I disagree with a lot of the posts of late about Diouf. I think he will very quickly become a crowd favourite. I would bet that not before too long he will be the first name on the team sheet. We like a bit of Mongrel on our team. Vinny Jones, Lee Boyer. I see him and Austin being ledgends.......Ok, I agree that I might be totally wrong and have to eat my words....but they may be part of the fairytail that we are hoping for this season.

Whys everybody no negative towards ken bates hes only WORTH 20 MILLION THAT IS NOTHING IN FOOTBALL TERMS look at the players we've got in Paddy kenny, pearce, peltier, norris, AUSTIN, DIOUF etc top players at this level !! the only thing i disagree with is ticket prices but look what hes brought in !! class pal

Believable6 Unbelievable3

What's it got to do with Bates? He doesn't choose any of those players.

Agree4 Disagree5

Bate's hasn't funded any of that, bates hasn't put his hand in his pocket once, only to buy the club and he only did that cos he knew he'd make millions, seriously is bates your dad ? And i don't know where you got £20M from, he's worth considerably more than that.
But to answer your question I hate bates because he's greedy, he himself is no leeds fan and has bled us dry for too long and dosnt give a sh!t about the very people that have lined his pocket. MOT

Agree5 Disagree5

Agree with your post although it was reported last week that Bates was worth £150m. He sold Chelsea years ago for £30m...He has the money to get Leeds back into the Prem although he's obviously decided its time to go !

Agree4 Disagree2

Hi ken nice to hear from you. ....kevlufc

Agree4 Disagree2

And how much did those players cost in comparison to whats been sold over the past season. Neil Warnock brought in these players on the limited budget he has been afforded. Ken Bates hasn't put a red cent of his own money into Leeds United and is only interested in developing the ground and its surroundings so that if and when the takeover goes through he will walk away with millions. So you, like the rest of us, carry on and keep paying extortionate ticket prices to line Ken's pockets even more. Wake up you people and smell the coffee and see Ken Bates for what he really is !!
Love Leeds Hate Bates !!

Agree3 Disagree0

Its time for this parasite to get his greesy, stinking. egotistical hands off are beloved club. If this takeover doesn't happen, then its time West Yorkshire had a revolution. We will have no kingdom, aslong as this man rules us.
SGT WARNOCKS BARMY ARMY!!
mot4life

Agree2 Disagree1

Just to balance the argument a little....
So what we are saying here is KB didn't at any minute put his hand in his pocket for LUFC, so he didn't save our club from becoming bankrupt beyond repair, I didn’t think so. But then more interestingly and he made the biggest transfer we could have asked for, buying our club, why should he put his hand in his pocket to buy players. He probably spent more of his own money bringing us back from financial doom than we know, set up a sound business plan and has let the club pay for its self. And if you look at it squad investment has been on a rotation of every two years. He gave SG money as soon as he got there, then he got promoted next season with not too much, then he gave SG the money to go sign 11 players for first year in championship, then he didn't spend too much, SG said he had what he needed, now this year we have invested in squad. Can’t really ask for much more. I think too many Leeds fans have a short term memory and have hate bates glasses on all the time.
But don't get me wrong, no chairman is perfect.

Yet i suppose you classed snodgrass as our best player last season? well i have a season ticket so was obviously at donny game, he was by a country mile the best player you couldnt even compare snodgrass to him. Diouf is proven in the prem and at the highest level of international football to question his goalscoring ability and all round talent is ridiculous. As vile as he might be for the championship he is one hell of a player.

Just wanted to have my input on the hot topic that is...diouf!

Imo its a bad move for Leeds as a club. Sporting ability he is a good player, certainly good enough for this league but on a non sporting related level, diouf is a horrible human being! Anybody who says "why do you personally know him then" etc is a moron....anybody who stands over another human being with a broken leg, cursing him and shouting abuse is scum for me! We all hate Roy Keane for the exact same reason remember, or are people too short memoried to remember that?! Also, regardless of the result on a Saturday afternoon I also care for LUFC and the image and reputation we give and its no wonder we get the bad publicity and nicknames we do when were prepared to give this man a wage (albeit a low one according to media) and a route back into football!

