read a few articles in YEP about the TV deal and MC and apprently a few teams are behind the deal.

Of course peterbourghs Chairman said it was madness but then he is protecting his club as if this deal went ahead his club like others would lose money, MC and few other clubs (Derby and Forest being two of the others I believe) are also behind the deal as it would be better for the bigger clubs in league.

I have to say I am behind MC and the bigger clubs 100%. In a fair world all clubs would get the same TV deal from Man City to yovil and all teams would get same exposure but Sky would never agree to this. so next best thing surely would be a fair deal in the buisness and money world that sky have created.

like it or not (which I don't like it but we have to be realistic) football is now a business and an export which makes sky the powerhouse that it is. I think it is only fair that we get a deal that represents our brand or sky are forced to be fairer with the deal. We have been on tv 13 times at least this season which is far more than a lot of prem clubs yet we are given less. In what other world would this be fair. Also we would be distoryed under FFP which the league inflict, the league also deducted us points 10000 points when we went under and they like football to co-inside with sound money/ buiness model. if this is the case the said club who can be punished should be able to make its own deal. It should be a bit more transparent and black and white as the football league will pander to sky and sky want it all their own way.

As I have said I work in tv film and commercial and this deal is nothing like fair or as it should be. I understand football purist and I am behind them but if that is the case the deal has to be even and pure which would never ever happen (can you see sky putting on heartlepool the same amount of times as Arsenal? ) so then a different deal has to be set up.

Sky have pretty much set up a season ticket camera with leeds this year but don't want to pay for it as they feel peterbourgh deserve the same deal (peterborugh was last on sky the same year the berlin wall come down)

sorry to rant but read this and really think it is unjust and not fair and know if my client was being treated this way I would go to equity and court and sue the tv company or producer in charge.

Dont ever be sorry for a rant n rave BW, is what this site all about.

Anyway always good to hear from someone who is in "the biz" for this particular story as can give a more informed insight sometimes.

obviously I work from a different side but how things work with actors is you get a basic studio fee for filming then a buy out for the rights to images. this depends on the power of the product (nike for example pay well as oppose to lesser bands that pay equity minimum) then they pay your for a set amount of time (normally 6 months) then if they show this over that set time they have to pay same amount again plus 15% for another six months then again plus 30% etc. I did a paddy power advert that was meant to run for 6 months and showed for three years so the money was very very good. the deal with sky is bit different as a season is a season but in line with other tv deals it should be

all teams get paid x amount for season (the lower the league/ brand the lower the fee) this would cover say 4 games, after that an extra fee of 'x' amount plus 5% for one game then 15% and up and up for each time they go over the said 4 games. if this was in line with leeds as we have been on tv 13 times this season we should get fee plus 200% as it has gone over a long amount. this would also be incentive to get in play offs as these games would be at a higher rate. I know some would say this widens the gap with have's and have nots but I would also argue that it rewards good performances and smaller teams that make play offs would get good fee. it would also stop sky realying on the big champ teams to make up 80% of their FL schedule or at least give a fair deal to these teams who at the moment are being exploited (i know exploited is strong word but if this was happening to an actor it is the word that would be used and the producers would be sued no doubts about it)

Go on then, I'll ask the question.
Any for Becchio in the emergency loan window?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

18 Feb 2016 21:53:10
as our season is pretty much over I would not be interested in any loan unless it was with a view to perminant signing no point getting other teams players fit unless they might be leeds next year.

Lucas. Love Becchio. But it's a no from me.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2016 23:39:53
Well I think we will see about beccs in the next few weeks with Rotherham on how he performs, I personally think we missed out on a no brainer, let's face it, he was free to sign on a play as you play contract, if he is fit and free from injury he only has to regain match fitness and some confidence from scoring, it's not as if he is ancient, it's a no brainer! But I guess we will see soon with his progress with Colin! 😂.

19 Feb 2016 10:15:44
No no, the past is the past, leave it behind and move on, he was good but that was then not now, no point, we need to build towards the future.

