Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

I know Charlie Taylor is absolutely class, but it's pretty clear he isn't signing a new contract, would it be all bad if we accepted 7 million for him? After all we haven't exactly missed him the last couple of games, 7 million would be massive to us and could by 2 or 3 players ?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2017 23:33:40
3 teams have submitted a £7million opening offer. To accept that would be awful business sense. Firstly play it right you have a bidding war that could see the price easily rise to in excessive of £10million. Secondly do we really accept everyone's first offer? Whatever happened to negotiating to get a better deal? I don't know anyone that offers their max bid straight off. Surely if teams are willing to bid £7m they will stretch a little bit more for a quality youngster to beat off competition and secure an exciting prospect who could be an important England international. I personally wouldn't sell Charlie as 1) it would unsettle the team and 2) it would undermine Garry monks request to keep him. This would surely affect our form on the pitch and potentially cost us more than £7m. 3) There is still a slim chance he might sign an extension if it looks as though we could be promoted or actually are promoted.

I have it on good authority that Taylor is ready sign, he wants to stay. He just wants a fair offer.

I hope with monkey mans new contract his job title changes to reflect his standing! Obviously apart from the messiah! (please no naughty boy jokes)

Believable0 Unbelievable2

16 Jan 2017 20:33:23
Im sure Monk is not worried about his job title

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 20:52:34
I'm sure he isn't, but if he has a massive part in everything that goes on then surely he's more than just a head coach, as Massimo made it clear he has head coaches because they are just there to train the players and coach the games. I just think with him being the main instigator of us become a force again and being held in sure high regard by everyone just a simple change to manager would be respectful!

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Jan 2017 21:04:22
I think he should be known as The Abbot of Elland Road. After all that's what you call the chief Monk! 😏

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 21:50:17
I think your nitpicking with the title bit whether he's called head coach or manager who cares its like a binman or sanitation engineer just words

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 21:52:06
And the main instigator is the man who hired him and backed him

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 22:03:17
Is he wex? he also higher the hock, redfurn, Evans etc. Surely monk is the man who has brought it all together. I may be nitpicking, just thought it would be a nice touch.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 22:08:36
And to be honest wex, if he is doing more than "coaching" then yes he is a manager and should be paid and have the title. sure you'd feel the same if it was you

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 22:16:12
Evans did a good job for Leeds Redfern was already there when Cellino took over and Cellino was big enough to say I got it wrong and sack coaches like hock and was slammed for it it's disrespectful of Cellino to say Monk is the instigator of our turnaround in fortunes when it was Cellino who stopped selling our players for peanuts that gave us money to invest in players and let's worry about our progress rather than who gets called what. Has Monk stated he's not happy with his title or he'd rather be called manager gaffer boss or who cares your making an issue out of nowt.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Jan 2017 22:19:21
And in the words of another great leeds chairman first the club then the players then the fans then the chairman and at the bottom of the pile the manager

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Jan 2017 22:31:31
No he hasn't at all! i don't see what your issue is with this post! my point is purely he's clearly doing more than coaching, so it might be a nice touch from the club to monk, who let's face it has done an amazing job, by giving him the title he clearly deserves! That's all I was pointing out!

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 22:38:52
A show of appreciation, a thank you for the club to him if you will for how things have turned around. What harm would it do to change a word on a document

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 22:41:15
Maybe you could get a petition together or ask you local butcher to give Cellino a call my point is nobody seems to have a problem with Monks title and the only person who thinks he's being disrespected is you

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 22:54:57
So you'd begrudge him a change of title to Be more inline with what he's doing then?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 13:56:13
curahee, think your a little out of line here, how can monk have a change of title for what he is doing. sky sports will never call him the messiah and MC the saviour of yorkshire football.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 14:37:33
He's coaching the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 15:56:37
Yes wex he is, but he is also having more to do with player sales, purchases etc than the previous head coaches. on that reasoning wex then no clubs should have a manager and they should all be head coach. i'm sure Jose, fergi, Koop, pep etc would love that!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 16:06:04
True bermo, I didn't think of that! they may call him a naughty boy though! 🙄

16 Jan 2017 18:52:36
OK you rabble, for those that like a stat or two, here's one for you. In the form table over the last 10 games, we sit second with 22 points from 30 available, only one short of Brighton. The Geordies sit on 18 points, 4 behind us. All this is with 26 games gone and 20 left to play. So, if this form guide stays the same, we will gain 8 more points than the Bar Codes and pip them to automatic promotion. Yeah, it might not happen, but it is possible. Keep the faith boys and girls. Down the pints, up the whites! MM

Fantastic Mad 'Stato' Micheal or is it Mystic Mick? I get a feeling in my water that we may pip the maggies into 2nd or maybe it's that infection coming back! We've proved that we can cope with virtually any injury or suspension the footballing Gods can throw at us. How do you rate the game at the battle of the Bank tomorrow? Both to score again and Imps to win @ 5/1?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 13:51:14
the last 10 games will also include the loss to Newcastle, so if we beat them at St James' we will gain an additional 6 points there

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 14:55:06
Be interesting to see how Newcastle do the next few games without Gayle or Mitrovic, could cost them a lot of points very quickly if both are out injured for any length of time.

