Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Right let's forget losing 6 0 and really get behind the team on sat because I reckon once we win a game or 2 our confidence will be back I still think we well in for a shout for play offs and am sure brian will get that striker and creative midfeilder we crave I think our defence is ok could be better but we need to sort out firing power too and sum1 to have that spak in midffeild can't see us losing like that agen I do agree with other posts about tom lees he seems scared of the ball I feel when the whole team are playing we'll he will too com on you leeds let's go on a win streak and start by smashing top the table Ant MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Will you say same thing when Leicester put 4 into Kenny goal in few days time?

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance of play offs mate, surely recent weeks have shown that. Everytime we take a step forward we take two back. Next season, possibly. Season after hopefully. This season no chance. Just my opinion of course.

Does anyone else agree with me that the reason why Zaliukas' form has dipped so dramatically over the past month or so is down to the fact that before we signed him he hasn't played a game since last season, he's knackered?
IMO he's crying out for a rest, McD should go 4-4-2 and rest him Vs Leicester (and then drop Lees as he's
terrible for the majority of this season.)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jan 2014 21:13:17
having lost Six - Love to Wednesday, I hope we can beat Leicester in straight sets or at worst on a tie break in the third!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I agree, loads have been slagging of Murphy and Austin recently but IMO Lees has been just as bad if not slightly worse if that's possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, it was the same with Austin last season, mowatt and zalikulas this season.

I notice a little debate on how McDermott is fairing in my eyes some decisions are very poor, I notice below someone mentioned something about hunt only been 60% fit, ok so why did McDermott sign him if not fully fit, also his decision not to play diouf your not telling me he's been away on personal matters all season, believe me McDermott doesn't like him full stop.

David haigh, please could you update us on the takeover us fans are gutted after the Sheffield Wednesday result

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Having made such a big play on things that the takeover was all done pending FL approval, is it unreasonable that 2 months later we should expect at least weekly updates as to why hasn't completed?! Think this is particularly reasonable when it seems to be hampering bringing in the promised new players!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2014 19:37:51
I know you have to say something like he's doing but I'm fed up of hearing him say we move on!
My mates ain't going to move on from that drubbing for the rest of the year.

Just great, could only happen to Leeds, we sign two wingers to try and get balls on our big man's head because his legs aren't that great, and he gets a 3 match suspension. plan B Brian?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And don't get too dispondent, McCormack isn't that bad in the air and has the quality to bring balls down and score of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2014 18:05:53
hey ed, what would u think of varney playing upfront sat. might not be everyone choice but he's got to be better option if balls are getting crossed in with mccormack just off him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - He is strongly linked with Blackpool mate, it wouldn't surprise me if he played McCormack on his own with Kebe and Stewart behind. If not Hunt could be recalled}

Get varney and green back in, we were stronger and more positive!

Agree0 Disagree0

Give Lewis Walters a go and play it on the ground!

Agree0 Disagree0

Now this was 6 months ago and against poor opposition but if carney could play like he did against Stevenage in a friendly then he certainly is a good backup striker to have and he did prove sphe can hit the net with a hat trick there so you never know and I would give him a chance (unless we sign a better striker of course)

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2014 09:05:51
Ed have you heard anything on le fondre? I think he'd be a great signing for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - Yes he is a target for Leeds, but the asking price is too high at the minute}

Would love alf at leeds sharp wickham stokes or k w jones but we never seem to get these kind of players and then it crazes me when they end up at ipswich brighton boro charlton or hudds

Worth a punt I reckon. was in the team that got them promoted and played quite a few games 4 em.

As expected the Matt Smith Red card decision has been upheld.
Have Leeds ever had one overturned?
I can't think of anytime we have.

