I agree bermondsey, I strongly believe we have a chance of the play offs this year because I believe we now have a squad that's strong in depth the only thing that will take a bit of time is for them all to bond and gel but the signs are good already the passing albeit a bit rugged and astray sometimes was impressive! and it will only get better Massimo is being cautious on the next Coach but hey redders is capable so no mega rush eh folks! there's no big egos they all seem to be pulling together I really believe we could be the dark horses for the play offs this year! but hey what do I know I have only followed my beloved Leeds since 1973 lol see ya all at bournemouth regards dj

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wow fan since 1973 you need to have the hope. I have been since 89 and in that time learnt to hope and dream, however I do think this year or next we could be realistics threats to this league. I personally don't care what league we are in and loved our time in league 1 (of course prefer us in the prem) but as long as we are doing well and playing good football and palying with pride and doing the shirt and fans proud I am happy. good times ahead MOT

If he's good enough to take Joe harts place in the team he'll be good enough to play for Italy once buffon retires

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would our keeper play for Italy he was born in harrogate and his real name is mark smith. some fans have no clue or sense of realisim do they. play for italy tut tut

ok post for all, both doomers and gloomers and the postivies. considering how many changes we have had, the fact the club could well of folded where is a realistic a decent finish this year and will we reach that or do better or worse? I am pleased with money spent and the age and potential of players although things are not amazing at the moment I think we will improve and do well (i think we will finish 6th or 7th and be very strong after christmas) on another note how good is lewis cook and slivestri I think they will both be England regulars by euro 2016. some might think that is optomistic but I think at least both will make england squad even if not starting 11, realistic or am I being optomistic?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lewis cook maybe but not Silvesrti as he is Italian. Cook plays like he is 22/23yo just hope he continues to learn and be patient and he will be a quality player for us if we keep hold of him which I think we can do now we have some stability with Cellino. M.O.T

Agree0 Disagree0

Will Silvestre qualify for England?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think under mc we will start keeping our players or if selling them at least letting them go for what they are worth and cook is starting to look like he might be a 20m player I think he could be that good. and of course Marco Slivertri quaifys for England, I heard he is changing his name to mark smith and will be making at least one big gaff a year that way at least everyone will think he is english

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermondsey I couldn't agree more about Cook. This kid has got a bright future. I thought Dawson may have broken through too this season but with all the midfield signings I am not so sure now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow you've certainly changed your tune BW. After the first game of the season you had us relegated despite a lot of us saying it's only one game! Half a dozen games in and now you've got us in the play-offs?

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

All about the coach MM, always had faith in MC but believe the manager/coach can make a world of difference. palace under holloway were going to go down and hopeless under pulis they were top six team on form, man u won title under fergouson and pretty much same team finish 7th under moyes. I think had we stuck with hockaday we would of gone down if he can nearly religat forest green from none league he clearly had abaility to take us down. now however he has gone so my tune and optomisim has changed. think we have good players with potential and once we gel we would could go on a great run. just need the right guy to come in and we will be flying

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermondsey, how do you know how much Cellino has spent as I can't find any figure that says how much has been spent on players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure if I can put website so this clue is cryptic, its on a website that first word is something you would do if back was itchy and second word is where you keep your tools (or beers if your me as I do no diy) of course the website might not be 100% accurate but I trust them and think they know what they are talking about and fees look realistic. nice not see all players in as frees or 60k

Ed. when was the last time Leeds got 15 players in one transfer window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - I bet it was close when Wise was in charge, but under the recent transfer window structure I believe it is unheard of}

Would take appoint against Bournemouth followed by a win against Huddersfield :)

Antenucci hat trick in their somewhere ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't see that happening to be honest think Eddie Howe's done well with Bournemouth and I remember going there last year on a Tuesday night and getting hammered, saying that most away games last year we got hammered lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Aunty Lucy is odds on to get a hat-trick of offsides if he performs as he did v Brum ;(

Agree0 Disagree0

If we keep the ball well and Silvestri has a good game then were capable of getting something their. Were miles better of than last season, just need to start scoring

