As much as i would love my childhood hero Alan Smith to re join i believe that he wont. Bates came out and said he was interested in him a month ago, Bates nor Grayson EVER come out and speak about their transfers so this tells me its all to cover up other transfers, and it worked. The Brown deal was practically complete before ANYONE found out about the deal. The fact that no one knows our targets is clever so we have no compitition for their signing :)

Hope Smith does join but i very much doubt it now

Believable5 Unbelievable5

I should not worry about other clubs wanting the players we are chasing dont know if it except your notes but were only after players other clubs dont want. Its so we dont know who there after

we had this fear with becchio last year and he signed a new contract i have faith in gradel to sign a new contract as he has previously stated he wished to

Right, I have been as guilty as the next
man slaggin off, making speculation and putting two & two together, but It's just a case of waiting for the season to start. If we have a poor start then the people having a go at the hierarchy will be justified, if S G has a storming start, then he will be a tactical genius. I'm a life long fan and support LEEDS UTD through thick and thin and have decided to reserve judgement, I think some of the pessimists should do the same. {Ed032's Note - i agree - there are lots of good players out there on a free. give grayson time - survival was our aim last season and now we expect to be champions. its a tough league

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Grayson has as much chance of being labeled a tactical genius as you have of winning a literary prize; none

Ticket prices are out for next season and to attend just 10 home games its going to cost an adult some where in the region between £270- £350 depending which stand you are in, add on all the hike on food and beer etc its going to be a dear season. personally i dont mind paying to see my beloved team, but i would like value for money, therefore i would expect some decent signings to ignite the team and fans after all we pay are money and are there to be entertained/see our team win, at present i dont think we are getting value for money as far as signings go, so come on Bates you have took our membership money, season ticket money, and expect us to dig deep next season, so get your check book out and give us a team that the fans deserve.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Buy a Season Ticket mate, it works out a lot cheaper per game.

Agree4 Disagree2

Can afford one of them , but my work pattern doesn't suit, went to 30 games last season mixed home and away , just want value for money for when I go, feel a bit let down with present signings .

Agree2 Disagree1

Keep the faith mate

Also can sympathise with work pattern getting in the way, it can make life very difficult.

Leeds 2 sign a new forward either buy or loan as somma is goin 2 b out for 5-6 months.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Horrible news. but this shows how sht the leeds website is. still haven't reported it. shame on Grayson for not saying anything to fans too.

Agree2 Disagree6

Idiot What is there to say yet? The club's probably just waiting to see how serious the injury is before making an announcement. Plus, if other clubs know we're suddenly a bit desperate for a striker, up goes the fee for any prospective transfer so perhaps we're even deliberately trying to keep it low key.

Come on, think about it before you moan and whine.

Agree5 Disagree2

Totally agree with the above. Also Somma has removed the tweet, probably at the request of the club due to the above. Just another excuse for some of the moaners to have a go at the club ffs.

Agree3 Disagree1

I can't see how removing team - supporter transparency benefits the club. Leeds fans now do not know: the full ownership and financial situation of the club, who will be playing for them next season, and the status of players injury status. (Becchio still has this mystery injury with no set return date).

Agree0 Disagree2

Ken Bates owns the club (been common knowledge for a while now); only very few people know the exact financial situation of ANY club; no-one knows for sure what the team's going to be next season as negotiations are still going on and there are still three weeks before the season starts; finally, players' injury status is the business of the club - there is no point alerting competitors if you are suddenly very short in a certain area of the squad.

I think for you to be happy you need either to buy the club yourself or become Mystic Meg

hopefully leeds can bring billy sharp in. In exchange for paynter and cash. I do believe our billy shud get a chance bt i rate sharp much betta so a swap deal wud work out. Paynter is a quality player bt his injuries have affected him, so a smaller club mite be beta 4 him than a club pushing 4 top 2. Front 3 of becchio, sharp and mccormak wud be amazing

From the Newcastle ed;

