I think Redfearn is starting too look a bit silly

Our keeper is a serie b reject, our best 3 defenders atm are serie a rejects and one serie b reject, our best striker is, you guessed it, a serie a reject and the kids last night were bloody awful.

How does that mean Redfearn is silly?

Most players are rejects if they played for more than one club.

Smitch mate you do some excellent posts but this one is just, well, silly.

14 Aug 2015 21:15:30
Ok I've worded it wrong, his philosophy was completely wrong and people kept on saying how well he done and how good he was, but in truth all he did was create a divide between the players and put the youngsters in the shop window

14 Aug 2015 17:14:34
Is this argument far too simplistic?
Last year our basic problem was that we didn't score nearly enough goals - despite everything else that was going on, we obviously would have done much much better with more goals - we never really looked close to conceding bucket loads.
So, do we now have a coach who is more tactically astute? And have the changes in players been ones who will potentially lead to more goals?
There we go! More or less same defence, for better or worse, and better attack!1
Bring on the PREM
Simples!!

Ross turnbull for first choice like him tbf was really good taking the ball out of the air I do like silvestre but he has you closing your eyes everytime a ball is sent in

Silvestri woulda saved that penalty and may have saved a few in the shootout, so I disagree.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - I'm sorry mate but there is no way you can be sure of that and pens are a lottery. I think Turnbull played well and was close to two of the pens}

14 Aug 2015 19:24:39
Well I think its good to know we have two good goalies. Personally on the evidence of last night, and previous games from Silvestri, I don't mind who plays - they do have different styles and the competition can do no harm

Agree with Speedy. Two totally different types of keepers, if you can have such a thing!

yes one good at diving saves and one good in air but need both skills together

15 Aug 2015 11:31:38
I like silvestre he is top draw shot stopper but he's weak in the air Burnley exploited it as will other teams not saying turnbull should be there all the time maybe against big teams(as in tall) lost count how many crosses he claimed maybe just maybe it will rub off on silvestre saying this though he won us a lot of points last season and is one of the best in the league .

My match ratings:

Turnbull 7 looked comfortable
Berardi 7. Made some great tackles again
Bellusci 8. Surprisingly good
Cooper 5 unpredictable and lots of mistakes
Taylor 5 defensively poor
Cook 6 good before red
Wootton 4 just the usual ***** from him
Mowatt 6 too slow at times
Doukara 6 made a few good tackles and positioned well in the box
Dallas 6 quiet
Antenucci 7 dangerous when attacking

Wood 7 big impact when on, brought others into game
Byram 6 can't use his left foot
Murphy 7 looked sharp when on

Agree Leedsyar, wouldn't change any of those, Cooks passing was horrific all night as was Mowatt's. I didn't rate Doukara much, I think he's better being the last man.

14 Aug 2015 19:15:18
Well leedsyar
When smitch agrees you know you got it spot on!
I agree as well :)

14 Aug 2015 20:44:14
I think passing was bad from the whole team. But there is something about Mowatt even when not having a great game. I always think he's going to score. 15 plus goals this season, I believe.

I hope Rosler's comments about Wooton were simply a case of him not wishing to criticise one of his players in public. Wooton I believe has serious limitations wherever he plays and how he keeps getting selected is a mystery. Rosler did however speak very highly of Ajose not long before telling him he wouldn't get another game at Leeds in the future. So who can tell what's in the head coach's mind? Probably the way it should be. Let's see what the future holds Team looked better against Burnley. Just hope Wood can prove he is a goal scorer rather than just another player who can lead the line. Morison could do that.

14 Aug 2015 19:17:35
Ditto to that Hess
Don't think a manager should ever criticise a player in public, and vice versa.
We do enough of that!
That's the stuff that should be left behind closed doors. Hope we are learning from the past in that respect

14 Aug 2015 20:24:48
Wooton is there to make up the numbers at this point. To give say Bamba a rest every now and again but playing him in midfield was extremely wrong. Hopefully we sell him and Ajose soon and acquire better players but can't see that happening until January. We could've played Sloth last night. Real insult to prefer Wooton over him.

15 Aug 2015 08:55:07

Dissapointed with that showing. Gutted we got beat by Donny but it did show what we have. Why Wooton gets a game is beyond my understanding, surely Phillips would have been best choice, but maybe Rosler used game to try out a few things, hope he learnt something. Douks really poor showing in games, thought he would have been suited to way we are playing but out of his depth. Hope Wood gets a goal soon, don't need another Morrison. can't understand what's going on with Sloth as surely there was a place for him in the team last night, and in the matchday squads instead of Wooton. Defence still lacks a bit of discipline and ball needs to get forward quicker. Some positives as we seem to know the game plan and I think if Cook had stayed on we would have beat them easily but its a young team and they were not sure how to compensate, will have learnt a bit. Still need a couple of signing on this showing, defence midfield and attack

Before kick off I said that I would not be dissapointed if we lost but it is what I saw (or didn't see) that concerns me.
Early days, but certain players do not look up to the quality demanded of both Leeds and the Championship also the "Heavy Metal" is not quite there.
The tempo from defence to attack is as slow as last year.
I said that I will reserve judgement until Sept but I would be happy to see signs of improvement sooner rather than later

common sence if he wanted to give wotton a game it had to be right back ( in changing room )not centre midfield we all know that . WAKE UP COACH DERRRRR

Believable2 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2015 10:19:50
Its quite clear that we have no depth in the centre of midfield, if Wootton had to play the position.