Who will play up front against Leicester now with Ross as we will need to play two up front against them.
4-4-2 on Saturday - We need more than 3 defenders the way our defence and their attack played at the weekend.
My guess is that Hunt will play, he played for the development squad today so is getting fitter.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I reckon 4-5-1

Kenny(GK) Peltier (RB) Pearce (CB) Zaliukas (CB) Pugh (LB) Brown (CDM) Austin (CDM) Kebe (RM) Murphy (CM) Stewart (LM) Mcormackb(CF)

What I would go with against a 4-4-2 Leicester without seeing how training a gone of course

Does anyone know the latest with the take over, taking longer than 1st time round, Or is this a cunning plan to announce the day the window shuts so they don't have to spend any money. Just seems to be taking forever!!!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree this take over seems to be going on and on and you begin to wonder if there is more to it than there should be. Just checked and headline that deal was done subject to league approval came out 21/11/13 so just a week short of 2 months! There is a rumour on twitter that FL approval has been given which if true suggests that Directors/Owners are keeping quite to reduce pressure from fans to spend money. If they are doing this then should know that their sins will be found out eventually!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2014 20:00:36
What would be the point of taking over then keeping quiet about it? they might as well not have bothered.

Agree0 Disagree0

The point of keeping quite would be to avoid spending money in this t/f window. I agree seems pretty pointless to fans but that hasn't stopped previous owners!

To the deluded person who thinks mcdermotts signings have been good.noel hunt class signing don't think so, also Luke Murphy 1m well spent not, do I need to go any further, I think he has been poor in the transfer market to be honest, also his decision to make Austin captain poor, his decision to drop Diouf poor, his decision to play 3-4-3 sat poor, his decision to parade the players in front of irate fans( fully justified might I add) poor decision.so who else thinks his decisions have been good.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Murphy will come good, u don't turn into a bad player, he's just making adjustments to life in a higher league, noel hunt as it stands is wasted wages but to be honest when he signed him I was happy he was going to be a good player for us, as i'm sure a few was. So granted not been great for us but mcd can't predict the future performances of players just what going on currently and at the time of signing murphy he was a great prospect and probs the best player in league one for his age. Matt smith was brought in as a target man when losing games but due to not getting his intended target ( a guess ) smiths playing more than he wanted him to. He was a tactical genius when we beat birmingham 4-0 with this formation, now we lose a few and he's clueless?!?! Byram is not fit from what I can gather so that's why he's on the bench and when he started against rochdale he was poor, diouf has been absent with personal problems (try to keep up will you before moaning about stuff). Zakuliaus played for hearts in the europa league captained them in the spl and was a good player in general but due to money problems couldn't keep him, and again at the time of signing him he was great, goals stopped going in against us and we was doing well. Kebe was awesome in the championship for reading, fairly decent in the prem. to which crystal palace bought him, so again can't be a bad player. Stewart is young and will be told what's expected of him and as most managers say its hard to get quality in, in january, so I feel he'll be a squad player next year got pace to pass players and hopefully will have an end product. So overall I know its hard to right another season off but the foundations are starting to show, I feel we might scrape in to play offs this year ( well we can dream :D ) but be a very good team come next year

Agree0 Disagree0

To the deluded so called supporters that comment on players that give 100% effort when only 60% fit GOD HELP US.
Your slagging Noel Hunt off? at least he tried when thrown into the sqaud when only 60% fit. I watched a sold called team that were 100% fit @ Windies and gave a lot less effort than Mr Hunt

AndyMOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Did he drop Diouf?
Diouf has been asking for time off, training when and only when he wants to.
If you let players walk all over the manager then the cancer spreads and you knackered.
I liked Dioufys effort but you can't let him dictate to anyone, LEEDS are bigger than anyone player (FACT)

AndyMOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Its ok then as Long as players give 100%, doesn't matter about results and if there crap, as for Diouf he's not been away all season what's mcdermotts excuse he just doesn't like him.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2014 20:51:33
dont know what's going on with diouf other than he's supposed to be getting offered a new contract. does this mean he will get a game

We are being linked with the following strikers Adam le fondre, Leigh Griffiths, Kevin Doyle (outside odds) and Leon Clarke. If you could choose one, who would you choose? Jim_lufc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Le fondre or griffiths as they are the types of players we need

Would also take be chip if the price and wages were fair

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry meant becchio

Agree0 Disagree0

It has to be ALF we bring in, I would agree Griffiths from wolves could do a job for us if we were unable to get ALF.