Ed042's Note - The Smith deal with Leeds is a complicated one, could happen and then could not, he would like a move back because he would be guaranteed first team football, which there is no chance of at the toon, he loves Leeds but is worried he is not wanted there by the fans, but I think is waiting for the friendly against them to see what the reception he gets is like, and finally the wages are a definite issue, negotiations have been ongoing to find a way to make this happen, and because Leeds are a Championship side, and could be for a season or two more, they cant afford to be paying someone big money, simple as, but the reason Newcastle want rid of Smith is to get his wages off the books altogether, ideal scenario, but are willing to pay a percentage for the first year, just think at the moment the percentage Leeds want us to is too much and that is the main thing that has stopped the move happening, so that it in a nutshell, may happen, both parties and Smith hope it will, but theres more to it than a simple transfer

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Firstly, who says hes guaranteed a first team place, secondly its not just his wages thats a problen for Newcastle its his performances, and lastly, do you really think he gives a rats arse what Leeds fans think, Smith would not be a good signing, no other team has moved for him, shows his current standing in the world of football, steer clear.

Agree8 Disagree3

I feel that Smith ultimately does want to come back but does not want to split our fans, and it is only he who will be able to judge the situation?

Given the fact that Bates and Grayson have obviously both consented to the possibility of this happening, I feel that we should encourage the deal that could happen? Despite all the crap on here, Smith IS Leeds though and through, . and I feel sorry that the guy was kicked into the scum syndrome because of a certain cnut called risdale.

And you are all slating Bates....??

Grow up, get real, and look forwards, if Smith comes back it can only incite a belief in the great players we already have, , , , ,

Agree3 Disagree7

Smith is ancient history, leave him there where he belongs.

Just a thought Ed, this doesn't require posting or anything. Is it really necessary to post a dozen or so comments saying exactly the same thing - i.e. the Clingen thing? {Ed046's Note - it is not, if i recieve a two posts i delete one and upload the other, but i dont know which ed you are talking about

what is the quoted fee for Max? i highly doubt they'll let him go for any less than 8 mil. also, McCormack can play in his position, so there may be more meat in the rumours than first thought.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

As much as i'd like that we'd never get that amount for a player with one year left.

you're only saying that because he went to man u but he only went because they were the only team who could afford to pay all upfront.

Hopefully this seasons loan signings will be of a good standard, the likes of Danny Pacheco & Henri Lansbury would be ideal.Only Eric Lichaj made any impact last season so would be good to get him back, Sammy Clingan would be decent in the center.Heard its likely we'll get Stockdale & possibly Eremenko(do you know anything about him ED)?Heard they want about £3m for Billy Sharp so cant see that happening Would like Danny Gabbidon but hopefully Bates will spend something, dont need to just keep looking at freebies anymore

If Graysons buying Billy Sharp, which striker is leaving ?
Has to be Paynter in a exchange

Becchio no way
Somma goal a game
McCormack played well at the end of the season
Looks like Graysons going for 2 upfront this season

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Gradel, with McCormack coming in on the wing.

Agree0 Disagree2

Somma's injured so we need another striker (and we need to get rid of Paynter anyway), but hopefully we won't sign Sharp.

15 Jul 2011 13:59:47
I for one agree, we should be giving them 5 year deals, this would also increase their value as we would not feel the need to sell i.e Kasper if Kasper had a longer contract and SG still wanted to let him go, we could have got 3-4m for him may be more the silly money they are paying players.
--------------------------------------------------

Simon Grayson saying it's time for nunez to shine personally I think this is his cover up of Gradel going What is going on at leeds united silly 2 year contract's for all our best player's why ? I think gradel will go and Quinn and montgomery will be leeds player's this coming season Bate's OUT

Believable1 Unbelievable4

The reason a club like us dont offer a 5 year contract is because we are not in prem, you can't be sure we will be at this level untill we are established in prem league, do any teams other than top 5 or 6 give contracts that long? No and this is why, Bates does money sense, his name is not risdale

Agree3 Disagree2

15 Jul 2011 13:55:34
Personally if Smith came back ok i wouldnt mind that i go for players because they can play football ot because of who they have played for in the past, But i would like to see Leeds sign someone else and wouldnt be on here 24/7 slagging smith off

Believable1 Unbelievable4

15 Jul 2011 13:53:18
I agree, but leeds must include sell on's at least 20% of future fee

----------------------------------------
If gradel decide to go to lille and we got decent money i for one would not disagree with his decision as he would be playing at the highest level in the champions league, we may be back ther one day but that wouldnt be yet and its a great opportunity for the lad. on the other hand if he signed a new contrat i would be over the moon

deakko

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Well said both of u, yeah would prefer him to stay.
The beckford final year was good and he got us up, i guess it's the gamble on max having an awesome season for us and getting us up or cashing in now.
Great player but we're not a one man team, agree 100% that a sell on clause is needed.