I'm not one to boo and I won't boo him but that aside I think this man isn't worthy of wearing the famous white jersey! And all the people saying 'give him a chance' etc....how many chances does this man want?! I agree with everybody deserves a 2nd chance but this human being passed chance number 2 a long time ago!

A leopard doesn't change its spots, remember that! Vile human being! The list goes on as to reasons hes not fit for Leeds n all people can say is hes a good player as a positive! So was Keane, Barton etc would you welcome them?!

Scot MOT! {Ed058's Note - remember vinnie jones? Dirty Leeds through and through! That last few years our team has been too week he is the sort of player who wil bring a physical edge to Leeds again}

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Agree ed! Plus diouf is a quality player, he may have a bad repupation but if he plays well and does well for leeds then i certainly dont give a f*** what he has done before now

Agree5 Disagree4

Sorry mate but your the mug, i agree that in the past diouf has bin a pain in the back side for pretty much every team he has played for, but the bloke has a decent amount of international caps and goals, he has bin there n done it at premier league and most recently this division.
if u ask donny fans he was 1 of a few shinig lights in them being relagated last yr and this guy was a class act in the match against ourselves, maybe u should go down to ER and apply for the managers job, coz obv by ya comments ya think NW has lost it? if any1 is guna get us promoted its neil and the guy is a messiah at pickin up the right guys for the job.
diouf gives us strength in depth n i mean proper strength as well as wide right, a team with him ross n becchio in is one to be worried about.
sorry my man but u r totally wrong, i mean even the roy keane comment? as leeds fans we hate him coz he played for the scum BUT i bet even tho he broke someones leg delibrately did united fans ever turn on him? n i bet ya QPR will welcome barton back with open arms, this guy is class and if u want what the rest of us do..... promotion then players like diouf r guna help us achieve it

Agree4 Disagree4

Hes not the messiah hes a very naughty boy

Agree5 Disagree2

Original poster here...

I agree and its a fair point to say diouf will add a physical bite to the team, like I originally said he also has quality which is undoubted at this level.

However, the point I make goes deeper than footballing terms! I don't think the image Leeds promote is a very good at all when signing a player like him. Quality aside, morally its wrong that a human like him should wear the Leeds shirt. Spitting at people and standing over players with potentially career ending injuries, hurling abuse in unacceptable in any sense of the matter!

People will always have divided opinions on diouf but for me any physical or skilfull qualities should have been put to one side as he is near enough a thug! Sometimes its easy to forget that football is a game, but deeper than that, the image he has given himself should never be connected to LUFC in anyway!

I'm Leeds through and through but the colour of his shirt/badge doesn't ammend or excuse the inexcusable things this guy has done!

Just my opinion and ed, I appreciate yours.
Scot MOT!

Agree3 Disagree2

Carefull what you say about keane bud the man is a legend and hes a legend because of the player he is on the pitch if you ever heard the saying give 100% on the picth leave nothing behind think whats missing with footballers d days thats what footballs about passion and its sad you never c it anymore

Agree3 Disagree2

"Ed058's Note - remember vinnie jones? Dirty Leeds through and through! That last few years our team has been too week he is the sort of player who wil bring a physical edge to Leeds again"

To ED058 - SHAME ON YOU - you obviously know nothing about Vinnie's career at Elland Road!

Vinny was NEVER EVER SENT OFF or EVEN BOOKED in the whole of his playing career at Leeds to my knowledge, and I'm sure other 'TRUE' Leeds supporters will back me up on this!

I was fortunate enough to also see him score his first goal ever for Leeds against Hull City - what a belter and what a game!!

Leeds4alongtime

Agree1 Disagree1

To ED58 - Why haven't you posted my mail about your total ignorance regarding Vinny Jones? Is it because you don't want to show your obvious ignorance to the fact he was never once sent off or booked while at Leeds? Or doesn't that fit in with your 'dirty' Leeds claim?

Leeds4alongtime {Ed058's Note - I'm on holiday at the moment and have better things to do than wait for your comments, now I don't know the stats about his bookings. But correct me if I am wrong but does vinnie still hold the record for quickest red card in football? And he had over 45 red cards in his career, and your saying he wasnt a dirty player?}

Agree1 Disagree0

Mixed opinions - i totally agree with the original comments. When I think of the sheer class that have worn the shirt over the years I shuddr at the thought of this vermin wearing the white shirt. Some people seem to want to sell their soul - I'm just not one of them!!