It makes the decision to let Rudy go a little naive.

Just hope we bring in someone there that the manager would be happy playing (as sloth is out of favour).

Barton anyone?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2015 11:45:59
I thought I read somewhere that Rudy wouldn't have been permitted to sign a new contract for the same reason Wendys couldn't sign him, which is why we let him go. I could be wrong, I usually am but could this explain why?

Anyway Happy Friday, peeps - who wants to win a tin pot trophy anyway?

Up the Whites, down the Pints!

14 Aug 2015 13:21:50
That actually makes sense, but I guess he would have a better argument for getting it as it would be an extension to an already established contract.

either way, we are short there and should be looking at bringing some experience in.

As much as I love the kids playing, Byram seemed a little too fresh to take a pen in a shhot out and WoodS too (just as a striker expected more)

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 15:27:45
Think we were very unlucky to lose Murphy and Bianchi before the season started and in hindsight maybee wouldn't have let Austin go. Not sure about the timings of these injuries so like I said before, could be wrong.

Wooten
Cooper

Doukara would not have got in the Donny team, headless chicken who can trap a ball further than most can kick it! Wooton centre half playing centre midfield when to be fair played his best football at right back albeit not great in that position either. We have a centre midfielder in sloth who as handed in a transfer request due to his lack of games and when he does play he is on the left or right wing? early days yet but wood looks more like £3 not £3 million. Cooper not good enough at this level. On the plus side although Belluci frightens me every time he is near the ball he played well :o) Antilucy solid, Dallas maybe a good un in the making but we have not had a winger for sooo long not sure who to compare him to. Keeper looks solid, I like him. As much as I don't like Joey Bartons arrogance maybe he might be the missing link. Overall disappointed we looked like last seasons team carrying too many light weights. We still need a winger and a strong central defender and we need to lose some of the dead legs. Chin up early days

You should of seen my header last night! Iwas standing outside my lounge having a fag ( misses sent me out!) Minding my own business when a ball came out of nowhere hit me a the head and went straight in my grandkids garden goal! Does that mean woods gets an assist?? Lol

I just think they hacked and slashed and did everything they could to break our play up.

14 Aug 2015 08:15:57
What we learned from last nights game is that Wootton and Doukara arn't good enough. That Dallas and Wood are not quite on their game yet, (I think once Wood gets one he'll get a bag full).
The two Italians were our best players. Turnbull looked like he will be an able deputy, but the main reason we lost last night was Cook getting sent off. I thought we were controlling the game up until the penalty and would have done again if we'd have kept eleven on the pitch. I couldn't really care less about the league cup. I just hope missing Cook for the next three league games doesn't cost us points.
I've heard Lewis Cook is in the new Dads Army film playing the part of Pike. Stupid boy! :-)

14 Aug 2015 09:26:41
we played with 8 men for most of the game , Cook off and Wootton and Daktari worse than useless. Its worrying Rosler did not spot thier inability in preseason and training

Agree1 Disagree0

14 aug 2015 07:26:56
well fans should get money back ok down to 10 men but before that rubbish. let's give wotton a game right back oh rosler puts him centre midfield 3 bad tackles includung giving away penalty .how he never got booked and how he even came out for second is behond me .
looking at him bellusci cooper doukara there time is up . as for some of the passing disgracful .should of been 3 changing at half time .after all rosler said were up for it . is this what the rest of the season is going to be like god help us then

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2015 09:44:58
Disagree about Bellusci I thought he played well last night. I think we should have a better centre back to partner Bamba but not off the back of last night's performance

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 11:16:36
So bellusci plays well n fans still slate him? Haha i'd rather ofmhim played midfield instead of wooton

14 Aug 2015 19:20:09
When he's good, he's very good, but sometimes rash.
But then I can remember watching Norman Hunter and Billy Bremner. so nothing new in that

14 Aug 2015 06:06:56
Ok not many positives from last night and getting in after midnight and up early doors is certainly no bonus. I thought when Cook was sent off and I've still to see this right on TV, because where I was stood it looked like a strong tackle, I thought we defended well. Ok it was men behind the ball, but it was ok. I thought Turnbull played well and Uwe's substitutions were attacking minded. All those whoever thought Doukara was a player must now be of the same opinion I've had for a year, he's not that cracking at all. Couldn't even control it. Still here's to Sunday.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2015 09:47:06
Cook's tackle was two footed, automatic red. Agree about Doukara, could not trap a bag of cement

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 12:19:41
Seen it now Notts and I agree nowadays players can't go in two footed. 10 years ago I still think it would have been classed as a decent tackle :) The kid looked genuinely sorry afterwards.

14 Aug 2015 13:22:14
Yes JT, he is not malicious, he just over ran the ball and had the desire to win it back. Unfortunately he got it wrong.

Glad I didn't get up at 3am to watch it
Admire you're enthusiasm grip and scoop, where you been?
So are we to gather that we haven't got strength in depth? Cause UWE talks of rotating squad which is necessary but a bit risky if squad b can't beat Doncaster
Are we going to manage without cook?
Is wood really going to come good?
Wasn't cooper, Woottan and douk not good enough last year? Time will tell.
I still reckon 6 points are poss from next 2 games!
Pluses from last night. I had a good nights sleep!
