Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

10 Aug 2014 22:02:56
Sharp could go for free. Or is it just a statement aimed at Leeds to sweeten a deal for young Sam?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We can do better than Sharp. Why can't we get one of their better players rather than signing the unwanted ones as per usual

Agree0 Disagree0

Note to the Hock
Ian Holloway says Leeds played better when Matt Smith came on as he is a real handful.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe trying to flatter him in to moving there. Although they beat us, will be a backward step. We'll get it right eventually I am sure even though some people have us relegated after one game ffs!

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

Mad mick if you were there you would also have us relgated. your not that mad.

The whole club has two reconised center halves and one of them is wooten, we have the worst manager in the league (whole league not just championship) his record shows that. The display was so poor that I am quite confident that at best we will finish 20th as a few other teams are also really poor. All our signings keep falling through and last year the man who kept us up now wears a fulham shirt. one game may be all that is played but you have to be mad not to see the writing on the wall

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2014 11:47:59
got to agree with you there mate, and yes I was at game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comment Bermondsey but I don't agree. It's a long season and every team will lose games. I wonder what the Crystal Palace fans were thinking in 202/13 season when they lost their first three games only to end the season as play-off winners! I am not comparing us to Palace just making a point. Fortune and form change rapidly in football.

Hockaday may be out of his depth with a poor team selection and tactics that compared to last seasons dross. This showed little understanding of our weaknesses and what it needs to compete in this league, however the buck stops with Cellino. If he as shrewd as people claim then he will bring in 4 quality players within the next couple of weeks, 2 centre defenders, a dominant midfielder and a striker. The problem is I don't think he will because he is not prepared to pay extra for quality as it seems that the current crops issue has been that they have not been coached properly. Cellino have the couridge of your convictions and give Hockaday some quality to work with.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don`t know if quality players would want to play under a unproven coach.
Young players want to learn from the coach and older players need respect for the coach. Sorry and I hope I am wrong but quality players will not want to come to us at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice sentiment Billy but don't you think that not paying the going rate is something to do with us not securing quality?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2014 00:08:48
NottsWhite, think we are paying the going rate otherwise the clubs would not announce the deal. It's the agent getting greedy and wise once they realize the buying club is getting player on the cheap and they want a bigger cut. Agents own players these days and they often determine the destination of the transfer. Having said that, if the amount in question was quarter mill or less I'd have paid the extra for Sorensen if I were Cellino.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does nobody seem to think we need winger(s) still? At the moment out best striker is smith who needs crosses-we not had a winger of even average quality since snoddy

Agree0 Disagree0

We have been lacking width and pace since Gradel departed.

Agree0 Disagree0

George, I am not advocating getting ripped off, you sometimes have to pay that little extra to get quality. Also how do you know that the agents changed the terms? We only have Cellino's word for that. It could be feasible that he tried to negotiate a new deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2014 08:50:31
yes wotton is not comanding and he was one we saw on kings x train with booze so a piss head not a football player and that was st8 after game

Agree0 Disagree0

"Cellino have the couridge of your convictions and give Hockaday some quality to work with."

I think (hope) you meant to say:

Cellino have the courage of your convictions and give the players a coach that has a clue to work with.

Most of the starting 11 on saturday were the same players that did little last season, why are they going to be any better, especially when you have sold the one player who scored most of the goals?

Much as I think McCormack will be found out at Fulham (already is being) I think the rest of the team have nothing more to offer than last season, despite the so called fitness regimes and player bonding, zzzzzzzzz

Agree0 Disagree0

No Leeds, as I said if Cellino thinks that Hockaday is the right man then back him. Your statement makes no sense. I think that the coach is not good enough but Cellino needs to stand by that and bring in quality irrelevant of who the coach is

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2014 19:56:48
Just watched the Football league show and just got frustrated watching players that I believe we could afford and were linked to previously, playing well for their new teams, for example Callum Wilson getting two goals for Bournemouth, Cyrus Christie making goals for Derby and many others. I now hear Chris Wood is going to Wolves. We could have afforded the wages and Transfer fees for all three and still would have had money left from the RM sale.

Getting players from Italy is fine if they are good enough, but I believe we have missed out on real quality in the English leagues that would have made us much stronger, yet still buying young players that are only going to get better which seems to be MCs transfer policy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mark
Don't know enough about the players you've commented on but it's STRANGE you picked 3, players that had a good start on day 1, were we ever linked with these unknown stars?

Agree0 Disagree0

I am from the coventry area and we were linked to both Cov players especially Wilson only picked them out because of that. Wood was linked as recently as in the last week and numerous times before.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2014 00:11:36
Andy, we bid for Wood under Warnock when Becchio was sold. We matched Leicester's bid but could not match the wages they offered him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mark. If I mention a players name on here does that mean we are linked with him? Get a grip

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr P what do you mean get a grip, I never said it was linked on Leeds Rumours, I just we were linked to them because they were good players performing in a poor team and were deemed to be going places and available for transfer, and at the right age, and players we should have been looking at, we did not sign them but for me lesser clubs did and they will reap the rewards I believe as they develop. I think next time read the post properly and be aware of previous links to the players, and the players themselves before making comments

Magath has slammed Leeds for McCormacks level of fitness - Sorry Felix that's not our problem Fulham paid the money and conducted the medical - tough s**t

My concern is that he probably is unfit in comparison and the others left here may be at the same level judging by yesterday's lack of performance/effort

Also concerned about rumours involving Becchio and Ranger - we need to surely be aiming higher (not slaying Becchio but his time has come and gone)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2014 22:16:48
I don't know if Becchio can find the form he had when he left but if we embrace him then he will put in a shift and maybe lead by example. Those young lads need a leader and a taste of victory. Let's get behind em at ER and show the new boys what playing for leeds is all about. The Hock knows the basics of football and I am not sure what that team sheet was about on Saturday but maybe there was method in his madness - MC must push the purchase of new players through other wise we completely !!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

"Those young lads need a leader and a taste of victory."

