latest odds on Top Scorer is Jordan Rhodes at 8/1, are they serious, he had one good season last term and now everybody seems to think he is Messi, he isnt proven at this level, and didnt do much until last season, hes very over-rated! Better strikers in the division by far, we have 3 ourselves in Becchio Somma and McCormack!!

Grant holt rickey lambert followed on to the championchip so I think he will to.

Beccho and Somma, you must be having a laugh.

Hi eds, posted few times with bit of info on takeover. Was wondering what your thoughts were on the takeover? Seems very quiet? Any doubts? {Ed013's Note - My own opinion and that's all it is, no source etc is that with the way Mr Bates has run the club with offshore accounts and the "who owns Elland Road/Thorpe Arch" mystery, he has made it a very complicated Takeover. I believe it would have been quicker if it was one person buying the club, but it seems to be a group of people so that in itself offers difficulties as everyone has to agree. People compare Forest, but there's was easier due to the tragedy of the loss of their owner. Neil seems confident and has asked for patience in the coming weeks. One thing is for sure, Neil would have walked if he didn't know what the possibilities of the future hold}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I've got a feeling we will still see players trickle in over pre season. Then just before start of season we will know the outcome. I feel Warnock was brought in as part of there deal. They wanted sure hands on the deck because know doubt he would be at another club, by time it was complete.

Just looking at NW's view on Norwich bid for RS. Re-iterating his wish to keep Snoddy but significantly muted compared to his previous voicings on this matter. Looks like the Norwich bid was a tester, i anticipate a bid coming in nearer 3mill. Which, sadly, will be accepted. .....Lufc now officially a Norwich feeder club. Also as an aside it doesnt seem that RS is impressed enough by the what the 'takeover' offers. Hence not signing a new deal thus far. I hope im wrong in my opinions expressed above. Just how i see it at the moment. Paul LLHB

I'm concerned that we are not hearing much about the takeover. What concerns me more is that there is plenty of speculation surrounding transfers coming in, however if a takeover was due, surely we would be holding fire on the transfers so that we can then start putting in larger bids for big names? Just concerned! Weneed this news sooner rather than later! MOT Lee {Ed013's Note - LUST have made an announcement tonight saying things are fine and to be patient}

I am really sick of scouring news coverage and rumour sites about this takeover talk. With the forest one going through everyone seems to be panicking. There must be some substance to story or ssn wouldn't have even mentioned it as well as the official website. Recieved an email from lust today asking kb to provide us with an update. Doesnt anyone realise these things take time, bottom line neil warnock wouldn't still be here as he has previously stated he has had other offers after we missed out on joel ward, he must know more than he is letting on or he would of walked in june to take forest job, please everyone (including lust) just calm down, dont provoke bates or i wouldnt put it past him to mess the 'investment' up just to spite us. just be patient and wait for official announcements. all these bs talkers need to provide sources or not bother posting, thanks mot

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Bates wouldn't do that now. Could you imagine the size of the crowds at EL, if had put a spanner in the works. If crowds do fall big time, Then it will be Bates's pocket that will be funding player wages not are's and we know Master Bates, better than anyone. NOT A CHANCE!!

Leeds have rejected Norwich's latest offer for captain Robert Snodgrass, manager Neil Warnock has confirmed.

The Scotland winger has been offered a new deal at Elland Road which would make him the highest-paid player at the Championship club.

Warnock is waiting on a response while also trying to fend off continued interest from the Premier League Canaries.

"It's been made public that they (Norwich) have bid, but from our own point of view it's not what we're looking for," Warnock told the West Yorkshire club's official website.

"We'd like to keep Rob, and Rob knows that. Whether that will be possible we'll have to wait and see.

"It's difficult when players get their heads turned, but I'd like to keep Rob at the club and that's what I'm trying to do at the moment.

"Unless they come up with a valuation that the club thinks is satisfactory then that's what we want to do."

Dear Ed,
I, (probably amongst others) am very confused at the moment trying to seperate the plausable rumours, from the utter nonsense regarding the takeover/buy out/ investment. so could someone please help me out with a bit of clarity as to what are the facts amongst what we know so far.... you'd think that the OS would at least give us something, rather than leaving us in the lurch about all this... i know we as a club don't like to make announcements until everything is set in stone.... but throw us a bone!!

L.U.S.T. Update - Takeover, Players and the New Season
With pre-season training underway at Thorp Arch and the team preparing for its first friendly against Farsley on Friday, Leeds United Supporters' Trust believes it is time for the fans' patience this summer to be rewarded with concrete news regarding the club's future.