Agree0 Disagree0

Scoring is often the last thing to come. look at under george graham, he sorted defence and we were so poor in attack then next season become a very good exciting team full of goals. similar thing happened at chealsea over last two seasons. keeper looks immense and defence looks much better (was joke at start of season) defence needs to improve a bit more then sure the goals will start coming

Like many on here I'm not laying into players who've arrived recently as it's difficult to tell in such a short time how good or bad they are.
I liken our passing to a kids side in that it's new to this lot & it's going to take time to take the next step "passing forward" at right times or running past a player to open them up a bit. It really is baby steps but it had to be done this way imo. Basics first followed by how to pass with purpose & how to split a defence by passing. True we have no width or pace which we must somehow sort out but I'm hoping for a real 1st team coach quickly to take it on as I don't believe Redders is the right man & if I'm honest I want him back with the accademy. Redders has done well integrating our youth & new guys but think that's where it ends. A top coach would sort out wheat from chaff quickly now and get us playing forward much faster & encourage flair from his midfielders. These players luv Redders but don't we all. We should beat a very poor Brum not scramble a draw & we will get a spanking soon unless we offer a threat going forward as it's all too easy for teams to get that first goal.
This all sounds negative but I do think we've been lucky to get even 1pt so far & had opposition been any good we'd be bottom of league however I believe we have the talent to finish 10th this season and top 3 next season but only with a real top coach

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post and realistic not all doom and gloom, it will take time and think the right coach will make a huge difference as it is the most important role, just look at palace last season to see that, think there is real potential in the team and that is something we have not had since grayson left, might take a year might click in over the next few games but I think we are and will get there MOT

Possession of the ball is essential! Over the last few seasons we have had to watch the ball lumped up field! Yestaday it was refreshing to see the players wanting the ball and taking responsibility! The youngsters looked assured in possession and as the game went on more so! Granted they didn't get it forward quick enough in the 1st half! but the 2nd half was an improvement on that! The performance was far from perfect but with players to come in the right balance could just be around the corner! it was certainly a step in the right direction!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Basically a new team. obviously it will take time. and time will tell obviously. heres to the future of our rebirth . and come on let's be fair to everyone involved in this. its g9nna take time and support from the best support in the world!! MOT ONONON

14 Sep 2014 13:45:27
I can't really believe how many happy reports are on here. Yesterday was awful- from both sides. We never managed a shot on target until the 2nd half. And those happy about possession - well it's just great watching your side knock balls around 60 yards from the oppositions goal! We need WINGERS. We need PACE. Without that we are going nowhere! This conintental style will not work in the championship. Our wingers were Warnock & Berardi which meant we were playing 2-6-2 for much of the time leaving our c halves 2 on 2 on many occasions. And the opposition haven't won at home for over a year! Let's face it if we are honest we should have lost to Bolton had it not been for Silvestre and had Thomas not missed a sitter of a header in the last minute we would have lost yesterday. It's going to be a long season. The lad Gray that came on for the Brum is a prime example of width and pace. He was the best player on the park for 20mins. Finally we need a MANAGER. I believe in Cellino & what he has done for Leeds already but please bring in an experienced manager and let him get on with it. Judge him by what he does then & let Redders carry on doing his fantastic job with the youngsters. Sorry guys this is just reality and my opinion. By the way the Leeds fans still the best in the world - especially when they were trying to fix the net! MOT. Ps we need to get rid of that kit too and get back to all yellow!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Brum beat Brighton at home earlier on in the season.
It's a new team, give it time before throwing your toys out the pram.

Agree0 Disagree0

Phil - the reason most of us are positive and happy with yesterday`s performance is straight forward; we have not seen a Leeds team play FOOTBALL for a very very long time and tbh they were pretty good at it.

Things are on the up!

