Got a feeling certain bigger names will wish that they had takenthe job when we are back where we belong! And it won't be long I am pretty sure. Good, solid appointment. 910. Owners to invest a fair amount in the summer I think, otherwise why did they buy the club? To flip it? I doubt that. heres to better times ahead lads. MOT

Well said mate, we have a long way to go

Bates is still at the club. Some fans believe that Bates is still running things at the club and gfh are cover and Bates is still the real owner even though there's been some positive things like cheaper tickets.
Bates needs to be fully removed before everyone comes back

Agree3 Disagree5

Where's bates gone?

Agree2 Disagree2

Forget bates yes we don't like him but come on he's in the past all the fans need to stick together

Agree2 Disagree1

12 Apr 2013 10:06:29
When GFH took over, i'm sure we were told that Mr Bates was going to remain as chairman until end of the season, then take up an honorary role. Only then will GFH fully take the reins, appointing a new chairman (Haigh?). If I am wrong please forgive my ignorance on the subject. I just don't see why people have expected so much this soon?

I know we have had a lot of false dawns. I have nearly always felt good about new managers (except Vegetables, and Reid ). I have always said that this is the beginning of a new era for Leeds and we will be heading back in the PL where we belong. Unfortunately, I am usually wrong. But this time, there is a different feeling. something tells me that BM really is the right man. he can and will do it (with GFH doing their financial bit). the planets are lined up. the feng shui is right. there's a flock of swallows not just one for this summer. he knows what he's doing. he has an astute football brain. he is not a hoofballer. so buckle up my fellow Leeds fans for this is the dawn of the new era of BM, manager of LUFC, who will without doubt take us to the promised land ( and then probably get sacked after the first two months) of the EPL. The life of Brian begins now (tomorrow)!

Believable14 Unbelievable1

Brian is not the Messiah, he is a very naughty boy

But he may well be our own naughty boy

Get thee behind the team chaps

Why not try to get grayson back if the board would support him and him not have to sell his best players. Did very well with us and if he hadn't had to sell johnson beckford howson, all of who he brought to the club along with snodgrass becchio clayton mccormack. If we would have hung onto these players would be in prem!

Believable2 Unbelievable11

Out of above list grayson only signed clayton & maccormack
gary mac signed the others

Agree4 Disagree0

I think you'll find was it Blackwell who brought beckford to the club, howson was already coming through academy and I'mnot sure about Johnson that might have been either Blackwell or wise not sure.

Agree3 Disagree0

Johnson was a Dennis Wise signing, Macca didn't rate him and sent him out on loan. Just to clear that up :)

None of them were forced out, they all wanted top leave

Some Leeds fans p--s me right off, gfh sometimes can't win, I for one I would like to congratulate you on securing the services of someone who to me has a good record in the championship Brian McDermott. tell me you whingers who sit there saying I wanted poyet, I didn't, what has poyet done really he got Brighton promoted from league 1 big wow, Grayson did that. poyets record is no where near as good as mcdermotts and he would have come with a 2.5m compensation package, that money can now be spent on transfers. so let's get behind Brian and his staff, I'm sure he is the perfect man for our club, so good luck Brian and all you whingers go support someone else because we don't need ya.

Believable19 Unbelievable3

Well said about time we all got behind our team

Can't imagine he'll be that cheap. What were you expecting, Mourinho? If it's McDermott then I think that's probably the best we could have hoped for in our position. Been there, done it, plays good football. That's good enough for me so I'll be renewing.

I thought we had matt lucas' older brother, my 2nd choice would of been uncle fester, will settle for him. I can see GFH investing wisely now they have their choice at the helm.
Going to the weds game on sats, I predict a 3-1 victory and Somma coming on to score the third.

this summer we will probably see a big change to the squad again. players out

brown
Drury
Somma

McCormack these 3 will be where the funds
White for new players will
Byram come from. probably get around 13 mil
including extras

Believable0 Unbelievable8

Its rumoured Mac wants Radebe and Matteo as assistants, think this would unite the fans, whoever he gets we need to get behind him from the get go, just hope he's provided with funds for next year but has done great with little money in the past, is this why GFH wanted him?.

Agree10 Disagree1

Don't understand any of that

Agree5 Disagree1

Brown has recently signed a contract for next season.