We understand the reasons why the current negotiation process should take place behind closed doors, and have encouraged anxious Leeds fans to be patient and allow the process to run its course.

From what we understand, no major problems have occurred during the due diligence process. While we respect that the club's last statement referred to a confidentiality clause, we believe the club could make a positive statement to the fans without jeopardising negotiations.

We have reached the point in the summer, however, where the lack of clarity about the situation at Elland Road could impact on the team's performance next season.

We support Neil Warnock's attempts to revitalise his squad, but are concerned that while the future ownership of the club remains in question, that he cannot plan a successful strategy for promotion. Unless the situation is resolved soon, we could be playing catch up throughout the season instead of leading from the front.

While new signings are obviously critical, we believe it is also vital that the club learns from the experiences of recent signings and ensures it holds on to its best players. The news stories circulating about interest from other clubs are taking their toll on supporter confidence and morale, and we believe a statement of intent is required.

In our Vision Statement, we call for the club to change the way it communicates with fans and become more open, and for the priority at the club to be building a strong football team. In the spirit of those aims, we urge the club to give the fans an update on the takeover negotiations, and to show its real intent towards promotion by helping Neil Warnock assemble the strongest possible squad.

Trust Chairman, Gary Cooper, will be speaking with Adam Pope between 6 - 7pm on West Yorkshire Sport tonight on BBC Radio Leeds - 92.4 FM and 103.9 FM, 774 AM and DAB radio.

I think there is no takeover what so ever and unfortunately think we r a lost cause because nobody will take on the mess Bates has got us in and b4 someone says he saved us we also made him richer with all the money he has got out of the club

Believable2 Unbelievable6

I agree that we have made him richer, but would you care to elaborate on the "mess" he has left us in ? More or less of a mess than Ridsdale left us in ?

I'm no fan of Bates, but I will argue with anyone who denies we're in a better position now than when he took over.

I see Mr Pessimistic is back again then.....

Why don't you just post:

It would be just as exciting......

If there is no takeover, why are you writing about one?

Agree1 Disagree0

A mess of ownership issues. if the takeover has fallen through it's probably due to the complex web of holding companies that own our assets.

Agree1 Disagree1

When he first took over we'd nearly got back into the premiership via the play offs and were in the same league we're in now. We were also solvent. It was Bates that put us under in the first place. Why do all you apologists for Bates conveniently forget that? He cost us 25 points in deductions and has dragged our reputation down with offshore companies, dodgy ownership issues and so on. No, we are NOT in a better position than when Bates came in. We're in the same position in football terms with less hope.

Agree4 Disagree3

Can we stop bitching about what Bates has or has not done and look forward to whatever future we have coming?

It's bad enough everyone having to put up with all the lies and false predictions on here regarding the takeover being off without everyone dragging up the past which we are hoping to escape from?

Look forward and hope, not backwards and bitch?

We can't change what's happened, but we can look forward to a new future...

Oh, sorry, looks like someone's beaten me to it, several in fact?

Its as simple as this. We so wound up about the sale of the club and the transfer situation. The press and other sides supporters are having a field day winding us up with nonsence and speculation. NW has said he was after Ward. When has he mentioned Peltier, Norris, Varney and anyone else other than Austin? The press are getting their page hits up by speculating.
The takeover will happen, at the moment NW is having to sell to buy as the new owners haven't taken control yet. Re Snodgrass, McCormack and White - If they want to go elsewhere, then so be it! Lets get people in that WANT to play for Leeds on a REASONABLE wage.

With regards to any impending Takeover we will be informed once it either does or doesn't happen. Obviously it is not a straightforward deal like the recent T/O of Forest as clearly there are other bodies who own part of Leeds. As posted by other posters a T/O along with due diligence can take between 2 weeks to 3 months. Dont read into Snodgrass possibly leaving meaning that it has collapsed , just think he may want to move on.

Lads, calm down. Don't let the wind up merchants get your backs up! If the deal was off Leeds would release the news. Ken Bates would be straight on Yorkshire Radio telling us that the other party was useless/wouldn't put up the money/not good for the club etc. He can't help that sort of stuff. He loves the attention too much. Also don't take Forest as an example of how quickly it can be done. The ownsership structure there was simple and they were a much more willing seller after the death of the chairman. The purchase of Leeds will be very complicated and time comsuming. It's happening, relax.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

We haven't got time to wait I'm afraid. It's as simple as that.

Agree6 Disagree1

Why havn't we got time to waste?

Who said time is been wasted?

