One good thing about being older like me I was privileged to have seen him play, great man, great captain, great player.

"Billy he was my hero!

That was "Billy don't be a hero" by paper lace!
Fortunately the real Billy WAS a hero. {Ed003's Note - You're showing your age lol}

{Ed013's Note - Thanks for your input on your first experiences of Leeds united. How about your worst experience? Was it a relegation, a hammering, a loss at a final or missing the bus to the game etc?}

Got to be Charlton and Peter Shirtcliffe. Never so down after a match. I was about 12 or 13 and yet it still feels like only a few years ago! there's been plenty more lows but that game stands out for me. But that's what its all about been LEEDS! MOT.

I have to say it was the preston defeat at Elland Road (6-4) was only my second visit to ER and I though we was in for a right treat! but that man Jon bloody Parkin!

Has to be European cup final, robbery doesn't begin to cover it. Closely followed by a long trip
and humiliating defeat at Colchester.

Seriously. Not sure this will be a popular post but watched leeds v chelsea about 15 yrs ago and had a 10 or 12 yr old sitting behind me and my wife hollering racist abuse at players. Swearing the lot. Dad sat next to him. Call me old fashioned but lead by example eh? My now wife was really impressed.

1973 FA Cup final v Sunderland, I was 10 and cried buckets that the mighty Leeds United had been beaten by what was supposed to be a very poor opposition, then more recently yet another trip to wembley in the play off final v Doncaster, I don't think we spoke more than 10 words in the car on the way back and that included a car jam for 55 minutes on the M1.

Losing 3 finals and not scoring in any!
I was there at Wembley - Lost 3-0 to Villa
I was there at Cardiff - Lost 3-0 to Watford
I was there at the new Wembley - Lost 1-0 to Doncaster
Maybe its time to stay at home when we get to another final!

Wembley 1-0 donny - gutted, but have to say the donny fans were superb, were were in amongst them.
leeds 0 -4 man utd, with Ian Rush and Mark Hateley upfront. On the plus side I was right behind the dugout and I got to laugh at Cantona when he fell over the ball and swore at me and my mate in French!

Got to be Cardiff in the cup, Sam Hamman stirring the Leeds fans up. I just think that was when Leeds started to slide.

Going to the one home game I get to every year and lose 3-0 to swindon with the barn door doing the most damage!

I went to see Leeds play Wolverhampton Wanderers a couple of days after winning the FA cup (a match which I saw stood in the Arsenal side of the ground). All we had to do was not lose. Set off from Leeds in a Wallace Arnold coach which didn't seem to be able to go over 50mph. By the time we arrived in Wolverhampton, it was too late to get in the ground and we spent the time wandering around the ground trying to see what was going on inside. We saw a tv TV van with its door open but all the cars around were covered with Leeds supporters. When we went back later the doors were closed but all the cars had caved in roofs. We lost 2-1 and lost the title. So we went to Wolves and back without seeing the game and losing the title. No other team than Leeds would have been expected to play such a vital game 2 days after an FA Cup final, but we all knew the football authorities hated us and wouldn't help us in any way. I will never forget that night.

Thought really hard about this one. Even remembering Wembly 73, Paris 75, and all the play-offs, the lowest I can remember being was against Leyton Orient at home in Div 1 a few years ago. Was a bitterly cold Oct or November night and the football was absolutely dire! Being well hacked off I left at half time and my Mrs was well surprised when I walked in before full time vowing " that's it, never again". I was at the next home game!

Leeds v Chelsea 1970 cup final replay, spent about an hour after the game kicking a ball against the fence, blubbing away.

Agree with post 2 up. I went to Wolves. In those days there were no tickets you just paid at the gate. I remember there were so many Leeds fans outside at 4pm they opened the gates early. By 6pm there must have been 30000 leeds fans inside. We outnumbered the wolves fans 2 to 1. Yes above poster dead right the FA would only make Leeds play 48 hours after cup final oh and play first 4 home games of a season more than 30 miles from ER oh and get fellow clubs to vote on a 15 point deduction oh and tell jimmy flloyd hassle bank he couldn't have Jimmy on his shirt whilst Man U had Jordi (Cruyff) and now have savio and flavio instead of the Silva and to cap it all Chicarito, not even Javier. Aaaaaahhhhh.

I must admit I wasn't there, not able to get tickets, but has to be Valencia in thesemi of the ucl!obviously gutted to loose, but the manor of it was criminal!2, yes 2 blatant hand ball goals.i have hated Valencia ever since, the cheating bloody bas@#ds!

Has to be the Sunderland FA Cup Final .
Travelled down from my Teesside home on the Kings Cross train, full of Makems, but good banter . After game I couldn't face going back on the last train with the Makems, so got a bed and breakfast near Kings Cross and came home the next day .
Then to make it even worse, the next weekend I was going to Majorca with my girlfriend from Newcastle airport and sat right behind me on the plane was Bobby Kerr the Sunderland Captain and some of his mates .
I avoided him like the plague in Majorca, only to be sat near him again on the plane home .
It was like a nightmare repeating itself ugh!

Of recent times I would say the 5-0 defeat by Blackpool where Paul Rubbergloves had his melt down was pretty bad. Also the 7-3 defeat by Forest, Gareth McCleary could have scored from 50 yards with his bell end on that night
Agree0
Disagree0
Haha brilliant post above regarding McCleary there has been a few recently (only 19 so not too many good memories), 6-1 Watford 1-0 Donny play off final - Watford 3-0 play off final, Preston 6-4, Forest 7-3, Blackpool 5-0 as mentioned above.
The Watford one in hindsight was the worst one due to what came afterwards, although at the time I must say the Donny one hurt more.

One of my worst ones, was League 1 Cheltnham at home, Tuesday night, rubbish crowd p***ing down with rain and we lost, the walk hiome was not fun at all

The Championship playoff final against Watford. 3-0 and the manner of the defeat in such a massive game, was worse to me than Premier League relegation itself. We lost our status as a big club in that match.

The most embarrassing loss has to be histon in the cup. I wasn't there but watched in pub full of and scousers in Chorley. Whites on and abuse flowing my way then all I said was "what's and scouse doing pairing up" they started abusing each other I pulled a fitty who was oringionally sat wi a table of 2 scouse and a blackburn fan then I married her so not all bad was gutted at the loss tho

So mcd say he's not leaving leeds for anybody. This guy is going to be a legend at this club. Sounds like he is honoured to be here which is a change for us to hear. Just hope other fans keep patience with the club in transition. He will take us back where we truly belong in the near future.

Mac has put an end to speculation of him leaving Leeds by stating he is 100% commited to Leed United, I hope this puts all the rubbish spouted on here about Poyet coming back, given proper backing there's no doubt he will get us promoted if not this year then next.

Just think most fans wanted di canio and he is nearlly as delinquent as ( warnock- nearlly! ) let's hope mcd fluffs the interview because from what I can see, he is the best of the shortlist. c'mon mcd, youll win more games and get more glory with leeds.
