i love ex-players being at the club but I am astonished that gray etc were getting paid. what was their job title? and we can get rid of 70 staff! how many have we got! as my good friend jeff says "italians do it better" (except in the opening game of a world cup campaign)
Eddie Gray does all the live commentary on LUTV with Thom Kirwin so I'd expect him to be paid for that. The same goes for Matteo - he does the Monday Club on LUTV and other public appearances.
Lorimer on the other hand doesn't do much for us. He writes more for the YEP and I recall urged us to get behind Bates. i'd hope YEP are paying him rather than us as he isn't a club director anymore
Although I agree with you on the ex-players comment I think youve been brainwashed regarding ----

not a rumour but that english left back that edurado cellino said we've signed, could it be cresswell from ipswich in a swap plus us paying then with paul green? I sure hope so as he looks real good in this league!

Hi ed 13 and 03 and rest does anyone know for sure where our pre season games will take us this year? Has any venues or dates been set as yet ( yes I know it's early yet ) but I've got to put my £1 pocket money away to make sure I can afford to go before THE EX MRS WINGY sticks her long talons into me lol

WOW. Edoardo on twitter giving everyone answers! At last, somebody in the know, telling the fans what is happening, makes a nice change. just hopes it for real!
Fan interaction is what its all about, however like he says, Matteo, Gray, Lorimer are getting paid, and that money in a championship club should be invested elsewhere. They should be doing it for free really, if they LOVE the club, a directors box and a free lunch is all they should get in all honesty.
Hoping everyone supports them and doesn't start getting riled up about them sacking a few ole boys, we remember them for all they did, but we need to invest and the Cellinos know what there doing.

Daily Star reporting that Lorrimer, Gray and Matteo will be some of the people being sacked by Celino.I know its the Star and maybe rubbish, but what would people think to this.I wouldn't be too bothered about Matteo and Lorrimer but would be sad to see Eddie go.
I agree it's sad to let them go, but we need to cut costs, would we not be better off saving the money and using it elsewhere!

Agree completely California. The fans won't like it if he gets rid of Gray. Lorro speaks a lot of rubbish and Matteo was a good player nice guy but not a legend. MC can expect a backlash if he gets rid of Gray.
These guys are on big money and maybe it's a unneeded outgoing that they could have done for love not money. I think everyone is up for the chop but maybe sacking gray is a little stupid but rest can go for me.

I`m not `furious` as the RATS reports, Lorimer was a great player but lost my respect when he cosied so far up to Bates. Dom Matteo, canny bloke, but hmmm. Eddie Gray, again great player for leeds, but I have heard he is`nt so popular in some quarters behind the scenes at ER. This was from a source within the club who descibed Gray as a nasty piece of work.
Leeds have come to Northumberland in past pre-seasons to play Blyth Spartans, a chance to speak to `staff` briefly.
Personally for me nobody deserves a job for life. Yes Gray has been a stalwart for Leeds but to move forward you can't look back. Swing that axe MC no point in sentiment this is business.

Daily bra headline states LU fans are furious about this. I like most aren't furious, people & jobs come and go, fact of life. I would be disappointed about Gray as he is the true legend of the 3.
Most LU fans know we need one hell of a overhaul from top to bottom, hope MC is the man to do this.

We need to preserve our legends and they should always be around the club as an inspiration to the current team, but Cellino is a business man and he's looking at how he can bring stability back to our great club, unlike Bates who just grabbed every opportunity to line his pockets, so I think we need to let him get on with it! Eddie Gray will always love the club regardless of whether he's on the pay roll or not.

Get Gray back on the coaching staff. I didn't realise ambassadors got paid! No sentiment, there are better and more important things to spend the money on.
Gray and Lorimer have both given great service to our club over the years, but, if we can't afford to employ them then they have to go. It is more important to work within a budget for the benefit of Leeds United than anyone else, including the dross that need to go ASAP!

What do we want?
(A) A successful football club financed correctly and with genuine potential to move forward
(B) A football club constantly under achieving, basically being bleed to death (remember we were talking of administration)
We all appreciate our former players efforts and love to see them around ER, but we need to invest in the future and it's quite clear that we can't afford to do both
