Ive been quiet on here for a while as many of the old boys have I've noticed. I've been to 6 of the games this year, 4 at home and 2 away, and i find that we play a very different game at home to what we do away.

The lineup is different, there is less confidence going forward, and we seem to be shy infront of goal away from home. For me the key, like many others believe, is that we are trying to force too much of a skill element into our team through including saiz and hernandez.

This for me isn't working. Hernandez is a quality player and serves us well on his day, however, has it not been saiz's day yet? he constantly proves capable of playing at this level and proves difficult to mark for opponents. At cardiff, the intentions of playing Bamba in holding midfield was to makr saiz, hernandez hasn't got the pace to beat this trap like saiz does anymore, and therefore bamba ran the show.

playing hernandez wide doesn't suit our style, and i am crying out for dallas to start this weekend as a result. This league is tough, we all say it, this year hernandez won't last starting out wide for 40 odd games as he will tire after about 25 maximum and fail to produce from here onwards.

I also think we need to give cibiki a go, we've signed a goalscorer and he hasn't had a minute on the pitch yet. I am bold in saying this but for me these two should start against bristol, as we are the out of form, least favoured side, with less to lose than the opposition.

To see hernandez come on and sit aden flint on his arse would make my day. Finally, I think lonergan should stay in net for us as he's proved to be ok in the games he has started, eg burnley and reading. So then, my starting 11. I'd play it very differently, a 4-3-3 with an attacking midfielder and 2 sitting.

Longergan, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Anita, Vieira, O'kane, Saiz, Alioski, Dallas, Cibicki. Prediction 0-1 leeds with alioski the scorer. Back me at 14/1 on sky bet :D

Agree samo about dallas and cibiki, what worries me is our manager said in the yep that the week building up to the reading game the player that most impressed him in training was cibiki yet he only kept a seat warm for 90mins. I'd like to see a old-fashioned 4_4_2 or a 4_1_3_2 maybe. Cibiki and lassogna or even cibiki and roofe to terrorise the centre half's. Viera as holding midfield with said. Alioski and okane in midfield. Usual back 4 four for me

Great post Samo, I totally agree with about our style of play, it’s to predictable in the way that we try to outsmart other teams with fancy skill, when the old fashioned get stuck in football is needed! I would like to see Cibicki and Lasogga up front with Roofe sat just behind them with Saiz and Dallas on the wings, Lonergan to stay in goal with Beradi, Jansen, Cooper and Anita across the back and Viera in the middle as an old fashioned playmaker so my formation would be 4 3 1 2. Hernandez should be used as a sub along with Grot, Pennington, Felix, Alioski and Philips. The teams with tall attackers is where Pennington should be playing instead of Anita. What do you all reckon to my thoughts. MOT

Roofe ? Not good enough to earn a starting spot

I like the idea of a 442, but it doesn't suit us imo. Reasons for this are, saiz is a number 10 out and out, and playing him CM puts massive pressure on the other CM to defend against potentially 3 other CM's in some teams. Alioski, Sacko, and Roofe are the 3 to choose from on the right, none of them defend when put in this wide position so that again leaves huge pressure on your full back. Positive however is that dallas doesa a lot of defensive work so he would manage well in this formation, as he does for N Ireland. On the other hand, i love the sound of a 4312. The demand for this though is to keep it narrow and feed it into the strikers feet, with one like Cibicki and one like Lassoga, they can switch and change the style of through ball that we play and who to look for, and with hernandez or Saiz in that number 10 we could rip open some defences in this league. Main focus for me this weekend thinking on it is that we NEED Vieira back in the 11. Everybody is saying it and i think TC knows he needs to guve him a chance, we have no other combative, rough and ready CM like him, I love the boy! let's show were not done yet an dthat Leeds are up here for the season with at least a point, for me all 3 would be great but bristol are well drilled with threats in attack and a solid back 4. Baker and Flint need to be shoved about by lassoga, meaning 2 up top is key. I beg that TC listens to me and hires me friday afternoon, if he does ill have a word with alioski about that hair cut:D new opinion on formation. 4312. Lonergan, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, CBJ, Vieira, Alioski, Dallas, Saiz, Cibicki, Lassoga. still believe in a 0-1 or a 0-2 leeds, clean sheet more important than anything though. MOT brothers, get behind your f*****g team!