The happy one, MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Before we all jump on philin's back I think we have to take stock. philin makes some good valid points and everyone is intitled to an opinion and to vent feelings (if not for the fans there would be no football let alone leeds Utd) didn't see the game sadly but I think what makes us generally happy is while things may not be perfect at the moment everything seems to be going in the right direction the team is younger and looks like it might have a few bits of quality in it. something lacking since grayson left. Think MC still has a lot to do but is going the right way and so hopefully is the club. not great ATM but will be sooner or later (i think we will challegne for play offs this year!) and I am super grumpy but know my football (so I say) so fingers crossed at the moment we have hope something we have not had for a while and something I didn't have a few weeks back

Agree0 Disagree0

Valley I am not throwing the toys out of the pram. I did that when Bates took over! Lol
And DualA1 - I agree it's great to watch football being played on the deck which it was. However there has to be an end result. But please just imagine you were Billy Sharp for a moment. As a striker would you be happy watching your team play footy 50yds from goal? He never got any service & was totally hacked off. You can't score from there. I just believe we have brought in some nice players but if a manager had done it then he would have added more balance. We need a couple of pacey wide men rather than the glut of central midfielders. And I must say our own boys of Cook &'Mowett were the best on show. I hope it pays off but sadly I don't think it will until we get width & a manager, not with that starting XI anyway. I really hope I am wrong. I must add though that the likes of Montenegro &!Adrayan may improve it somewhat and I agree with posts saying they all do need time which I accept too.
Bermond - thanks for the support. Love reading your posts mate. Keep em coming! Still & always MOT

Lewis Cook Man of the match yesterday, Cook and Mowatt work so well together I think they should be our regular pairing, need to pair Doukara with sharp though as antenucci doesn't have his flair and pace and seriously needs coaching on when to look down the line and make his runs (offside 9 times is way too much), think redders needs to start rotating the squad for midweek games so we can look at adryan, montenegro in the wide position and rotate sam and beradi have a look at del fabro rest bianchi with benedic, we have options now and strength in depth! The future is bright, the future is white, see you at bournemouth Guys! Whos coming? regards DJ MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good to see the youth leading by example, it's been a long time also since we have been able to have a bench that can actually change games instead of just replacing injured players, I feel we just need to be a bit more adventurous around the 18 yard box, Start testing the opposing keeper a bit more.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2014 14:45:40
Good to see four points from two games. But a couple of points of caution.

1. We are definitely still struggling to get goals.
2. Birmingham is a team well down the league. so away point. but there are much stronger tests in this league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sharp I think was a panic buy to appease the fans when potential transfers fell through. He has never really made it at any of his previous clubsexcept perhaps Donny Rovers and his head goes down too often and he goes walkabout when things are not going to his liking. He is a poacher supposedly but if you look at the positions he has taken up in recent games he does not give himself a chance At least with Ancelucci he was far enough forward to be off side. Sharp was either on the wing or far too deep. Either Sharp isn't good enough or his style doesn't suit us either way he is probably going to end up like he was at his previous few clubs - out of favour.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Sharp think he'll do ok for us

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2014 09:06:55
Sharp is a poacher and at the moment in our team we aren't creating enough chances for him to exploit his best abilities. For me I'd have Antenucci & Doukara up front, both have a bit of pace about them and bring a lot to the teams game with Antenucci running the channels and Doukara holding the ball up/winning headers in the middle.

May as well throw this one in but how is brian deane another ex player doing coaching in Norway.
Stats don't stand alone too bright but its what's he has to work with maybe they are ok taking players he has to work with.Anyone know? Maybe a Norwegian white could answer this for me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A Norwegian White here.
Deano has done exceptionally well at Sarpsborg, who are a small club with limited resources (smaller than Sandefjord in fact, if anyone remembers the pre season a few years back). He did well to keep them up last season, and has helped plenty of yougsters develop who have since gone to bigger clubs in Norway. I doubt this is what MC is looking for though, but you never know :)
I do think Deano is destined for bigger things somewhere in the future, will maybe get a league 1/2 job in a few years if he hasn't settled down in Norway by then.