19 Feb 2016 11:19:36
I was having a couple of pints with a mate of mine who is a massive Norwich fan, he has just moved back from there and the first thing he told me was Becchio, waste of time. He went to an end of season fans forum, met Chris Hughton and other staff and asked why Becchio never played. He was told he was lazy, always turned up late for training and thought he was better than everyone else, so was basically left to rot in the reserves. The parting quote from Hughton was, we are running a club here, not one persons benefit.

I'm wouldn't have him back was just bored, trying to get a reaction and haven't read anyone ask for a while. My dog told me to post it or he said he would have bitten my toes off!
Anyone for the pub?

That's a yes from me Lucas. Btw. Don't suppose anyone on here lives in York?

18 Feb 2016 20:38:35
Totally agree with SE and MC that no point in bringing anyone in during emergency window unless we have a chance to keep them if they are any good. However, on that basis, I don't expect any arrivals.

The emergency loan window has been open for a while now and I think we will make a few signings

I think Agbonlahor should be signed from Aston Villa, he is very fast and has proven he can score goals in the past, and as Aston Villa will be with us in the Championship next year I think he will be a good singing if we could scoop him up

Also, Ryan Seager from Southhampton would be a good addition, he scored 21 times for the Southampton U21 last season

Lafferty will also be a good addition if we can sign him, he already has a good partnership with Dallas from playing on a international level

And finally Keane from Burnley. He is a young centre back and has proven himself at championship and premier league standards in the last few years. I think he will be a good addition but will be more likely to be signed in the summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - didn't Ryan Seager just suffer an ACL injury and so got sent back to Saints?}

18 Feb 2016 22:32:50
think agbonlahor is no chance as he is playing for villa and one of their more important players at the moment I think but of course think if we could get him he would be decent at this level (not great but better than most)

i don't rate lafferty and wasnt their a problem that they would let him go but not sell him? which is that is the case I don't want would rather play erwin as he did ok other night and at least he is ours.

Does anyone care anyway? He's signed for Burnley now and not ours. Barton's probably saying that to appease the Burnley fans to make them feel like he wanted to go there, on this occasion I'm inclined to believe Redders.

He also said we could of had Philips from qpr even though qpr turned down 8 million for do you believe him there as well.

Morning all. I wanted to let you know that I woke up this morning to an optimistic vision; We are going to win the FA Cup!

Try not to spill you coffee as you laugh, and Mrs Optimistic; don't call the doctors quite yet!

Yeah it's sounds a little crazy but if we can get past Watford we are only 2 games away from the final. The magic of the cup is still very much alive and anything can happen.

I'm going with a 2-1 win to Leeds on Saturday, goals from the Duke and Cook. MOT.

Was feeling your opptomism all they way Danny. That's it I thought we're going to win the cup. It's got our name on it. Then you had to spoil it. Cook to score, ramblings of a madman.

18 Feb 2016 09:44:38
hope your right,

have to say seeing all the fa cup memories and posts like this one make me a little jealous as I really don't care about the cup and think it is a generation thing maybe? don't get me wrong i'd like (not love) to win it, nice bit of success and couple of days at wembley but it doesn't really excite me and I see this as a week without important football and a distraction from the league which I myself think is very sad and wished I could get into the cup more. wondering if any other fans around my age feel like this (im 32) or if it might be because my first memomries were when we kept drawing with arsenal and then they beat us in the 3rd replay, then years later I went to wembley and got all excited when we played villa in league cup final to get stompped and then when older I saw the good fa cup displays really affect our league.

so is it this or am I just a mean man who can not feel the love of the cup. or love in general?

18 Feb 2016 10:04:18
Believe me BW if we get past Watford you will soon be in love with the FA Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2016 10:13:26
hope so mate, it is a bit like my wife, I like it and want to love it but just can't really get excited by it and see it as a distraction to other 'better' things in life such as the league and 'Claire' from work.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2016 10:18:15
Bermondsey I'm only 32 myself so share your envy of not seeing the glory days like 1972. I still like the cup though and it gives us something to get excited about when our league campaign is effectively already over. To be honest though. It doesn't matter whether Leeds play a league game, a cup tie, or even a pre-season friendly, I'll still get behind the team.

