Sabella would be great however he shouldn't get too much praise for his work with Argentina, when you have people like Messi at your disposal the final should be expected

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry Surrey
Really silly comment, 1 player don't make a team my friend.
Portugal had Ronaldo should they be playing Argentina in the final!

Agree0 Disagree0

He said people 'like' Messi. I'd say he meant top players in the side, like Messi, DiMaria, Aguero etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronaldo is the only star player in the Portugal side

Argentina have Messi, Aguero, Lavezzi and Di Maria for starters .

And we had Rooney and came home early enough said

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe that anyone could be unhappy if MC gives the job to Sabella - like someone said that will be a real statement of intent. And compared to some names banded about, I'll be delighted. No guarantee of success of course, but that's true with anyone - but slagging Sabella off when we've just got rid of the Hock is just plain bonkers imo

Agree0 Disagree0

Cork
Di Maria, Aguero are NOTHING like messi, 3 brilliant but totally differnt players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't start about Rooney. Shows hoe hype and money damage the England set up. Not only does he keep his place he gets the captain's job. Here's me thinking you had to be able to speak to get that job. Hodgson as head coach? He hasn't made silk purses out of sow's ears yet but he is trying. First he has to try making a sow's ear out of Rooney - tough job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Zabaletta and Mascherano are two of the best players in their positions in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy mot
How are Di Maria and Aguero NOTHING like Messi?
They are attacking players.
They are great at going past defenders.
They are all Argentinian.
They all get paid shed loads.
So, I suppose you going to tell me how they are all totally different and the obvious being Messi is the best player in the world!
MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not bashing Sabella, he's a lot better than anything we've had in a long time I'm just saying you've got to look on the standard of players he was working with, let's look back to his work with Estudiantes for a more realistic insight on what he would bring

Agree0 Disagree0

CORK
When have you seen Messi up front with his back to the play and holding the ball up as a striker?
(Agueros position)
NEVER he won't be half as affective as he is now. He needs to be running at players from an attacking midfield role to be affective with his quick feet and amazing skills.
Argentinian of course they are I'm sure they have to be to play for Argentina and what money has to do with it is beyond me mate!
Straws & clutching comes to mind MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy mate what are you talking about?
Aguero is not a hold up forward, he likes to play off the shoulder and get in behind. Not saying he can't hold the ball up just he is better facing towards goal. Same as Messi and Di Maria. All 3 players like to take on defenders. don't tell me Messi can't hold up the ball either. With his touch and strength, I have seen him do it many times and then either lay it off or turn his marker.
Stick that straw in your hat!

Alex Sabella would be great just what we require! But still no one mentioning ROBERTO DI MATEO anyone agree been out of work since 2012 would have great contacts anyone agree??

{Ed013's Note - Sabella is now the favourite Wingy, but I don't even think Mr Cellino knows 100% who he wants}

I think Alex Sabella shares the same sentiments/nostalgia as Gary Mac with us but I don't know much about his managerial qualities.
Whilst Roberto Di Matteo seems an attractive option, we have to question why he has been out of work since 2012.
Dunno who would be the best choice but whoever it is I hope Redders has some influence on first team matters.

I can see RDM managing us down the road. Time not right for him just yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi ed I'm pretty sure you spot on! Do you know if he has anyone briefing him on coaches or is it just his own knowledge that he's using,?.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - He has advisor's, but not in the capacity we would expect. I still believe that he should employ a right hand man that knows the Club inside out and offer advice from a fans point of view. Someone Like Eddie Gray would suit in my opinion, but for now Redders is our voice of reason}

Wingy
Glad to see your back.
I heard a rumour but it's ONLY a rumour but I'm NOT saying anything as my contact upset a couple of people on ere last week with his info so I said I wouldn't post it anymore ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Andy sorry to hear that I'm always on here reading bud, but starting New business and it takes all my brain cells up ( and before any1 adds it I will, all 2 of them)! I keep seeing some silly quips but missed the start of THE SOURCE I think you have a few maybe jealous readers who don't believe you know anyone? If you do or don't that's only you who can say 100% but in all honesty THIS IS A BLOODY RUMOUR /GOSSIP SITE IS IT NOT? Too many have left us over last year as they get discredited and feel they have to be ON THE TELLY to have a voice . rant over ps keep it up Andy I enjoy your txts like to hear M.Mick a bit more . Miss the fashion snippets lately. Ed 13 and all others good work you all do and thankless at times but thanks from us all

No worries Wingy good luck with your new venture ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha ed I was being generous to my self I just thought of a number and doubled it lol
Great result lads not able to watch game but reading it online seems both sides had lots of shots nearly 40 shots between them was MIT a game where we matched their ball play as they do move ball around well, was free kick any good? Give us mere mortals some game info player marks maybe would give us who didn't see game . How about using that as a feature after our games ed13 i.e. game overview and player ratings maybe and goal description ie dribble, lucky bobble or 30 yard net breaker how about it ED 13? Anyone else interested?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - Things are being worked on in the background. I always do the man of the match poll after each game. Ratings is a little trickier. For now everyone can submit them on the teams page and discuss whether everyone agrees etc}

That'll do for me nicely ed
I will take more notice of that feature from now cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers for that Andy, going to be a hard work next 6 months bud by spring should have it sorted and more footy time on me hands to see the boys on our final promo push . hopefully . Just seen goals .class pure class was I watching LEEDS? ye ha viva la revolution good times are a rolling

Sabella had class just playing at the wrong time with us, team was pretty dire back then. And players did not get the protection they do now, bit of a culture shock for him. I been at elland road since 64 and seen some top players come through our club, some made it others did not but it does not mean they are bad players.