Ken will by trying to sell the club as fast as he can, whether its this week or next it doesn't really matter as long as it happens at some point. In the meantime NW is doing the best he can

Agree0 Disagree5

Whether weve got time or not pal, waiting is what were having to do

Agree1 Disagree4

'We haven't got time to wait I'm afraid. It's as simple as that'

I'm afraid you'll have to wait its as simple as that.

Agree1 Disagree5

We don't have to wait at all. We can sell Snodgrass. We need to do that asap because, no matter how chilled out you all seem to be, this takeover still has EVERY CHANCE of not going through. Bates the old **** has wound a complex web of dodgy deals around our club, which must be an absolute nightmare to sift through.

So if you'd rather wait for it all to collapse, while Warnock waits for funds which never arrive, and we wait for decent signings which never materialise, then fair enough.

Sorry to pee on your bonfires my friends but - that is the way back to League One.

Agree5 Disagree1

"We haven't got time to wait I'm afraid. It's as simple as that."

Sorry to pee on your comments 'friend' but we are around for as long as it takes, there's never been an instant fix, and never will be - that isn't the Leeds way.

I for one WILL wait and see, mainly because I for one have no power over who we sell or don't sell, or when we do it or not, and neither have you!

You WILL just have to wait like the rest of us, unless your name is Bates or Warnock, that is, but then you'd hardly be on here would you?

Suggest if you aren't going to wait you might like to get a lift over to the other side of the penines and try one of the two teams over there - you won't have to wait for them to get into the premiership.....

Leeds4alongtime (and prepared to wait a lot longer - still)

Agree1 Disagree3

"Sorry to pee on your bonfires my friends "

So Mr friendly bonfire pee-oner, your idea would be to sell one player - Snodgrass, and purchase what? One other player (now that WOULD be a total pointless waste of time) or several others?

And when the takeover fails (your words) we then have several more players than we started with and no extra income to pay their wages?

That's not the way to end up in league 1, mate, that's the way to end up bankrupt or in administration (yet again!)

Is your name Ridsdale by any chance? He was pretty impatient too, and wanted everything done yesterday....

Agree1 Disagree3

I have honestly never read so much tripe in all my life! So, "wise guys", what do you suggest happens then, if;

We're still waiting for the takeover on August 18th, when the season starts?

AND we WAIT until the last day of the transfer window to sell Snodgrass, who will definitely leave if there's no takeover?(remember Gradel last year?)

So you are seriously happy with that situation? Have you not noticed, we're having to sell to buy? Have you seen the squad as it stands? Do you think it's good enough? Have you not considered why Warnock very nearly walked?

Don't talk to me about being patient. I'm a Season Ticket holder and have been for long enough to know all about patience, thanks very much. There are many people, possibly including you for all I know, who gave up the ghost long since and decided to put no more money in Bates's pocket.

I've stuck with the club through thick and thin. All I'm saying is that in my opinion we should sell Snodgrass for the right fee. That's my opinion and I will stick by it. I think you may find that's what's going to happen anyway in the next day or two. No doubt then we will have all the proclamations of doom from many on here, but what else can the club do with no end in sight to the takeover and no sign of Snodgrass signing his deal?

Don't be so glib with your insults - you've no idea who you're talking to.

He who hesitates is lost.

Agree1 Disagree0

"you've no idea who you're talking to."

So if you have any sort of influence here then why don't you actually DO something about this situation, rather than moan at us because we moan at you?

The FACT (and this time it IS a FACT) is that we have no choice BUT to wait and see what happens, no matter what we would like/hope/want/expect to happen.

YOU are stuck in the same place we are - just bystanders with no actual power to influence anything...

... and by the way - you don't know who I am either, that doesn't make me any more important than anyone else on here, including you!

Agree0 Disagree1

"and no sign of Snodgrass signing his deal"

Actually Snodgrass was promised that if he remained at the club until xmas and Leeds weren't going anywhere, then Warnock would make sure he got transferred to a premier league club?

There were no preconditions about signing any deal or contract, and Snoddy is still here, ready to play, at least till xmas?

Snoddy has kept his side of the bargain, so why should we now sell him when he is prepared to play untill xmas as agreed?

If we sell him we've actually broken our agreement with him?

Agree0 Disagree1

Verbal agreements mean nothing mate. Snodgrass has no intention of staying. Warnock's been on Talksport this morning and he sounds resigned to losing him.

Is it me but this this uncertainty about a take over killing Leeds at the moment?