Agree1 Disagree1

11 Apr 2013 17:30:03

im op. when I wrote the original post it didn't look like that on my screen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pleased someone else said they didn't understand that because I read it three times and am still not the wiser.

i have a much better feeling towards the appointment of brian mcdermott than I ever did about warnock as I nearlly cried seeing warnock at the club.
first job for mcd is to stay up

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Its easy with hindsight, I was pleased when colin came simply because of his record of promoted clubs, I knew it wouldn't be pretty stuff but thought its a sacrifice i'll have to pay to get promoted back to the big league, however, I didn't realise how dire it would be and paying bloody good money to watch overpaid pub footballers, but we move on cos' we are Leeds and that's what we do.

Agree4 Disagree2

I also posted from the start that I was concerned about Warnock's appointment. I said clearly' it will probably end in tears'. Unless we get a few more points it will! If Warnock ends up at Sheffield it will confirm all my conspiracy theories. He never liked Leeds - he gloated when we went down and his teams play boring football. Put him and Bates together and look what happened.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Apr 2013 13:41:12
I said that Bm would be a good appointment for Leeds as he goes about his business quietly and does it on the pitch which is what we all want for our club. Not a loud mouthed media magnet who talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. Anyway just watch how our lazy ar*ed squad pick their game up to try and keep their place next season. Pick me pick me Brian. So let's hope the owners back him with some money to spend on decent players and get us back to the promised land. MOT

Id love to see us get Rhodes off Blackburn if they go down and we stay up.
I also hope B McD can tempt Alex McArthy & Le Fondre over to Elland Road.
Le Fondre and Rhodes up front would be deadly!
Who else would you like to see at the club?

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Messi,
Ronaldo,
Xavi,
Iniesta

Titus Bramble. er NO

A guy from work just asked me this question. I feel a heavy burden on my shoulders please help me reply to this:
You're hit on the head & given a mysterious superpower - you can bring three players from your club's past to help them out now - who would you choose?
MOT

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Mark viduka, billy bremner and Nigel Martyn

Agree3 Disagree1

Gray (Need a winger)
Giles (Need a creative CM and would tutor Chris Dawson)
Radebe (Would sort out our defence and would tutor Tom Lees)

Agree3 Disagree0

I would go for a new spine
so its -

Big Jack the lad Charlton at the back

King Billy Bremner skippering through the middle

And finally Peter Lash Lorimer for his creativity and goals up top in what would be the diouf role we have today cutting in, shooting and crossing.

Agree3 Disagree0

David Batty, Gordon Strachan and Lucas Radebe

Agree1 Disagree1

Harvey, Reaney, Cooper, Bremner Radebe, Hunter, Lorimer, Clarke, Yeboah, Giles, Gray. sorry got carried away.

Agree2 Disagree0

Bremner is a given
Radebe is a chief
Yeboah is a crowdpleaser.

Agree3 Disagree0

Tony Yeboah
Vinny Jones
Billy Bremner

A hard no nonsense midfield pairing and a great entertaining poacher to partner McCormack and we'd be laughing.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeboah was a crowd pleaser but not that great in truth. Once defences learned to stop him shooting from distance he became a lot less effective. Legend, but he wouldn't be anywhere near my top 3. As for Batty, Strachan, Radebe, that poster must be at the younger end. We've had much better players than Strachan and Batty, great though they were.

Hard question but I think I'd go for John Charles, Allan Clarke and Billy Bremner. There's case for Eddie Gray, Johhny Giles, Lucas Radebe and Nigel Martyn.

Technically speaking David Seaman and Dennis Irwin were on our books too but were released young for not being good enough. Those two would grace any side. No doubt the less grown up on here will remind me who Irwin went on to play for, but that's their problem. Which brings me on to that other player. We might hate him but how many better footballers have played for us than Cantona?

Agree1 Disagree3

11 Apr 2013 18:47:34
alan clarke, vinny and chris kamara at least we would have some bottle

Tomas Brolin (A masterclass, sorry masterchef I meant)
MIchael Ricketts (Goal machine)
Roque Junior (god he was great)

They would surely fit right in now

God that geezer with John Charles must be knocking on a bit! As much as I love Radebe he's not in same class as Hunter or Woodgate.

Either Mcdermott IS NOT YET LEEDS MANaGER

Or

GFH/the club have made another clumsy muck up on their website Site with their lead article saying the interim management can inspire the team.

Either is possible. Bunch of clowns.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Actually it's Pearce that thought they could inspire the team?

Agree3 Disagree0

Web-site is the voice for the club and it's ownership.