Agree2 Disagree1

Question to original poster,

If you think it promotes a bad image, do you see doncater as a club with a bad image?

Danny ls8 {Ed058's Note - Agreed, who ever we sign Leeds still have a bad image, might aswell live up to the reputation}

Agree2 Disagree0

And Vinnie was a major hate figure when he arrived at eland road. Universally considered to not be 'one of us'. And that is where the comparison lies. How fairly he played when at leeds isn't relevant. So, high horse, pipe down.

Agree1 Disagree3

Original Poster here...
In response to the question re Donny - I have don't have clue what the signing did for their reputation as i'm not a donny fan, but i can assure you their would of been plenty of Donny fan in the same opinion as me - he's a disgrace of human being and whether or not he adds 'strength in depth' or quality is irelavent to the point i'm making! And to say were already a hated club why not live upto it almost makes it sound like people want to sign only people like Diouf!

I accept in every respect that the lad has quality and will add bite to Leeds but it doesnt change a dime about the fact he is evil and a disrespectful guy! the problem is Diouf is like a coin - 2 sided but blinded Fans seem to think he's gods gift just because he has quality!

People are looking at him from a football point of view which is fair enough where I just see it deeper and no matter how good he is, a vile creature like diouf should not wear the famous leeds badge!

Also, people have said on here that he could be the difference between us pushing to get promoted or not......he certainly wasnt the difference for Donny avoiding the drop last year?!

Scot MOT!

Agree0 Disagree3

Vinnie won three yellow cards in his season at Leeds. No reds....good clean record by many's standards. Still a good hardplayer though.

13 Aug 2012 13:23:54
I don't know why everyone is banging on about Diouf signing, fair enough nobody likes him but last I saw we were never a team that wanted to be liked.

Also I remember watching something when QPR signed Barton and it was showing how Warnock has great man management and showing some of the other players that he'd tamed in the past.

And Barton hardly put a foot wrong the whole time Warnock was there. Yeh fair enough he slagged Warnock off when he left and then acted up in the last game of the season but he wouldn't of dared do any of that when Warnock was there.

Diouf is a quality player and Warnock is the right man to get the best out of him.

Recon we will see a few hard tackles flying in from Austin and Pearce this year as well, don't think we will be a team that people like playing. Which can only be a good thing have them on the back foot before the games even start.

I can't believe there are Leeds fans who because the takeover still hasn't materialised and talks of it been touch and go wether it will go through are actually worried about us this season saying we are in a relegation fight...

Look at the team from last season and who we have in this season and it only looks good for us... Why people think we are going to struggle is beyond me.

GK Lonnergan - Replaced with Kenny
RB Connoly - Replaced with Peltier
CB O'Dea - Replaced With Pearce
CB Lees (Signed new contract)
LB Robinson - Replaced with Drury
RM Snodgrass - Replaced with Diouff
CM Clayton - Replaced with Austin
CM Brown - Replaced with Norris
LM Sam - Replaced with Green
ST Becchio - (good preseason this year)
ST McCormack - (looks to be signing new deal)

SUBS
Rachubka - Replaced with Ashdown
Nunez - Replaced with Varney
Paynter - Replaced with Gray
Pugh - Replaced with White signing new contract
Somma - (once fit will be good this season)

We have some experinced reserve players also in Kisnorbo, Brown and Bromby (when fit). Warnock still wants 2 more players which will add the icing on the cake...

Throw in the group of youngsters who have impressed in pre-season (Byram, Poleon, Payne, Cairns, Turner twins, Thompson and Taylor

How can we be in a relegation battle with this squad?? Me personally would see that team being in a promotion fight...

Sankey.I

Believable17 Unbelievable1

Totally agree, people can't and won't see how much our SQUAD has improved from last season until we start the season properly, we have experienced players, the majority of whom have either been in a promotion fight before and know what it takes or played at a higher level, if the Shrewsbury game is anything to go by this season we should be in for a good one. We do still need a couple of quality players in but I am sure NW is doing all he can to ensure we get these. MOT SussexLeeds

I think we should giev Diouf a chance, We have short memories, look when we took Cantona, nobody in France would touch him such was his reputation. Left us and became an icon at Manchester. The manager knows what he's like and he's going to give him a chance. So should we, lets see what he's like with proper supporters behind him

Believable10 Unbelievable1

That's a fair point but this guy still karate kicked a fan who had paid good money to watch a game of football....not be the victim of gbh! Why do people deem it acceptable that others can get away with foul and inhumane behaviour just because they are talented!?