I am just as frustrated as every other LUFC fan at the moment with players leaving peanuts and the entire squad rumoured to be leaving. Warnock put a whole host of players on the transfer list at the end of last season and according to the official Leeds website, we have ;

3 GK - Kenny, Rachubka on the transfer list and 1 kid

8 DF - Durry, Pearce,Lees, Kisnorbo
Connolly, o'brian on the TL,, Bromby Injured, White set to leave

4 MF, Nunez on the TL

6 ST, Paynter on the TL, Somma Injured, Snodgress and McCormack set to leave

I think this clearly states that Leeds dont have much of a squad. Yes we are rumours with players but these are all just rumours.
If leeds want to get to the premiership they need to get this take over done now and bring in quality players as blackburn and bolton are doing.

Get this takeover sorted, The first game is in 24 days

Believable3 Unbelievable1

It will be hard to splash the cash as Blackburn and Bolton have, they are receiving parachute payments. Also we don't need to spend a load of money on quality players. All of our 'best' players which have moved on have come from nowhere... Gradel (Leicester Reserves) Beckford (Wealdstone) Snodgrass (Livingstone) B Johnson (Northampton i think) all spent very little money getting them in. There a gems everywhere in the lower leagues / abroad. Trust NW in his signings and keep the faith!

I know the Norweigan league isnt the best in the world, but after watching this video, i have high hopes for Rodolph Austin. Great technically, can spray a pass, no nonsense tackling, can chip in with a few goals also, decent finisher.

Come on let's be honest none of us here know anything about this guy if truth be told son I'm not gonna slate the player simply because I have never heard of him but I'm also not gonna start raving what a quality player he is on the merit of a YouTube video.
We seriously need to get a grip of ourselves he could be a superb signing for all I know but he could just as easily be a complete flop so I for one won't be saying anything about this guy until if he signs I've seen him play a few times then we'll all know how good he is rather than using a YouTube video to make comments.

Agree2 Disagree6

It's very easy to trot out the old "it's easy to look good on YouTube" line. You'd have a job to make Adam Clayton look that good, even in just a few clips!

Listen, the guy was Player of the Year in Norway. Warnock had him at QPR and would have signed him for them, having seen him at close quarters, if it hadn't been for the £2 million price tag.

That's good enough for me. The YouTube clips merely back up what Warnock already knows.

Apart from being a fantastic winner of the ball, he can take penalties, free-kicks, strike a ball from distance - he scored a cracking goal on Sunday. What more do you want? GET HIM IN.

Agree3 Disagree0

There must be some merit in the fact that Stoke wanted to sign him but couldnt due to work permit. and NW himself had him on trial at QPR but was too pricey. NW knows what he is doing and evryone knows he is one of the best managers at getting the most out of his players! If he come im sure he will do the business.
Id also like to know who would be the superstar signings that ppl want to see coming in, I just cant see and big names coming in my opinion its a waste of money how many big names are in the teams that got promoted this season? maybe a few in west ham but that scraped through playoffs!

I am risking a real slating here but here goes. I feel sorry for NW at the moment he is trying to rebuild a squad with his hands tied behind his back. In his press conference last week he said the takeover was nowhere near being completed.

I know thatmight be a smokescreen to stop clubs raising the price of our transfer targets, but if it's true what alternative does he have other than selling McCormack, Lonergan and Snodgrass? He needs money to buy players and to pay them.

Imo there are better players out there than Mac and Snoddy as well as they've done for us and I think they will have to be sacrificed like it or not.

Remember at the end of last season NW said he might have to make decisions that weren't popular with us fans eg selling our popular players.

all I can say is that we have the best manager for the job and we have to let him make whatever decisions are necessary to help him build the squad he wants. Hopefully NW will have money to spend in Jan next year. (What are your thoughts Ed0?

MOT Ron. {Ed013's Note - There are not many better than Neil at this level}

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate. You certainly don't deserve slating for what you've said.

If this takeover drags on even one more day, for me we should sell Snodgrass. He's very very overrated in my opinion anyway. We simply haven't got time to hang on any longer waiting for funds to materialise from the new owners, whoever they may be. Our first pre-season game is on Friday, Warnock wanted the vast majority of his signings completed by now but he's barely been able to scratch the surface. We can't afford to wait for the January transfer window, we'll be too far off the pace by then.

I have that horrible familiar sinking feeling at the moment. It looks as though we're going to lose Peltier to Huddersfailed (could you have imagined that scenario ten years ago?!?) and it wouldn't even surprise me if we lose out on Austin.

It also wouldn't surprise me if Warnock still ends up walking before the season starts.

This is a ridiculous state of affairs for a club like Leeds United - unfortunately under Bates it's one we're all too familiar with.

