I'm all for giving ranger a crack a the first team, but you guys can't forget what he's done off the pitch

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would give jack the ripper a chance if he can do the job. We all have opinions however 'he who casts the first stone be without sin'!

MC is a fraudster but then again so are many of the hypocrites on here slating him. Same will be true about Ranger

To be fair when I compare the last few pre seasons to this with what we thought we might sign this has been the best one for a long time, we are not sure what we getting but got this feeling it's going to be good.

Ed, unlike many on here I go to the games week in, week out. Over the decades I have seen many a young player destroyed by the bile and vitriol that spews forth from the mouths of many so called fans that sit around me. A case in point is Aidey White who gets both barrels from the bloke behind me every time he sets foot on the pitch. Now don't get me wrong, he may actually be poor but I defy any young lad to put in his best shift with the hatred of my bespectacled fellow fan (who to be honest looks like he never kicked a ball in anger). Why do I bring this up now? Well I am concerned that we will start the new season with a bunch of new lads and reading the comments of the doom mongers on here ('Leeds Goths') I am concerned that these lads won't get the support they need. Just a thought.

{Ed013's Note - I had the same drama with a bloke down at Millwall when Aidy was breaking into the team. I confronted him and said to lay off his back, a young 16/17 year old that has been brought up through the ranks. What we all must remember though is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion}

Norman
Exactly what I've been saying in a roundabout way for the last 2 months.

Only part I disagree with in your post is the FIRST line, your only GUESSING most people on this site don't attend matches!
I attend every home match even though I'm working a long way away from ER and have done since I was 4 many moons ago lol
If a guy only attends 6 home matches he's still a Leeds fan, he's still one of us and deserves to comment on our team.
Nobody knows other peoples circumstances and financial situation, if EVERYONE had sheds load of money ER would be a sell out every week ;)

Norman, I have a ST in the East stand and sit near someone who does the exact same thing re: Aidy White. We may be writing about the same person or more likely there are a few people of the same opinion. It is absolutely wrong to abuse a player who pulls on the shirt, be it a 16 year old or even Jimmy Kebe. That been said I have found myself increasingly frustrated by Aidy White to the extent that I will mutter expletives under my breath which is why he will continue polarise the fan base. Aidy has never pinned down a position in the team and therefore his tag as a utility player has been to him both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because although a number of managers don't fancy him they keep him in the squad due to his versatility and a curse because he has become a jack of all trades master of none. 75 appearences in 6 seasons is not value for money (wage) which although he can't be blamed for not getting picked it also an indictment that he fails to impress. I suspect under Hockaday he will get the opportunity at left back to cement a place in the team however this really should be he last opportunity to realise the potential he has got.

Find the initial part of your post a little insulting! How do you know who attends games regularly and who doesn't! Whether a season ticket holder, a member who attends when they can or someone who lives in Australia and follows from afar then if they care enough to follow or post on here, no matter how miss guided or how much of a rant then maybe it's just them venting their spleen! The fact that they do it in public it shows they care and they clearly support! I don't agree with every post but hey - we are all entitled to an opinion! I can not go to Glenavon due to work commitments - does this mean I shouldn't post!?!

{Ed013's Note - I missed that bit, well said}

Sorry, first line was just a wind up. I honestly don't like young players being slated though. Give them all a chance.

Whilst the possible acquisition of Nile Ranger is not sitting too comfortably with me, a few Swindon guys down here saying he was sheer class on the pitch and far and away the best striker in lg 1 last season and he didn`t even have to try hard. Didn`t see much in him myself when he was at Newcastle.
What do people think from a playing point of view if you could" magic wand" him into a nice person :)?

I've just checked out Nile Ranger.

He's had 11 significant 'Incidents' in his short 7 year career. He sounds as if he just can't stay away from trouble, and Leeds have had enough of players like that in our time. Sense says stay away from him as leopards don't change their spots. Even the Messiah might not convert this one.

