so white and pugh works, connolly brings out the best in snoddy, keogh and mccormack are a gr8 partnership, lees and odea seem to work well, lonergan is class, hopefully clayton and howson will start working....probably need a few decent cover signing but i think a championship winning team is here....PREMIERSHIP HERE WE COME!! keep it up SG!! MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Clayton and howson linking well together, plus they are still young! Could be a great partnership for the future...... Sort it out bates, these boys are the future of our club ! Sign them up to long term contracts.....

Agree2 Disagree1

This is the same Paul Connolly that some people said should never wear a Leeds shirt again. Started the last 2 games, 2 clean sheets. Solid defender and working well with the others around him. M.O.T. Mon the Leeds!!

Agree4 Disagree1

Your only as good as your fellow defenders and keeper. It's a team game.

Agree2 Disagree0

I think Leeds players are now starting to realise it's a TEAM game, and are playing as one......

Agree0 Disagree0

Connolly does generally make too many mistakes although hes doing pretty well this time....but he brings out the best snoddy and that for me is most important......would like to see lichaj back in the near future tho

Where have all the "Grayson out" idiots gone?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

They'll be back once we have a dip in form again or get a few injuries

Agree1 Disagree1

The jury is still out on SG as far as I am concerned? It's taken 2 years to make any advance on the defence. I hope he gets it sorted and turns out to be the best premiership manager ever. I for one am pleased at what is progress but let's not get too carried away here. Firstly, Leeds have had a lucky run when you breakdown every match - the last 2 have been cleansheets which is a step in the right direction - But just look at the oposition - it was clear to see that Doncaster were desperately poor. There appears to be a winning habbit though so come on Leeds keep it up!

Agree4 Disagree2

Jury out? Promotion with Blackpool. Promotion with Leeds in first full season. 7th with no investment in first Championships season. Grayson's record speaks for itself at this level of football. Maybe you did better on your computer game?

Are you a complete person or what? Please, in your infinite wisdom, tell us realistically who could have done better with the resources to hand and who actually would work for Bates and come to a second division club with no money to splash out.

Leeds have been UNLUCKY overall this season. We outplayed Boro until the ref ruined the game (you probably weren't there judging by your comments), we outplayed West Ham and Ipswich but had similar refereeing experiences. Only against Southampton were we shambolic (and the second half at Brighton was dodgy) but they're both very good teams. We had a bit of luck against Palace. Luck tends to even itself out over the course of a season so we're still due some.

7th, game in hand and we've played most of the teams above us. We're still overachieving given our level of resources because we have the RIGHT MANAGER. Anything better than mid-table is more than Bates's investment merits.

Agree4 Disagree5

It's pointless getting personal simply because my opinion differs to yours. It's no great secret that the recent run of winning results could have gone either way and yes I have only missed 2 of this years games so I can make an informed opinion without playing computer games. I agree that SG has limited resources. I simply point out that of all the loan signings and purchases the defence has been one of the worst in the division(which yes isn't helped by lack of resources). I would also like to point out that the majority of the teams in the division have just as if not more limiting resources and can still achieve! My hope is that a corner has been turned and that SG kicks on from here?! I can admire your loyalty - but as a lifetime Leeds fan through thin and thinner I keep my feet firmly on the ground and base my opinion on what I see - accepting that others may see something different.

Agree4 Disagree0

Have to agree with the last post, I too hope we have turned the corner, but am seriously happy with where we are now compared to last week, at the same time.

You have to admit the defence is getting better, two clean sheets prove this. Even Grayson cannot perform miracles, and we are all here (hopefully) for the long run.

I still think there may be some politics about getting promoted this season, with regards previous debts, but from what I am watching, we are now in a position to go for it!!!!

Agree1 Disagree0

You're right about being personal - uncalled for - sorry!

My point was about Grayson not loyalty. He has performed supremely well with what he has had to work with. Yes, the defence has been poor, but with no real money to pay wages or buy players, he is limited in his options. If you can't afford to buy players and are restricted to the loan market you are always going to struggle to get the players you really want since you're essentially choosing between players who, for the most part, are unwanted at their own clubs. Sometimes you get a talented youngster from a top premiership club or a good player from a club desperate to get its wage bill down a bit but those are the exceptions. Generally you're looking at players in the twilight of their careers or journeymen.

I think there are a lot of people posting anti-Grayson sentiments on here who are confusing the Leeds United of 2011 with the Revie team of my youth (I've been going since February 1970), the Wilko team or the O'Leary/Ridsdale years. Some of the postings (sack Grayson get O'Neill, O'Leary or Ancelotti was one) seem to be delusional. History and passion count for nothing in the world of professional football. These people are professionals, not fans. They are doing a job of work and the manager's job at Leeds is, relatively speaking, a pretty unappealing job. That may be hard for fans to stomach, but that's how it is.

I may have been a bit unnecessarily rude in my original posting but your reply has failed to answer the critical question. If we dropped Grayson, who would come to Leeds in the club's current state, with its current budget, who would do a better job.

I think you would be very lucky to find a better manager than Grayson willing to come to Leeds right now and I'd be interested to see some realistic suggestions of potentially willing managers with a better track record.

Fella, how did Friend play last night? Just remember the rumours about SG looking at him in the summer, and I am wondering what kind of shift he put in last night, i.e. was he looking to impress someone?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

No better than white to be honest, white had a good game... Too much pace at times, everyone else has to catch up with him or else he ends up running backwards, quite funny to be honest lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Friend gave away the free kick....

well said Ed! {Ed001's Note - thank you, I think, I am guessing you are referring to the gossip surrounding Grayson? I don't get why people feel the need to discuss it, it is clearly not affecting the team!}

Our starting XI is fantastic at the moment though I'm concerned about what will happen should certain players get injured, e.g Clayton, we'd have to play Brown, oh dear..

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Not too worried myself, reckon Vayrynen is good enough. With Becchio, Forssell got two quality forwards, and Nunez didn't even make squad last night! Things looking rosy.......at the moment! MOT

Agree4 Disagree0

We have some half decent back up players now, rather than mediocre players with no real backup.

Must admit, Billy the painter needs to go, he has proved nothing at Leeds.

Ps. Anyone who was championing Doncaster's Sharp, pre-season, should be seriously asking themselves why, he did absolutely nothing last night??

Agree1 Disagree0

My only concern is if one of our full backs get injured, it would mean Parker or Bromby coming in

Agree0 Disagree0

Sharp did nothing because our defence stopped him

Agree0 Disagree0

"Sharp did nothing because our defence stopped him"

Just once its nice to see a positive comment on our defence..........