That line up will get over run in midfield midfield 3 of o Kane, vierra Phillips Saiz wherever he damn well likes playing off Lassoga Wide men alioski and Dallas sakho to nip on late and Grab a late winner Pretty sure cbj isn't that highly rated by TM so Anita or Berhardi at LB Trust me 8 championships in 13 years, my trophy cabinet doesn't lie

Samo, I would argue that Alioski does plenty of tracking back and is probably the reason why he is not as effective going forward (expended energy)

Beats me why people want Alioski playing on right when his best game is on left? Agree with Notts he does his share defending, in fact i would play him at left back and Roofe on the left as that's where most of his goals came from when he was prolific.

Ok. Look i get what everybody is saying about being positive. But we have had a fair share of crap over last decade. All of a sudden things were looking bright and then bang. Up in smoke again. Now i know we bought a lot of players in but i wonder. How many teams still are trying out diff players in their main 11? How many teams get sussed and don't have plan b? Still! I think we have the talent to be top 6. But they need to start playing and earn their keep! Its not a pussy league so man up and get stuck in.

Aus, maybe we're just not as good as we thought we were. After all four of the teams we have beaten are in the bottom four now. We did play really well at the start of the season and I also thought things were looking up for once and we were going up this season, but maybe that is being a bit greedy! We really need to give Radz the time to build us back up and if that takes longer than we'd hope then so be it. We will get there it's just a matter of when. MOT.

Dont know why we play people out of position. Berardi and Anita not left backs so if we not playing BJ would rather use Alioski as wing back. Roofe not right sided played all his best games on left. Pablo neither, imo only good for half an hour. Alioski best on left as well. So Sacko Ayling and Berardi should be sorting right side out, Coyle would have been handy as well. Not impressed with Lassoga looks average. Ekuban was more of a threat. Said before Phillips and Viera need rotating regularly. At the moment only Saiz and O, Kane would be automatic choices for me. We have a decent squad and i have faith we will come good again. Just riles me we are still playing players out of position.

I feel like TC has been a victim of his own success. Absolutely dream start, going through a tough patch and he and the team are getting a lot of stick. Everyone goes through a rough patch, that's the nature of the beast, a couple of wins on the bounce and opinion will start to sway again. Keep the faith!

Disagree oleary. Rough patch its not. We are being beaten because we have fallen apart and need fixing. Its won't just turnaround without changing and being proactive. Wont fix itself.

I don't think OLeary was suggesting that things didn't need fixing (I would use the word 'adjusting' rather than fixing as I don't think anything is essentially 'broken') . I think OLeary was simply making the point that TC had a dream start and people need to keep the faith. I for one agree with him. Once the adjustments have been made, we will be back to winning ways. TC just have to find another winning formula.

Luck doesn't exist but if it did it would ebb and flow and will return sooner or later. We've had a run of tough games and are learning some hard lessons but we will come out of it eventually.

I firmly believe we can't start with both Saiz and Hernandez. Both players are slow. Whilst you can afford to have one key player who lacks pace but makes up for it with ability on the ball (and vision) - fielding 2 opens up a vulnerability. Pablo is better left to be brought on later in the game when the opposition's legs are a little heavier.

Took in some non-league FA Cup action tonight - Boston United v Chorley. Chorley's number 7, Nick Haughton on loan from Fleetwood was man of the match. Bossed the Midfield and then strolled through and scored a very skillful hat trick. Messi-like. Their goalkeeper Matt Urwin also made three fine saves.

Funny you mentioned the hat-trick lad and the keeper, they can't play in the next round because they're both on loan from Fleetwood, who are Chorleys next opponents :)

I really believe that we need to retain / regain our positivity. This is by far the most stable, and positive position we have been in since "living the dream" but spend more than you can dream of, was here. It's not going to happen overnight, and maybe not this season, but we are coming back.