16 Jul 2014 22:00:48
Disagree. For a time albeit brief Diouf was quality for us and we had zero incidents with him on or off the pitch. In his past he was just as much trouble as Ranger. Ranger might have matured a bit and see this as a last chance saloon. Sometimes its all about who you are playing with. Maybe the Hock and Leeds are the answer.

Just been thinking about people saying that they are not happy with us signing mostly unknown foreigners.
Off the top of my head, I can think of a few in the past that had us scratching our heads and then became great players for us :
Lucas Radebe, Tony Yeboa, Jimmy Haselbaink, Alf Inge Harland and Eric Bake . These are just a few I thought of, no doubt there will be others that can think of more . Just saying lol MOT

The comparison is not quite the same, as all of those listed were full internationals (except Bakke) and came from the top division in their respective leagues (again I accept that Sogndal and Kaiser Chiefs were not world forces in football). Perhaps they could have been viewed as a gamble but definately a calculated gamble. I think the issue that some fans have is not that these players are unknown, after all would an Italian know who Tom Lees or Jason Pearce are, it is that recruitment has been slow and it is difficult to see where the leadership on the pitch will come from

Agree0 Disagree0

Notts

Although I agree the recruitement is slightly worrying at the moment, is it not best to bide our time rather than rush in and buy 5 persons as we've done in the past!

Just my thoughts mate ;)

Truth is we will not know how good they are till they have played a few games together, Bianchi is a good driving force in midfield and I reckon Doukara will be out on the wing as all his shots end up as crosses. Joking but he is a raw talent and needs some work. Just got the families kits from the shop, wifes got a training kit for the gym. can't believe they are not stocking the Thistle green and black top love that one and mine getting a bit worn.

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy, I agree however bringing together a number of players will take time to gel. It was the start last season that ultimately kept us up. Not saying that we will perform as poorly as last season but it is a concern

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy 100% agree
We can't really say we are slow at moment 4/5 in! but transfers do take time and if others are interested in player (which I hope they would be, else we are back to previous buys that were ''the rubbish'' that no one else wanted) it will be a battle of wits to get them if we loose we go to plan B .which in previous years we never had .so let's be patient and see what the don n hock show bring us

I know lads let's not get carried away MC says 2-3yr plan.
I think top half this season would be ok just to sort the new structure out ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree NottsWhite and I'm a little skeptical too, however it's a fresh start and as fans we'll get behind them. They will take a while to gel and we're going to have to give them a little time.

Notts, you are a better man than me if you had heard of any of the players mentioned . Its easy now to sit on wpidia or some web site and criticize players . Back then we couldn't do it, so these guys were unknowns to the vast majority of us .As for them being in the top leagues? you are having a laugh Sognal /Kaizer Chiefs WHO? Kaizer chiefs only became famous through Radebe and us lol It was just my way of pointing out that we don't know how these players will perform and just because they are not big names or cost millions doesn't make them bad players . We paid a fortune for some past players that were garbage IE Seth Johnson? Thomas Brolin ect MOT

Anyone else thinking we may be going to have another crack at the diamond 442?

* With been linked to no wingers

* We've been linked to endless central midfielders plus we've retained Norris and Tonge

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Definately, or a 4-3-3 formation

Agree0 Disagree0

I think 4-3-3 is more likely looking at the Leeds XI vs Leeds XI match squads the other night.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith up top with Doukara and Agard either side of him. Like the sound of that :) Midfield three of Viviani, Bianchi and Murphy

Hope your writing this down Massimo ;)

Very uncomfortable with trial for Nile Ranger. Leeds signed up to an ant-discrimination charter. A player sanctioned for homophobic comments. Too many second chances in my opinion and not at all keen to see him in a white shirt. I am all for the rehabilitation of offenders but there is no excuse for serial offensiveness. No.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What like Mr.Saurez? I don't agree with it, but morals seem to be parked if you can kick a football straight! MOT