Whatever happens it won't be as bad as selling cantona to the scum for 1.4 and buying lee sharpe for 4.5
We're leeds and we'll go forward.

15 Jul 2011 13:51:14
hate to say it guys but gradel is overrated, yes he had a good season but does anyone else get the feeling that everything he does is pure luck?

Believable0 Unbelievable7

18 GOALS are hardly 'pure luck' idiot

Agree6 Disagree0

Only criticism i have of him is how many of his shots fly into the stand. other than that he's a quality wing forward.

Agree0 Disagree2

Yes because most players have pure luck for a whole season. Get a life and judge players on real life not what there like on football manager you person
Joe MOT

There you have it in a nutshell, Gradel 18 goals in a season, Smith 7 goals in 43 games, work it out for yourselves, enough of this Smith crap.

linked again with billy sharp, not bad signing, done well at doncaster - step up to bigger club? Did poor at sheffield n not that big a club. rather buy decent defenders n centre mids with 4 players grayson can have. Perfect 4 for me = Lichaj, kilgallon, eustace n already got brown so have to be him, waste cos too old rather cheaper option if possible of delph on loan

Alan Smiths rumoured return to Leeds appears very unlikely with him not willing to take any kind of pay cut on his 55k weekly wage.

According to the Yorkshire post it doesn't look likely that Alan Smith will be coming home, so who are we having to fill the gaps left, i'm sure Brown will do a good job but has he got 40 games in him, hopefully Nunez will shine in midfield but he is more of an attacking midfielder, for me its the keeper and getting the right pairing of centre backs and a holding midfielder that will be the main problem for the season, So come on Simon get some fresh faces in and get it sorted ASAP so we are ready for the the new season.(forgot to mention need to keep MAX, )

Allan Smith NEVER kissed the Man Utd badge Some person has got confused with Wayne Rooney (how anyone can do that, God only knows )

Smithy's blood is yellow and blue - there was a mild red blood transfusion once caused by internal haemmoriging at LUFC - come back Alan - teach the squad what it means to be Leeds

YEP say Leeds no closer to bringing Smudger back to ER as he is unwilling to take a pay cut. Well Smithy if your claim that you are a Leeds Utd fan(always have been always will be apparently) is true after moving across the pennines to the SCUM and all the money you have earned how about showing us how much we mean to you take the wage cut and maybe we will accept you with open arms. so lets see if your true colours really are WHITE or is it just about the colour of Money ???

Cmon Smithy lets see what LEEDS REALLY MEANS TO YOU

Believable7 Unbelievable2

15 Jul 2011 09:14:33
I've been going to ER for over 15 years now. And no did not go to Falkirk, I would have loved to be there but i run a small business. thats reallity, so fans that don't go every week are no less a fan than those that go week in week out.
With regards to singing Smith or any other players, i'm a Leeds United football Club fan, not plays fan, players come and go.
I would like to see Smith back, fans are fickle if smith returned and banged in some goals had a good season and helped us get promotion all would be forgoten and he would be a hero again.

I think,
AS the person did not want to join them.
AS the footballer did, we wanted to win silverwere leeds could no longer offer that.

At lease he would give 100% every game and thats what i pay my money for

We are Leeds, MOT
-----------------------------------------
A few hundred actually but at least we were there on a wed night, if smith comes he will divide the fans and the players he's not worth it we need to stick together. just cast your mind back smith saying he would never go to man utd then months later kissing the scums badge thats to much to takr didn't take him long to get over it but hey most of the ones who want him back at least you won't have to see him in the shirt that often cos you never go oh forgot some of you work part time.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Smith didnt kiss the badge you fool

Agree2 Disagree4

In response to the guy who said"if Smith came back and banged some goals in", what planet do you live on?been reported on here of his scoring record over his last 43 games as 7 goals, only a numpty would want to pay massive wages for this sort of return, keep it real.