I felt a bit fed up last week which was reflected in my posts, however after a good performance on Monday and a chance to progress in the cup come Saturday, I'm feeling more optimistic once again. Fingers crossed the Cellino issues will get resolved soon, one way or another. We can then move forward.

You do also realise that we'll be playing in Europe next season after winning the cup don't you!

On a non football related matter - do you think you need to see a sex addiction therapist? Just a thought.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Feb 2016 11:07:26
good to see your optomisim Danny and think it is starting to rub off on me. Europe would be good and need to dust off my passport

and speedy I doubt I need to see a sex addiction therapist I never want sex with my wife so that can't be a problem can it?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2016 11:35:29
BW I'm getting a bit worried. First you start talking about this Claire, and now me rubbing off on you! I think you might need a therapist.

He'll rub off on anyone Danny. He's just a tart!

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2016 12:49:18
oi speedy that is a bit harsh. completely fair but still. and you need to see claire to understand she is like my wife but don't moan at me and she is the perfect mix of good looking enough to take to pub and been seen out with but flawed enough to stand a chance. If we get to wembley I might take them both so at least someone should score that day.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2016 13:13:08
Lol @ BW. If we do get to Wembley and you do take them, I think you are more likely to score! Unless we've signed a striker by then of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Unless Claire and his Mrs are on the same team part-time and BW's left watching the action from the bench with his water bottle in his hand.}

18 Feb 2016 14:35:27
i would settle for that ed007 in fact that would be best result all round

BW he scores when he wants (just most of them are own goals or at best scrappy)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The sad thing is that that's married life mate. I hope all the younger lads seeing this take it as a warning.}

18 Feb 2016 14:52:48
agree the trouble is the one you propse to is never the same as the woman you marry. We only got engaged because I lost a bet with her and leeds beat forest. The one time we beat them and it ruins my life. I hope loyd Sam is happy. I know I aint.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Hahahahaha! You better make sure she never sees these pages on your phone.}

18 Feb 2016 16:22:01
I feel your pain BW. I only started dating my bread knife to get to her sister. I even married her in the hope that the now Mrs Mick's sister would be up for a little spot of cheating. Fifteen years on and she has showed no sign of giving in to my advances. Still Mick's a patient boy and alcohol does miraculous things!

By the way, when did Lloyd Sam ever score a winner against Forest? I was at that game (in the home end) and we drew 1-1 to my recollection.

Just a quick reply to BM. Foreign players and Champions League has ruined the FA cup and also destroyed the League cup. I am 55 and all those in the same age group as me will agree that there was NOTHING like seeing your team through to the final of the FA cup. It was the dream of every player / supporter to see your team walk out on the hallowed turf of wembly. Now these domestic cups seem to have lost their shine. Foreign players don't have the passion as they didn't grow up with it, hence it doesn't mean anything to them and all the money revolves around the Champions league. So BM you should feel a bit jealous having missed those days, but we feel an emptiness and a loss as it just isn't the same.

Come on Leeds . Give us our day in the sun
(I live in Australia and the missus allows me to go to our next Final. so please)

2 - 0 Leeds The Douk and Anti with last minute goal.

18 Feb 2016 22:07:10
good point Fredh I have seen all the old videos and love the feel of the old cup game but don't feel is it quite right now days. also the idea of a cup tied player seems odd in todays market, I understand back in the day buying a player to win a final but now days you are less likely and signings are all about league (wonder if they will do league tied as that would be just madness)

and no the game I am on about we were away from home, me and the mrs (who was back then not the mrs and a size six and in early 20's) were doing our weekly bet and she said she would back leeds to which I laughed and said forest away from home, if we win i'll marry you. we won 1-4 and sam was MOM and played a blinder. few years, stone and one baby later and I am here.