Just to repeat what's been said many times before by other posters, it's gritty no nonsense centre mids we need to protect the back, control the centre and support the attack. Dorrans and Moussa from Coventry would be my choices all day.

Like many others I was hacked off after latest defeat (hammering) and emotions get tested at such times. Now after time to calm down and reflect, I believe McDs signings will come good, Hunt when fit is a good player and will be a great benefit to Leeds. Kebe needs game time, Byram still getting back to fitness, Murphy still settling in, spoke to two very fanatical Crewe fans on holiday and they raved about what a very talented player Murphy is and were in no doubt Crewe had sold another young gem.

Early days in the rebuilding process, for me McD has to get the team playing football on the deck, players being comfortable and confident with the ball at their feet, and using a consistent formation with a consistent starting group.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2014 16:41:49
see that the takeover talk has all but died again, why is it taking so long?will we miss yet another transfer window?, fair enough we brought in 2 wingers but we need to show more ambition then that surely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jan 2014 13:04:06
mcdermotts done a good job his signings have all been good be carefull what you wish for leeds might get enougher manager who likes hoofball who signs pensioners. I think we are very lucky to have mcdermott the leeds players (niel warknocks bunch) are not peforming on purpose and these players don't want leeds to get promoated because they know they would all be gone these players are taking the mick out of the fans who go without to watch leeds if I was the chairman i'd give the manager the day off i'd tell the players there not getting contracts and they better perform or else no clubs will want to sign them and i'd also get a military PTI in to do training and training would be at 6 in the morning and would continue to be held at that time untill they start trying and showing the passion the fans do there would also be 2 week fines going out left right and center they would be rapid improvements then

Good post Brian! You forgot to mention you got to the play off final and won promotion the following season with reading!

Agree0 Disagree0

It is bmd who continues to let austin be the captain and a lot of nw's signings don't even play. I prefer bmd but his tactics lately can't be blamed on nw. vinny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Love the passion but question the large amount of stick and not enough carrott. Would argue at times this season that we have played plenty of hoofball. BMcD is still the man to take us forward but needs to address our issues such as formation and style of play. The midfield is also non-existant, if players are not brought in during the window then pride may need to be swallowed to bring Green and Norris back into the fold. Not ideal but he needs to utilise the resources he currently has to a better effect

Agree0 Disagree0

Norris is still out injured as for green he's only just started training again this week so to throw him straight back into the side would be risky.

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't say play green and norris now, I suggested that they need to be brought back into the fold, obviously when fit

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2014 12:35:26
be interesting to see the team this weekend looks like the team this weekend if development is anything to go by well be playing 442. McDermott must see byram as an attacking option after last two games and should hopefully see he needs to be played as him mccormack look only players capable of creating anything. hopefully we will get to see more of kebe and Stewart now they have had more time to fit into the squad and hopefully drop Austin he's being a liability lately will probably need to replicate his performance against Birmingham to get fans back on side

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Every home game I've been to this season fans are always behind austin never heard anyone say owt bad about him at least he always puts the effort in!

14 Jan 2014 11:53:30
I personally believe, that little horror show on Saturday, may have scuppered the chances of signing a lot of BM's potential targets. If you were a player of any note, would you sign for the team you saw at the weekend?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah, because I wouldn't mind being the one to turn things around for leeds united., this bad run won't last long, trust me

When can we get back to wearing the all white strip consistently, that's where the passion and culture of our great club stems from. Is the gold shirt really necessary?
Observing from a far can the fans advise me on Wooton's form. I see teams posted by fans and his name is not there, although he appeared to start of well.

Having spoken to a few fans away from the internet many believe BMD will spend money in the summer rather than wasting it by panic buying this January.