As much as cantona was a great player, he was an animal - to do what he did! The same as Keane, Barton, Thatcher, bowyer etc....does it make them different from the rules because they were good players?

scot MOT!

Agree1 Disagree3

Yes I agree give him a chance rather have a fighter who is prepared to get stuck in we have lacked a player with passion for some years now, no one likes Leeds anyway so he might not be Mr popular but if he scores a few golas all the ones who are slagging him off will suddenly say they were behind him from day one.NW will know how to tame him and get the best out of him.

Agree2 Disagree0

To 2nd poster,

Believable12 Unbelievable0

I wasn't very happy with the signing. His behaviour has been pretty vile in the past. I've said some very negative things on here about him and stand by what I've posted but Warnock's convinced me and I've never supported capital punishment, so for what it's worth I for one have decided to give him the chance to prove he's been rehabilitated. I just hope I don't end up regretting that.

With the signings NW has made if u think about it our first XI which only going to get stronger next couple of weeks is probably the strongest side we've had since beating Arsenal 3-2 last day of season in May 2003. Team which went down in 04 very poor and Blackwell's Wembley play-off final side not as good as side we got now in my opinion.

Only time will tell. But I hope your right.

Reading lots of comments about Diouf. With all he's done wrong since arriving in England especially the Mackie incident he probably has a mental disorder or illness. Strange as it may seem perhaps playing for Leeds will be his cure. I expect a very harsh fines clause to go into his contract for all spitting incidents. Can u imagine if he'd ever spat at Vinnie, Duncan Ferguson or any other of the game's hard men? He'd be dead meat.

Just want to say something about the signing of El Haddj Diouf, a lot of fans Boo'ed him on Saturday due to his history and the player he is, but what these people seemed to forget was the shirt he was wearing, he wants the same as all of us he wants to win matches and get promotion, we can't say he's a bad player because we'd all be talking rubbish, because he is a very good player and in this division in a good team, he can really make a difference. I think we should all give him a chance, him and McCormack hi 5'ed when being subbed on Saturday, that's already a start, and Warnock saw something in him as a person when they met, after everything Warnock has ever said about him he gave him a chance, and I for one will! He's got the shirt, he's Leeds!! Support the team. MOT!

End of August .

How can someone disagree with a question? A valid question too. It's 31 August. A Friday I believe. Will be the usual cut-off time of 11pm I should imagine.

You're a football fan and you just asked that question? You should be ashamed.

Did RM and EHD shake hands or "high five" when they went off and came on respectively on Sat?

Just curious

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Yes they did, i also think this was done to show people that they are ok... as Poleon came on for Green... when Diouf played in greens position on Poleon in Maccas.

i was talking to Ben Parker last night in the winterseam in castleford and he said that the reason why he left was NOT ken bates fault. he said bates would ring the players regular and have banter and what not. the reason he told me he left was shaun harvey.
LeeLUFC

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Got nothing against Parker. Well he did stop us from beating Arsenal in the cup. But seriously who cares? Don't mind talking about ex players now and again but we do have more exciting and relevant things to discuss right now.

Agree7 Disagree2

This is total rubbish, he got released because he wasn't good enough, there was no ulterior motive.

Thanks for clearing that up Shaun. Lol.

I live in Bristol and couldnt make it to the Shrewsbury game, but by the response of everyone else, things are looking positive for the season, even if it was against a league 1 side. Warnock is a pro at getting players to gel with each other. Looking forward to a 30,000 + crowd for Wolves. Takeover or no takeover warnock can do it