Cant remember much about him in the eigthties can anyone shed light on his career with us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He was really skillfull but not really upto the pace of the English game. I used to joke he had just 2 speeds slow & stop.

Average player but its those sort of players who can make terrific managers and coaches. His run at World Cup proves this. I'd welcome him with open arms and I think with Cellino and the new setup he represents the "perfect fit". Wonder what his salary would be. Imagining that 100k a year he paid Mr Nobody would have to be tripled. In time, we might end up with some top Argies!

Samba with Sabella was the slogan when he first signed.

I love how the media and bookies jump onto sacking/ parting of ways or anything in MC comments to bring forward a new "front runner".

This weeks comment to "develop" is
"I'm thinking about a foreign coach, an international coach who I can work with. We need to meet and talk but I think he could be good for us"
Hence the ex Argitinian coach and "parting of way" throwing James Beattie into the mixer. I am finding it very enjoyable, seeing as Redfearn is doing a fine job in the interim.

One thing I am really happy about is MC confirming Redfearn will not be the permanent coach due to the work he does with the youth academy. However I do feel that his tenure will be extended if a good run gets put together so the timing of the appointment may be flexible. Imagine if we won the next 10 games, it would be hard for him to replace him. So realistically I think the new manager will take over when we have a drop in form.

I think the new coach will be here within the week after MC said Redders won't get it.

Reading MC's comments about the new head coach ''I’m thinking about a foreign coach, an international coach who I can work with. We need to meet and talk but I think he could be good for
us''. hmmmm. foreign and international, a foreigner whose managed internationally, there's only one in the current betting that fits that profile and that's Carlos Quieroz.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

See this was MC's plan all along and I called it months back. He always wanted a foreign coach but if come in at first and didn't work we might of got on his back and many would of said. we want an english coach who knows this league. so he went english as poor as he could to make it bad for very few games and then bring in his proper guy and things improve and MC is a hero. I love mc and think he is a very clever man. I personally look forward to the man MC really wants and think he will do well as I think MC knows what he is doing MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

MC has missed a trick here, I really can't understand why it has taken him two weeks to say Redders isn't the right man to be coach & he needed in the academy. Who in their right mind would want to coach a team when the owner keeps changing his mind when he said in Wednesday's YEP that he hadn't seen a better candidate for the coach's job than Redders

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but disagree shagtastic. if mc said redders not for job would that affect the players. maybe so? so MC keeps cards close to chest. MC has praised Redders rightly so also said nice things are redders will probably go back to his rightful job. MC has been respectful to redders, let the players think redders might be the boss to get best out of players and even ruled him out making players have one last go for redders on tuesday before maybe bringing in the right man. also MC has been clever leaving door open for redders to take reigns again if new boss goes which is always likely with mc's record

Agree0 Disagree0

He said an International coach, this could mean one who has managed in more than one country rather than one who has managed a national team. I can't see it being Sabella personally.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermondsey don"t you think it would have been better to get a coach in ASAP so he could have worked with the players during the international break? we need a coach that can take us to the next level & I am afraid it is because of the uncertainty around MC keeping coaches on long enough for them to make a difference that the coaches that can do that will not join our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree it would of been better to get a coach in before the international break and always best to make appointment asap. not sure of reasons why appointment has not been made quickly but I do feel we have been in good hands in mean time with redders, maybe mc wants to get this right.

Also think the coaches won't come theroy is could not be more wrong and here is why
1. he has signed 32 coaches if it was a problem the coaches would of stopped coming after say 20 at most
2. it is part of job now days and expected
3. it is a great job people in football want to work and be in work because they love football it is not road sweeping
4. getting sacked is no longer a fear as it doesn't affect you getting next job look at steve mcclaren and roy hodgson as two examples of 100's
5. no one wants to be unemployed
6. people have confidence in themselves and think they will make it work
7. stay in job or get sacked win/win due to massive payoff becoming a football manager is almost a none risk job

do not think any manger/coach will not take job other than, not looking for work or have a better offer in pipeline. anyone at our level will manager a club at our level whoever runs the club. in this I have full faith and think bit silly to suggest otherwise

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Bermondsey your reasoning doesn't add up, you are right people take a job to make the difference the problem is MC's track record proves he doesn't give coaches long enough. To turn your logic on its head has it occurred to you what he could of achieved at Cagliari had he given coaches a bit more time?

Redders out the running for head coach. Per MC. For the best my opinion. We need someone more tactical but what is clear is that he has the respect of everyone connected with the club. Probably the best caretaker anyone could wish for. Let Redders do what he does best. Nurturing the academy. We are getting closer to where we need to be. MOT.