Wasnt very impressed with any of the new lads yesterday. Beradi and Antenuuci were awful and Bianchi and Bellusci not much better. Sloth seems like he can play though. Well played Mowhatt and Cook and the two subs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - Its a good job the youth are carrying them}

Agree with most of your comment cork but remember these guys have come from a different league playing a different style of football. It's first time they've played together and with Adryan/Montenegro coming in will make it more difficult. Think it will take a lot longer than people think to gel but nice to see us having good periods of possession away from home, albeit against a poor side.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what your saying Andy but when they can't even do the basics right! It can take time to settle into a new club but some of the defending was terrible. And I tell you what Serie B must be bad if Antenucci was the top scorer last season! Worried for the rest of the season because Brum are bad and even though we were away there won't be many easier games.
Im amazed some people saying our squad is much better than last season. We have signed 14 or 15 new players but are they any good? We have lost over 40 goals to Fulham and I tell you what, Antenucci and Doukara won't get 10 between them! And as for Sharp, poor fella looks lost. No service whatsoever and barely had a kick in four games. No wonder he looked pissed off yesterday when coming off.
Next person who says Adryan has to start I will go mad. How do they know he's any f***king good?! What, because he's Brazilian and a few clips on Youtube of fancy flicks and a couple of free kicks makes him the new Gordon Strachan!
There are positives as at least the team is passing about quite well, just not much pace or width. The keeper has done well since arriving and Sloth looks like a player to me, but not sure about any of the rest.Thats a bad return on 15 players, only 2 looking the part. Early days I know and maybe the other Italian lads will make me eat my words, but somehow I doubt it. MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree fully. Berardi looked solid at the back, good on the ball. Bianchi showed moments of class, good passer. Sloth was very good and Antenucci looks handy. Thought Bellusci and sharp were poor though

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2014 14:14:53
subs ruddy got ball and lost it every time

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people must wear blinkers. Beradi caught out of position many times and not tucking in when needed. Bianchi great if all you need is sidewards passes. No influence whatsoever on the match. Lazy sod too!

Agree0 Disagree0

Antenucci looks handy does he? Seriously mate, he was awful.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2014 18:22:28
I wish some fans would get over McCormack. He's not going to score that many goals again and even if he did, where did his goals get us last season? 15th. If you prefer last year's hoofball dross to yesterday then suit yourself. Give me yesterday's performance over anything I saw last year, bar one or two games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Antenucci's first touch was good, a went past a couple of players at times, his final execution was poor but he barely gave the ball away. Reminds me of Somma just without the goals

Agree0 Disagree0

SG90 you can't say where did there goals get us 15th we were poor only smith and ross's excelence save us from finishing 24th. that said I agree they won't do that again and cash in while the going is good. I can see what cork and the others are saying and agree with both sides of the argument. must say missed game yesterday (never miss a game but couldn't get out of it) but think our signings have not looked that bad, our keeper is pure class I don't think many can argue with that he is young and will get better and is prem quality. cooper looks good, ajose poor really sharpe does score that can not really be argued with his record is good/decent. others it will take time to judge. least we are spending money, least the players are young and have potential. we have had old has beens/never were now we have players who just might take us to the next level or be sold on for profit to bring the next players in who might be the ones. not saying it will work and good and bad points at the moment but confident things will click and think we will be pushing up the table soon, not that long ago brum beat us heavily

Agree0 Disagree0

Mitchell
Aunty Lucy 10 offsides that give possession away, when he got the ball he never even looked for sharp. Come on mate we learn the offside trap in junior school ffs

Agree0 Disagree0

Silvestri and Doukara look good signings, looking forward to seeing the Brazilian debut

Agree0 Disagree0

Fully agree however like Eddie said, it was a good run just too early and atleast he's trying to get involved.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2014 10:20:57
Here we o again slagging players off before they have played a handful of games. Antenucci was offside a lot because he is used to quick balls through from midfield that will hopefully come, on stats Bellusci was our busiest player with most interceptions and clearances so maybe his partner was not pulling his weight, personally would play Cooper instead of Pearce at least he can pass a ball. Doukara is first class and gives 100per cent Sylvestri is top goalie in this division.Sharp looks a bit lost but needs to come infield more. Bianchi and Berardi look solid enough and will hopefully improve. Pace will come from Montenegro and Adryan. I am optimistic we look to be building a team. Top ten finish this year I reckon, even though I got £30 at 40-1 to win it.Just think midfield not quite right yet unless Doukara is playing would like a bit of width .

