better indication of where we are. Remember, these players haven't played together and don't want to be getting beat in all pre-season games as they will start season with heads down}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Fair enough ed, but i think we will be found out against wolves in d opener, hope i am wrong, I thought we would beat Southampton last yr so u never know {Ed013's Note - I understand mate, we will be a lot harder to beat under Neil}

With AOB gone and with Nunez, Paynter, Rachubka and Connolly close to leaving the wages will free up deals for 5 players.
RB - Probably Peltier
CB - Probably Matt Connolly
Winger - George Boyd
AM - Lewis Mcgugan
ST - Maynard

Funded by Snodgrass being sold and wages from deadwood that will be leaving.

Those acquisitions occur in this window and the league is ours.

Hi Ed?
What formation do uou think warnock will play Ed?
If Warnock plays 4-2-3-1. And he's mentioned that he's in the hunt for a striker, as its likely that Becchio will be out and not in top form as of his lack of fitness. So I think he may play

Austin Green
Varney Macca White
Mystery striker?!

If not

Austin green
Varney Norris White
McCormack

What do you think? Which CM's will he play and who'd you think our strikers will be ?!

Callum; MOT! {Ed013's Note - I can see this;

---------------------Paddy-------------------------
RB------------Lees----------Pearce-----------Drury

-----------------Norris/Austin----------------------

White/RW-----------------------------------Rogers

-------------------Varney/Green--------------------

------------Becchio-----------McCormack-----------

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I think i agree with exception of Green/Norris: Swap them around, Green more of a playmaker and NW said he wants goals from Norris. Gr8 team tho cant wait for New season MOT

Just watched Ross McCormack interview on LUTV in which he states that he is waiting for Leeds to offer him another contract because he would love to stay, his wife likes the area and having an 8 month old baby to consider he is very settled here, he knows that other clubs have made offers for him but if the contract is acceptable to him he would love to stay, on the other hand if the contract is not what he is looking for then he will be forced to look elsewhere for the sake of his family and of course himself. Reading between the lines it seams to me that Leeds are contemplating making a better offer to McCormak and maybe bringing in wide players to help supply him and Becchio up front, he also commented that he thinks the core of the squad is looking good now and that he thinks wide areas of the field need to be strengthened before anywhere else, he started later in the interview that he is pleased Snodgrass is getting his chance at premier football but seams to think that we are much stronger with the new players than we was this time last year.

white4ever......

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Ross is spot on. Said all along NW likes to use wingers. Becchio should do well. Ross better than before because I think he is a better fox in the box than someone like Jermaine who has other strengths. This is why I think we will see Boyd at the football club. Tricky pacey winger.

Kisnorbo did well for Leeds in the season before his first injury but came back half the player with half the pace. Its a shame as when he was at his best he was superb, but I think he should move on now

Leeds United have taken French prospect Kevin Gomez on trial

The 20-year-old midfielder arrived in England last month, and trained with non-league outfit Peckham United.

But the highly-rated youngster soon had a number of league clubs inviting him to train and Leeds are now at the front of the queue after taking him to West Yorkshire.

He played for Neil Redfearn's Under-21 side against Bridlington earlier this week, and is believed to have made a big impression on Leeds' coaching staff.

Now Leeds boss Neil Warnock is contemplating finalising a deal for Gomez - whose only previous experience has been in the lower leagues in France.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Oooh great......not

What do you mean oh great? It's not like any of us have seen him play. He could be fantastic. It's only a trial so far. How many of us knew Becchio before he signed?

More a note of caution than a rumour. But I don't think we should expect miracles from Austin, I've seen the vids and he looks excellent (wasn't Nuness in the clips?) I would love nothing better than for him to be the next dacourt/bowyer rolled into one, but we should give the lad a chance to bed in.

He's come for 300K with seemingly no interest from elsewhere and it's not often you get a bargain like that. Just a reality check rather than being negative.

Morph MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable0

"Just a reality check rather than being negative."

No, you ARE actually just being NEGATIVE about Austin......

How much did we pay for Beckford when we got him, and who else was after him?

Agree4 Disagree1

In what way is what we paid for Beckford relevant? They are two entirely separate people. Silly, silly post. The first poster is right - we should judge players when we've seen them playing for Leeds. Not on YouTube or even for other teams. Brolin graced a world cup but was pretty dire at ER and who would have predicted that? He might not fit into the system. He might not adapt to the pace of the English game. Not being negative here - I hope he's brilliant - but you can't take stuff for granted and everyone seems to have him down as a legend before he's even kicked a ball FOR US....