To BIGE and all the other yoof team experts. How far away is our latest professional Clarke Oduor from the first team? What type of midfielder is he? And also, with a name like that he's got to be Sniffer's love child, hasn't he?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2017 21:09:02
Decent prospect, played in different midfield roles but he's best on his left foot. Likes to get stuck in and has a good engine. Like a lot of young ones he needs beef up a bit. Dawson was one of the most talented lads we had but size wise he was never going to make it in our leagues yet. Think he would be better playing abroad at the moment. Odour i think can step up but think 2018 will be soon enough. Competetive enough and has skill but a bit lightweight at minute.

Brighton showing an interest in Robbie Keane. anyone else agree he may still have something to offer us as an impact player?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

16 Jan 2017 19:42:20
He'd surely be good to have around the place. Always works hard and would definitely nick a few goals too. Would depend on what money he wants (that's if Monk wants him)

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 15:02:16
Keane still scores for fun but might struggle with the physical nature of the Champ these days. As you say Curahee, he could be a good option as an impact sub coming on in the last 10 to knick a goal like Kevin Philips did in his later years. If the wage isn't stupid a contract till the summer with the option of a further year could be an astute bit of business.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 14:10:48
Kick off for the Brighton game has been moved to 5:30 for Sky (same day) . If we keep 11 on the pitch and the ref doesn't award 2 dodgy penalties we can take 'em right easy.

Birmingham moved to the Friday night for TV as well, on TV more than Emmerdale 😀

16 Jan 2017 17:25:35
honestly think we can beat anyone in our division if we play decent and have a bit of luck. brighton are very good as are newcastle but then so are we, if we can do villa, reading and derby no reason why we can't win agiinst anyone in championship. i think we will hit a blip all teams do but then i also think we have good chance of stealing 2nd place and missing the dreaded playoffs

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 17:59:57
Yep as a team we have the desire for a fight from the coach down to the squad of players where as good as any in this league like you say we will have set backs but so will everyone else, keep the faith MOT.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 18:29:40
Play like we did last Friday and we will beat anyone. Of course we won't always play like that so we won't always win. Do I get the prize for stating the bl**ding obvious ?

16 Jan 2017 18:59:16
Said it last week fancy us to get at least 12 points from next 5 games

Oh and Al, we heard you the first time! 😀

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 20:03:52
hopefully our blip was at the start and if that is so we could even win the championship, i think we are picking up points when not playing well also which is great but of course for us to keep up current form means not losing and hardly drawing i am not sure that will happen.

although we looked amazing during the game on Friday, one of the things i found most pleasing was the way that the players reacted after the game ended. You can see real togetherness and unity in the way they are around each other and everyone was celebrating the victory with everyone else. one of the keys to a successful campaign is team spirit and it looks like we have it in spades at the moment.

Not Leeds related, so forgive me, but please can someone with more know how than I explain how these Chinese clubs are able to afford these fees and wages when taking into account the fair play rules! Do they not apply to China?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2017 12:17:48
pretty sure fair play don't affect chinese, they work to their own rules bit like with everything else. football is pretty much becoming the biggest thing there and businessmen have a lot of wealth as does the company so they want to make it is richest (therefor best league) i don't think they ralise things don't work like that

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 13:03:46
Just thought FIFA rules applied to everyone, and surely no Chinese club will have an income through gate receipts, sponsorship, player sales etc big enough to off set paying on player £30m a season and a £80m transfer. Hmmm FIFA, at it again? !

{Ed002's Note - What FIFA rules are you talking about?}

pretty sure F.F.P only applies to english clubs and is an F.A rule, there is also a similar one for european clubs that applies to all teams who qualify to play in European club tourlements which is similar but the boundraies are slightly different, I am not certain on this but pretty sure this is correct. China will be a leauge and law to themselves but can't see any proper players going there in peak as money is great but league is a bit of a joke, i'd rather earn 30 million a year in europe than 80 million in mickey mouse league personally.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 16:52:03
Bermo to be fair to costa he's only on £4m after tax in England (I know I said only) but when you compare that to the £30m tax free he'd get there I'd learn to love rice, noodles and imitation watches!

And we send overseas aid to Chinese football development! Let em go for the cash. We can cope without them.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 17:31:50
i honestly wouldn't I understand big pay day when 32-36 fair enough but i would want to play at the top of my game, compete and win things. enough money is enough, like tom hanks said you can only be so rich then you do it for the love of the project.

I think it is greedy and not needed, i understand players like taylor and cook leaving for money because it is also to test yourself in better league but no professional should ever take a step backwards unless it is for a life changing amount and when that rich i am not sure it is life changing

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 17:57:10
