No game this weekend and Mick will be running his third marathon but not in my beloved shell suit (think more 118 man style). I'm doing cold turkey tomorrow and won't be holed up in spoons from 11am which sucks. Any of you lads and lasses on here do any sport apart from the obvious football which I used to play until I got too old. Oh yeah I'm not counting darts MartynG lol!

Play a lot of snooker MM but it's not the same since king alex died just like Saturdays aren't the same with no footy! Do you run to the bar as well?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im working up to half marathon this year. Gave up smoking last year. Boy, that was hard. U serious bout marathon mick? that's awesome if you are. Alex dead is he?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi ausman, yes this will be my third full marathon. It's a bit cross country and a mud bath! Good luck with your half. Great buzz when you've completed your first. All the best

Degsy, good shout with snooker. Remember Bill Werbenuck (spelling!)? 20 pints over a long game. One word. Legend! Also wore some pretty nifty beige Farrahs, so not only a beer monster but also a fashion icon for the larger gentleman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good stuff Andy. That must be knackering. respect to the 63 year old in your group.

Good stuff andy. Wish I was there!
Mick
I get big buzz from every fun run I do. Over 52 now and only started last year. Marathon maybe beyond these lungs!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh respect to the 63yr old but you still have to kick him now & again he's a soft southerner lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a southerner and let's see what u northern girlies are doing at 63 U will prob be walking your staffy on you're zimmer. Not kicking a ball round with youngsters!

You've got to love Alf Inge Haaland 'what would you do if you bumped into Roy Keane now?' 'Run'!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's reassuring that in two months time, Poundland will be selling by one copy of the autobiography and get one free!

coincidentlly, when that cold sets in, we will be looking for anything that is worthless to throw on an open fire in order to keep warm.

He is not worthy to lace Alfi's boots

Agree0 Disagree0

With that ridiculous beard he looks a dead ringer for Saddam Hussein but not as popular

Looking at England under 21 squad tonight on paper there is a lot of talented young players up and coming I don't know the big thing about there is no English talent there is loads of it! Plus didn't they win he European championship? I just don't understand how they can keep banging on about lack of talent. just a debate people if they would like to point out how many unknown talents that are lesser known?

Aidy White is close to a return. I honestly had forgotten about him, but this may be his time to step up.

I know a lot don't rate him, but I don't think he has been given a fair chance at a run of games (I may be wrong and no doubt will soon be corrected).

It will also give us a natural left sided player with pace.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry d.s. but I am One of those who do not rate White. He has had plenty of opportunities to tie down a place but he is a jack of all trades master of none. No point having pace if you are incapable of using it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to admit
Not good enough for this team
Shame though

His level is League One. Pace yes but insufficient class to progress higher up. This is manifested in the fact that no manager coach even the player knows what his best position is. That said, on his low wage, I would keep him til contract runs out at end of season and use him as a sub. He would give our bench more balanced look.

morison chomping at the bit well does he mean were good now so can i play well your a donkey lazy never chase the ball even if 5ft away most fans don't want you you say not leaving yes 30k a week no wonder and noboby else would pay you that so a hanger on money grabber so go go go go go go

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Re White, Morrison, Hunt and players like them etc.

All I can say is that I am judging them by their performances, not them as people. So they might say they are keen/chomping at bit and Redders may say hunt is great to have around but it must be about what they bring to the team surely.

Morrison can't jump for a big lad (very odd) and will never score more than the odd goal, ain't quick and has average skills so as a forward he is never going to add value to team.

Hunt tries for sure but again won't score/hasn't (well nice goal for U21's) for us and had lots of chances. runs around a lot but again what does he add as a fwd? not much.

Aidy white for me has had a lot of chances and has missed the boat with us, we should have better options, he has little end product out wide so again what does he really add?

I'm sure they are nice guys but I am not interested in that so ideally they should be moved on as/when contract ends or before if we can sub a loan deal for them, would be better for them as well to play football you would think.

Looking forward to next 2 games, if we get 4 points that would be a result but will be happy if I can see a plan/way/style of play we are working towards, I could see that at the Wendies match but won't judge until I see a few more games under new Mr M coach

upupandaway you made me spit my sandwich out ha ha thanks for the laugh

Agree0 Disagree0

30k a week??
You want to look into things more closely before you start ranting about people's wages bud!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy
We would never have a clue what wages the players were on would we - or is it published in the accounts?
I certainly wouldn't believe what I read in the press

Agree0 Disagree0

Speedy
MC said the highest earner was on 25k and everyone jumped on hunts back, if you remember back to April it was common knowledge.

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy
I have trouble remembering what I had for tea, but ta for the reminder :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually, on the subject of my bad memory. What was the european match 1000 years ago when there was nearly a riot when we were robbed by the oppositions offside goal where their player was something like 50 yards offside - the only player in our half when pass was made? Grateful for anyone who can tell me

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Spartacus }

Speedy
You on about semi-final against bayern Munich??
scored a 35yd screamer and they gave someone offside that was 25yds from goal.
We ended up losing 2-0 I think but that was many moons ago ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the try Andy, but no it wasn't this game, but it was many moons ago. It was an offside goal the opposition scored. We were attacking at Kop end. They had 1 player upfield, about 10 yards into our half. They hoofed the ball up to him and he ran on and scored at Scratching Shed end. Was nearly a riot

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh speedy I read your question whilst stuck in traffic and miss-read it sorry, what year are we talking roughly?

Not that it will help mind lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Dunno the year, but probs 30 or so years ago

Well finally got to watch under 21's thrash Doncaster on LUTV.
Obviously great performance. There's clearly a great bond between the payers (NR's influence no doubt), and some very exciting future prospects here, who are very very close to being ready for first team. Adryan showed some great touches, and he will bring something different when he plays for first team, but may not set the world alight, so let's not put too much pressure on him. Chris Dawson looks ready. Special praise for Noel Hunt who played great, but more importantly gave a good lead to the younger players, and it was very clear they think a lot of him, so he may have a job to do for us yet

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Speedy
Redders thanked Hunt after the game and he also praised him on a few sites, he said he helps ALL the younger players and he is a true honest genuine guy who's attitude, proffesionalism and hard work should be looked upon by certain fellow proffesionals.
If he scored a few goals early on at Leeds we might have seen a different hunt to the one we've been watching!!

Agree0 Disagree0

True Andy, true

Agree0 Disagree0

Future coach I reckon
At least he tries for his $.
More than. Morrison. Sharp etc

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit unfair on Sharpe

Agree0 Disagree0

Very harsh on sharpe I hope these people didn't cheer his goal against brough or the rest of the goals he will score given the chance

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree BW. I like Sharpe and think he's a good lad for us. He will always give 100% when he plays

Agree0 Disagree0

BW
For some reason I've never rated Sharpe, yes he scores a few goals and I think if he puts his mind to it could be a top striker (BUT) i'd rather someone who runs defenders into the ground, comes off the pitch wet threw and says I gave my all (something Sharpe never does)

Wish we could find a Shearer pure class and always gave everytihng.