That said, I still think we need to get a good base down to start with, I think we have a good starting 11 when fit, but our squad is very average, we definitely have a lot of shipping out to do, we got about 5 or 6 players who should definitely go, they are just taking up wages for other players.

If we sign ALF, which is now looking more likely given that (Who are our betting partners) have slashed his odds from 6/1 into 4/6, and a quality attacking midfielder, someone like Dorrans, plus a decent centre back, I see Craig Dawson has been linked again, then I feel we have something to work with come the summer.

I think promotion is a tough ask now, especially with our current squad, but if we do the above I feel we have the foundations for a successful campaign next season.

MOT

SussexLeeds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Brian Mc waits until the summer, he might find himself sitting on a beach unemployed. I'm not saying he needs to pay over the odds, or buy a full squad of players, but he does need a central midfielder who can control a football and a striker, minimum. Oh yeah getting back to 4-4-2 might not be a bad thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here,

I agree entirely, even if we do spend in the summer I still feel we need 3 or 4 in at the moment just to cope with the current poor situation.

id be more than happy if alf came in but I do hope bmd is seriously looking for defenders and quick.
zaliuskas is showing now exactly why he was available and tom lees just not in any form at moment.
tell you what that red johnson at sheff weds looked a man mountain and could do worse that look at his bite in the team.shrew leeds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Come on man zaliukas has had a couple of bad games as has everyone. the rest of the time he's been superb

Agree0 Disagree0

We were very poor and made a very average team look like barcelona .reda johnson man mountain who went down like he'd been shot no thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

Op here. Everyone entitled to their own opinion but just watch the change in attitude if we win a few games on the bounce suddenly BMD will be the Messiah.
We need a healthy dose of realism we're a work in progress and setbacks will occur. If we are still in this state this time next year I will panic, not before. MOT Ron

Agree0 Disagree0

Op here.
reda johnson went down because he was caught big style.
now the thing was smith i'm sure didn't mean it hence he was a bit unlucky to go but watch it properly and he prop caught him.
we don't have a leader. when the chips are down the players like ross heads go down instead of lifting themselves to change it.
we are in bother because the players to really change us are too expensive. we have to make do with the cameron stewarts of this world.im not saying he's rubbish and I will support him but we just can't get the better quality which we have to live with.
we are one of prob 14 clubs with a chance of the play off spots. anything can happen. shrew leeds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's very overrated by our fans tbh. Just scores tap ins mostly.

14 Jan 2014 16:05:45
A sub that as put 7 away out of 10 games 9 0f them of the bench so you can cut that 10 games down to 6 at best .Do the maths over a full season and also if he was a regular starter

14 Jan 2014 06:24:28
I think Leeds are going to have to spend big on a top player either in the heart of defence or on a defensive creative midfielder if we are going to succeed. A new lb is a must unless Warnock is finally fit .but even then we need backup

RIP Bobby Collins a true Leeds legend. My prayers are with his family.
Back to the present. People calling for BMD's head need to wake up and smell the hummus. It is going to take time for him to get things right. if he was allowed to be honest I'm sure he'd say he hasn't got the squad he would like. None of us like the recent performances or results, but I'm sure over the last few days the players have been told in no uncertain manner there needs to be massive improvements both in play and attitude.
The club are making small but positive steps to get out of the Bates era and we all need to support that. Any new manager would struggle to get this team promoted.
Throw as much garbage at me as you like, you won't change my opinion that BMD is the best chance we've had to get things right even if it's next season. MOT Ron.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So you like a manager that plays weird formations and fails to rest players. You see all the other managers play good formations and squad rotate. It's called tactical nous. BMd has zero.

Bobby Collins RIP

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree 100%. Some people's opinions change game to game.

And RIP Mr Collins - I came to the table a couple of years too late to see him play for Leeds but my uncles who started taking me in 1970 told me all about his importance in the early phase of the Revie plan.