While the comment is attributed to Pearce, the club PR folk aren't following Pearcey around waiting for his opinion on the management in place to stick on web-site.

It is daft to be saying on the web-site "these two can inspire.
" and then later insert an article next to it "ermmm. we've nearly got someone else. we'll tell you soon. "

Not very professional.

could move warnock into CH and play white at LB
Austin defensive midfielder and Diouf as playmaker in midfield
Thoughts anyone

Believable11 Unbelievable2

We are struggling in those positions at the moment. With that formation the two centre backs would have their hands full and White would be eaten alive. Austin has to play defensive midfield. I am not sure whether Diouff is fit yet. Green has to play. Tonge had a howler against Charlton last week (Warnock had just left). That leaves Norris and Dawson. Poleon could play up front with mcCormack. Morison has been awful the last few games. Doesn't look good, does it?

Agree4 Disagree1

Doesn't look good?, grow a pair and start supporting and not slagging

Agree1 Disagree6

Or you could grow a brain and accept that right now the team doesn't look good. That's got nothing to do with support, just a statement of fact. There is nothing courageous about mindless support and if you don't like discussion and banter then maybe you shouldn't go on banter sites. Just a thought.

Agree2 Disagree0

Lets be thankfull Brown isn't on the pitch, at least we SHOULD finish with 11 players.

Agree1 Disagree0

Austin isn't a holding midfielder he should be played further forward with the runs he likes to make he would create and score loads of goals

Agree2 Disagree2

To the person (?) who responded to my comment regarding Warnock at CB and White at LB. I was not slagging just giving a realistic assessment of the current state of play re injuries, suspensions and loss of form. I have supported Leeds for probably a lot longer than you and rarely miss any games - I don't need any lectures on support. Thanks anyway.

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Apr 2013 10:23:51
(Ed this is for the banter page!)

If I were even more cynical than I actually am I might believe Neil Warnock had an ulterior motive regarding Sheff Utd?

First he lends them Poleon.

Secondly he jumps ship BEFORE knowing we can't actually be promoted (or relegated!)

Danny Wilson is sacked

And now who's in the frame for the managers job?

Talk about timing. {Ed013's Note - If I was a betting man I would say he is on the way to Sheffield, on another note Brian McDermott is the new manager of Leeds United}

Believable10 Unbelievable0

11 Apr 2013 09:05:42
We are struggling filling centre half position on Sat, why not give Monty Gimpel a chance along side Pearsey. Or at least have him on the bench.
Highly rated at Leeds surely he deserves a chance.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Not a bad idea, but it is a pivotal part of the season where a few mistakes could cost our place in the division

Agree2 Disagree0

Maybe a place on the bench. The game is crtical and it would be unfair and unsafe to put him in from the start.

Agree0 Disagree0

"it is a pivotal part of the season where a few mistakes could cost our place in the division"

So we leave it up to the players that have put us 'in that place' then do we?

Brian McDermott to be confirmed as manager. Great choice in my opinion. I would have had Poyet in ideal world but never going to happen. BMcD good choice for following reasons-

1. His record- playoff final and a storming run to finish champions in Championship last year. Also did ok in Prem given financial constraints.

2. Intelligent thinking manager. Improves teams tactically and technically. His teams are consistent.

3. Renowned for getting the best out players by trusting them, respecting them and treating them like adults. The result is players respond to that trust- in response to this method players are ( and he demands) professionalism and commitment. Players respect him. Unlike NW blaming players all the time.

4. Also intelligent in terms of thinking about management in a wider 'context' 'thinking outside the box'. He is renowned for looking at other companies and industries to see how to potentially improve and get best out of people.

5. He has a knack of unearthing players at a reasonable cost. As Reading chief scout he identified Shane Long and Kevin Doyle, combined cost about £80k! We need that. Also does his homework on players personality and desire.

6. Tactically a more modern manager than NW and more flexible. Not afraid to go direct but not hoof ball like NW.

7. He has a bit of class and dignity. Quite frankly more likable than NW and certainly full of s##*! That will make a change after NWs embarrassing, damaging and delusional post match rants.

8. He is available now- that's necessary given the potential danger of relegation. The ship needs a captain. Plus he can bed in, implement his ideas and assess the squad for next season.

9. He won't cost the earth. Important seeing as though GFH might not be able to afford a Gregs pasty.

Good appointment.

Believable22 Unbelievable0

Good post mcdermott will be the right man for leeds i'm sure given time, conducts himself in the right manner a proper football manager unlike warnock.