I'm sick of hearing the word "patience". We've all been patient enough.

This is not an 'In the know' rumour, this is my own thought on the matter re: Takeover.

I think this is being dragged out on purpose by both prospective buyer and current LUFC staff so that we can acquire our targets without the price inflating, I mean everyone in football and I mean everyone knows Ken Bates is as tight as they come with regards to funds/investment in the squad, while our prospective buyers would not want to be paying way over the odds for players we can get at maybe half the price, we saw it happen at City and now its happening at PSG, I'm hoping my thoughts are correct as this would save us a load of money, I believe the takeover will announced nearer transfer deadline day. Watched the highly touted video of "stone cold" Rodolph Austin and was very impressed, but was also impressed with one of his team mates who he seemingly links up well with. Diego Guastavino looks like a tricky little striker and in the Championship, unknown commodoties can win you games. On another note, i'm sick of hearing about the take over now, it'll happen if it happens and if it doesn't then it's not like we don't have a manager who can't get the best out of the players. That QPR team he took to the premier league were awful, but he managed to galvanise the lesser players into half decent individuals. If Snodgrass bid is anywhere near 4.5million then we should accept as that's a fair price for a player with 12 months on his contract. Also, 3.5million for Craig MacKail-Smith is fairly steep for the Championship, i'm not denying his talent, but i'm saying theres players out there worth alot less who are just as good. 2.5million for McCormack is such a fair price i'd snap someones hand off if they offered a million less, he's such a form player and not as consistant as his goal tally suggests but i certainly don't want Sylvain Ebanks Bonk (as Merson calls him) as he's even more unreliable. The signings made so far are good, strong and will do a job in the Championship, the signings to come look decent too, i just wish we'd take a look into the youth that did so well in the reserve league and youth leagues last season, why spend if your making them in your own academy? This was my first post on this site so i hope people go abit easy on me with their constructive criticism haha

i say sell snoddy i would like to see him stay but if we got around the £4m mark for him i say sell him, we can then push on a sign players that we need ie. austin, peltier who looks like going back to huddersfield.

one major problem for leeds is as a club we are too slow to get anything done. the sale of forrest took like 4 weeks max why is it taking us like 2 months already with nothing in place.

loners has gone looks like aidy white will follow, so easily we will have 5.5million to buy a new squad not to mention ross leaving too so ur looking at £7m plus and replacing him with michail smith is a no go 8 goals in 19 goals out ratio is poor dont u think.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I kind of agree but I dont think we can really use the forrest takeover as a comparison. The Owner died (r.i.p nothing against him) bit of a different situation as we have bates who will obviously making an astute business deal!

Its been suggested that Varney would be used as more of a winger than a striker. A RB is a must Peliter or Halford, Im not sure who is better but halford seems to be cheaper and has played in prem. Interesting little snippet about the takeover from the Yorkshire Post's report about the Terriers trying to hijack Peltier's move to Leeds.

Could this be true or just an error by the YP? Ed, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Possibly grasping at straws but maybe the media already know."That could potentially price Leeds out of a fresh offer with the club still awaiting transfer funds to be released following completion of their much-publicised takeover."

Forgive me if i'm wrong, i'm an IT engineer so this doesn't come up in my line of work, but if a company is being taken over would it not have to announce the takeover is complete before doing any deals with other companies. A lot of posts on here saying that the announcement that the takeover is complete won't happen till the transfer window is closed to fool other clubs so they sell there players at lower prices. I know some chairmen are daft (we have/had one, delete where appropriate) but if they see Leeds bidding for a player then they are going to bump the price up anyway, cos lets face it Leeds wanting to spend money must mean we have a different chairman as we have got frees and loans the previous years. MOT {Ed013's Note - Good Theory and I said this a while ago. The only problem with it is that Leeds fans put so much pressure on the club that they need to know something. To bring the fans back, some sort of announcement needs to be done}

Hey...

About this takeover... very mixed emotions on here people saying its done, people saying its dead.

When the due diligence statement was released.... Leeds stated they would not be making any more statements.

This could be an indication that maybe they will not confirm the takeover for some time.... maybe to do with transfers, maybe not.

They may leave it to the beginning of the season!

Theres bound to be a massive paper trail in these deals. Its not just the club which needs checking out by law firms, the buyers will do to, to make sure there not fakes!

Also theres all the FA checks which need to take place!

We all need to sit tight, ride out the storm and most importantly stick together, and get behind the team!

If this deal doesn't happen, then it will be a very sad day! but we will keep going at it!