I can't make Diouf haters change their mind but I would like to ask them to honestly answer - if one of our players got so wound up he spat on a Man Utd player would you hate him and boo him ?............talented footballers get very upset when things don't go their way...Eric Cantena, Max Gradel, Joey Barton (granted, the least, but still talented),Mario Baletelli, Maradona (Infamous Barcelona fight), I could go on and on...Diouf now plays for is, thinknabout that - since when the f**k did the type pf person that boos/booed him all of a sudden get on their moral highground ? Have those of you who boo/booed him ever had a fight ? Ever punched anyone ? Do you think it's cool to be a rebel and a bit of a hooligan ? Why do you hate Diouf ? Because he is a rebel and a bit of a hooligan ? Hmmmm {Ed007's Note - I hate him because he is a horrible, disgusting and vile human being. The only people who like him are supporters of whichever club are stupid enough to pay him at the time. I actually think sewer rat is out of order, sewer rats have been getting a bad press after that statement. TBH with you guys I thought your club was better than that/him and a bit more class about itself. For the first year, since all your money problems, I won't be hoping you get promoted this year if he is at EL, he will cause problems at your club, I guarantee that lads. Never mind just the spitting over the years, look at his behaviour towards Jamie Mackie.}

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Got to agree with the Ed, his behaviour towards Jamie Mackie as he lay on the floor with a broken leg was indefensable. He is a vile human being and I was glad when we got rid of him (i'm a blackburn fan now living in Leeds thats why i'm here). I'f he stuck to his undeniable skill playing football he would still be playing at a top club in the premiership but his temprament is not good enough for a back street bare knuckle boxing fight.

Agree3 Disagree3

As if you know anything about him at all apart from what has been glorified in the press ! Neil Warnock does not bulls*** - if he finds something about him that questioned his own judgement re: sewer rat etc then quite simple In Warnock We Trust - Warnock is a Leeds fan - that's how impressed he is with us - he knows what he is doing 30 years in the game, makes me laugh when knobs come on here who probably pack s*** in a warehouse for a living and think they know better than Neil Warnock lol

Agree5 Disagree1

Ed - do you know him in person then?

Agree4 Disagree0

Ed07 your out of order with your comments, think you should stick to your own page, we have been labelled with all sorts of trouble and hysteria for the last 30yrs and its comments like yours we don't appreciate - i accept he has bad press but look at Rooney, Terry, Barton, Bowyer, Woodgate, etc etc give him a chance - give Leeds a break..! we will judge him when he wears the white of LUFC

Original poster here: And why is a non Leeds fan allowed to edit and add comments to my post, therefore f**king with the agree/disagree button - I just want the Diouf booers to answer my question, not the editor of another team - cheek ! Look, I think Diouf has been a knob in the past, but he is humble enough to try for Leeds on no contract and a couple of grand a week - give him a chance for f***s sake - Lee Bowyer was a hero despite being one of the biggest c**ts on earth...eh ?

Agree9 Disagree1

I want our usual Ed to reply to this slander..! how can someone come on and say ''they hope Leeds don't get promoted''
because of Diouf - Diouf is Leeds now end of

Agree5 Disagree1

I kind of agree with the Blackburn fan, you can't excuse anyone who abuses a player who is lying on the floor with a broken leg, but as a Leeds fan i'm willing to give him a chance, although other clubs have done in the past and he's not repaid the fans faith. Undeniable skill but too often he loses his head.

Agree2 Disagree1

There is no way ED 007 should be saying things like that on a Leeds site - everyone is entitled to an opinion but for a ED to say he hopes we dont get promoted because of his opinion of one player is out of order

Agree3 Disagree1

I'm a Leeds fan through and through and if Diouf signs and tries for the badge, well I'll be a Diouf fan too. If Warnock can see good in him, so can I. I trust Warnock's judgement.
JT

Agree1 Disagree0

Since Diouf moved to Doncaster, he has been living in the Crown in Bawtry, which is owned by a guy i knew from my school days. I go there on a regular basis and he was telling me how down to earth he is and totally opposite to how he is on the football pitch. I will repeat what i said before, if the boy can be tamed then there is no better player in the league ability wise.

TeejLUFC

Agree4 Disagree0

ED 007 = Celtic fan. Diouf played for Rangers. He also spat at celtic fans when playing for Liverpool. Think you have your own agenda. Go back to your own board.

Agree0 Disagree1

Diouf couldn't score against Celtic and didn't exactly set the SPL on fire. Well past it and is brought in as nothing more than a pantomine villan to wind up the opposition. If that's what you think your club is about then go for it !!!!