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2014 09:47:45
I tend to agree with a lot of comments after Birmingham game, it was actually nice to see us passing the ball, we looked confident at back and playing one touch football. Just need to find the right combo up top. Mowatt cook and sloth looked very good. I have a little more confidence now this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2014 11:56:36
Bellusci is a liability I am sorry. I love his spirit but he is a wildcard and you don't need that at centre half. He went to sleep in tracking his man for the goal, nearly put through his own net and sent off / penalty at Watford. This guy isn't a patch on Tom lees who everyone slated. Antenucci is clearly a decent player but I don't see him cutting it in the championship. Well done to redfearn for chucking Austin on in an attacking role as he causes teams trouble when he runs at them. Mowatt, cook, Silvestri, Pearce, sloth and doukare were good

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a patch on Tom Lees, do me a favour! Bellusci should not be partnered with Pearce as neither should be playing the sweeping role as both are slow. Play Bellusci with a mobile centre back and ask him to attack the ball and you will see a more capable player

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2014 16:07:27
Pearce is better at attacking the ball than bellusci and also wins balls in the air. Bellusci is short and can't jump. Agreed he has good anticipation but he has been shown wanting by both Birmingham and Watford attacks already. Pearce did not put a foot wrong yesterday but you would play bellusci ahead of him. Caught napping for the goal, just let his man run off him whilst he was ball watching

Agree0 Disagree0

Check the stats voodoo they are both 6ft 1inc. Pearce was Ok on saturday but could have easily conceeded two against Bolton due to his lack of pace/reading the game. The point being that Pearce and Bellusci should not be partnered however both are better than timid Tom Lees

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Notts have to agree with Voodoo, I have watched every game this season & Bellusci is a liability & when we come up against the better teams he will be found out

We passed. we moved (no hoofball). 2nd half we were superb & could have won it. Rudy was excellent when he came on as was Doukarra should have took Antenucci off instead of Sharpe that's my only criticism. Think we'll see Adrian more at Elland Rd than away from home but all in all a big improvement we're beginning to look like a football team & the future's bright imo. Loud & proud forever

Agree0 Disagree0

Defence played well, got caught napping & wrong side of the striker for brums goal. Silvestri had another good game, second half didn't get much to then made a fine save n think warnock cleared it off the line.
Aunty Lucy was 10yds offside around 10 times, a guy with his experience should know better but did show commitment in wanting the ball. Sharp I felt bit sorry for Aunty Lucy never looked for him when In possession and sharp lost interest. I'd have took Lucy off and let Doukaras pace feed sharp.
Austin YES Austin was VERY good in the 25mins he had (don't mind getting slated) Austin-Doukara made the difference. Sloth did ok started Tiring on the hour mark, mowatt-Cook grew in confidence and got better n better as the game went on.
Only criticism we passed the ball well but ended up in our own half with the possession, we need to pass it quicker and penetrate defences instead of going backwards.

Was in Henneseys bar in Brum City Friday night and got told off a few Leeds fans who know Redders MC told him we will have a new coach this week but had NO didn't say who ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermondsey was filming yesterday, have I missed something or what? Have we a South London thespian in our midst? Or does he make low budget 'naked art' movies for the more discerning audience?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the reports and to andy really value your opinion as you clearly know football well and give good valid critque and pluses and negitives. I honestly think things are on the up. and yes we have a cockney thespian in our midst. use to be in west end musicals and at the moment can be seen on the paddy power advert (the one shown all the time in world cup about bloke backing brazil) and rugby world cup promo. don't have the body for naked art videos unfortunatly despite my trying to get into that line of work ;)