Agree2 Disagree0

Wasn't Chelsea trying to sign Beckford at the time and did he not go out on loan twice before finding his feet ?

My Leeds team, based un who we know we have for sure:

Kenny
Thompson, Lees, Pearce, Pugh
White, Green, Austin, Rogers
McCormack, Becchio

Subs: Drury, Kisnorbo, Brown, Pugh, Varney, Gray + keeper

With a few young lads such as Poleon coming through but I think NW will sign three more soon

Believable0 Unbelievable2

There's only 2 Danny Pughs, Danny Danny Danny Danny Pughhhhh! How come he is left back and on the subs bench?

Agree2 Disagree0

Youd pick Pugh over Drury haha?

Agree2 Disagree0

Not seen much of Drury, but he has been virtually ever present for Naaarwich. He's got to be better than Pugh... come on the clue is in the name!

Mad Mick Hennigan

Agree2 Disagree0

Pugh won't make the starting 11,i was surprised warnock wanted to keep him, maybe the fact he can play a couple of positions...Larry should have walked away from that deal 500k was far too much considering what we got for Gradel

It worries me that Blackpool want paynter. Have they seen something we haven't? I'm which case why haven't we? And we should keep him if so.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Did it worry you when Paynter went to Brighton on loan? Did Poyet see something in Paynter that Leeds didn't? If so, Poyet quickly became convinced he got it wrong and Paynter was back with us. Let him go. Forthwith!

Agree1 Disagree0

Paynter got injured in his first pre season and never seemed to recover fully ,but did show signs in his 2nd the game against Peterborough at end of season when he scored 2 goals and i think who ever he is at this season coming he will score goals given the chance to play.

Agree3 Disagree0

The most nonsensical comment I've read in a very long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe they need another donkey on the pleasure beach, or a banjo player in the 'tower'?

Seriously, after giving him two years wrth of chances, how many more do you think we should give him?

I'd rather give his wages to McCormack on top of his own to try and entice HIM to stay....

If paynter was fit i think i would rather have him on the bench than Andy Gray

With the takeover now looking like it won't be completed before the transfer window ends (thanks KB for you dodgy dealings that has made due diligence last forever while every little account where you sent money is checked, sorry rant over) do people think we have a good enough team to be up near the top of the table come christmas when Leeds will have money to spend. If were too far out of touch with the top places it won't matter how much we spend Leeds may not catch up.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Defensively we look like we are strong enough to challenge for top 6 but attacking we look weak if we get any injuries , bring in a new striker that can get 20 goals a season and keep mccormack as well then maybe top 6 will be achievable.

Has the transfer window closed yet ? Still think
Warnock has to bring in a right back , right wing,
and a striker or maybe another attacking midfield
Priority to be given to a right back and a winger
(Replacing Snodgrass).Has Martin Crainie been
sign up yet? He will act as cover for Pearce and
Lees if any one of them is injured. The rest of the
team is covered. Hopefully Leeds can bring in
Boyd and Beckford and a good right back. Peltier
is Warnock's first choice but to me he is quite
expensive. I prefer Halford. Pity he has gone to
Forest.Leave it to Warnock.Leeds will have a
team strong enough to challenge for the Premier
League next season. MOT.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Last day of transfer window is 31st august.
we will get a right back but there wont be a winger to replace snodgrass but there will be a large amount of money spent on a striker which is where we really need investment if you look at our squad . midfield is finished now unless we bring in a bit of flair

Agree2 Disagree0

White and Rodgers are the new wing set up

Agree2 Disagree0

Flair and creativity are the requirement now (no more 'honest', 'hard working', 'solid', 'put their foot in,' 'reliable' players. We've got loads of them now). We nned pace, skill, vision, craft etc to open up defences.

Pearce for me, and I'm certain he will be.

Me getting a bit tetchy about this take over, i have to ask why it is taking so long.......other buy out of clubs seem to be done a lot quicker. I really cant understand why we are getting new players in on freebies if the new consortium were going to make funds available for new players...will we ever see the 3 mill we got for snoddy

Hope this is not another Ken Bates smoke screen.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Whats wrong with good freebies . if we can get players in for free/cheap that are better than what we have already got then whats the problem .the only reason they are free is because they have refused to sign contracts at there original club .we have now got quite a solid looking team and not spent too much money leaving us with around 9 mil to buy players with when the takeover is complete ,weather its before this window shuts we get to spend it or January but we can spend a decent chunk on 2 strikers and a right back