Those young lads actually need to be put on the pitch, otherwise they will get neither.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2014 19:02:23
Well the team all the bookies believe is a cast iron certainty for relegation beat us yesterday. I would like to analyse: Can't comment on the goalie as we have not really seen him to judge. The back four was, apart from Lees, the back four that played and let in more than 70 goals last season. Note: Sheff. Wed kept a clean sheet yesterday. The midfield was, apart from Mowett, basically the same totally ineffective midfield that played most of last season. The whole forward line was substituted. Was this because they are not good enough (in Hunt's case yes) or was it a total lack of support/supply from the midfield. Huckleberry said he couldn't criticise anybody for lack of effort. Well I could get 11 players from the Leeds Sunday League who would give 110% effort but clearly they would not be good enough. If the players we have signed or will sign are not significantly better than the rubbish that played then we are in deep trouble. Knowing the Chairman's record I would say that Huckleberry will be gone by the end of September. In fact bad results against Accrington and Middlesborough he could be gone by next weekend. Obviously if a young academy product like Byram wants to leave there is something wrong at the club. I sincerely hope I am wrong but unless we can get a proven British manager like Malcky Mackay or Neil Lennon I can see a season of gloom.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2014 19:21:00
be another smart price manager/coach after this one gone.cellino won't pay wages/transfer fee for players.unless he changes and brings in some quality players we are stuffed.that ain't been negative its plain for anyone to see.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2014 18:49:15
Think Hockaday will be Hockaway before the end of August, September latest.

The guy really doesn't have a clue, if we had played against a decent team we would have been slaughtered yesterday.

I am really optimistic about this season, but unless we get someone to steer the ship we are going to be fighting relegation from day one.

FFS get a grip Cellino?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2014 18:05:28
Why don't leeds make a bid for Chris Wood wolves have and it bin accepted he's 22 and just the sort of player we need

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2014 18:14:57
i am afraid its because there is a transfer fee and wages, agree he would be a great addition. we probably get the 1 man crime wave otherwise known as nile ranger.sad and predictable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he's not Italian.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2014 20:43:39
We've signed the same amount of English players as Italian (2), so this myth of only signing Italians is really grating.

See quite a bit of championship on telly over the weekend, and it's shown how poor Millwall are. Oh dear :(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2014 16:28:45
I know Hunt is poor but it's not just him, Austin is a pub player who just runs around a lot, Murphy keeps promising but cannot deliver, Wooton is just woeful for an ex Premier club player, so let's not just pick on Hunt he tries his best but he is just useless.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wootton was never a premier league player, just got suckered in to the fact that he had played for Manchester United and assumed he must have quality which unfortunately he did not

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2014 14:34:18
I am if full support of the revolution and believe in Cellino but yesterday's team selection baffled everyone I think. It would suggest Morison didn't want to play against Millwall & maybe Smith is on his way out. Otherwise really why would Hunt be starting? In a way it might make Cellino see we now need a couple of real QUALITY buys now. I hope so! MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When MC came in he said he was selling a Fiat and buying a Farrari. Well you know its going to cost money to race one so you don't run it on Fiat500 parts & budget! So come on MC let's get some quality in to make this machine run competitivel

hope cellino fines morison a weeks ( make that a months) wages for swinging the lead, not wanting to play against old club. ( thigh strain my a@@e)
Bet rossmc doesn't suffer with that problem when he comes to leeds.
Also hock playing hunt over poleon, and not starting with smith?! at the moment our top scorer from last season, Hock out of his depth in championship, will be sacked if we lose 3 more games.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't you mean when we lose 3 more games.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2014 12:01:31
I really don't get it? Byram quoted as saying he wants to leave. so we play him? Hunt is so bad he would just about get regular football in league 1 team. so we play him, Morison was playing I ok in pre season, a few goals, but we don't play him!( I know they are saying he is injured, but I don't).
The whole team is shocking, I fear for us unless there is a change in personnel quick!
But who would want to join our circus at the moment!

Ok time for a reality check. The jury is still out on DH as to his ability to coach our team, but cut him some slack for pity's sake.
He's been given a new set of players to coach who don't know each other or their comparative strengths and weaknesses. It will take time for them to gel especially when recruitment is on-going according to MC.
He trained the team all week with Sorensen and Bianchi both of whom he thought would play. Bianchi was sorely missed yesterday and Sorenson would have been a great addition to the team.
I'm not kissing DH's backside but he needs time to get the best out of this squad and he needs additions quickly.
Yesterday, too many players froze or under-performed in a very hostile atmosphere. It's a learning curve for them too.
Trouble is MC is not renowned for his patience and neither are some of our fans. I've heard the cry that we've been patient long enough and to some extent that is true, but did we really stand a chance under Bates/GFH? MC is the only owner we've had with the balls to grab hold of our club and shake it by it's roots. it badly needed it and I will support him, DH and the team whatever the results' I know they need time. MOT Speedo4Eva.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hockaday is plainly out of his depth, wake up and realise it.

He has not got a clue how to get Leeds United into the premiership.

Thank god it will cost peanuts to get shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man you must be some kind of expert realising somebody is out of their depth after one game in charge. Tell me do you think Mourinho would do better.
give the guy a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hockaday has been in charge for more than one game, or have you totally missed pre-season?

This guy has no experience, no history and no clue.

10 Aug 2014 11:11:47
Sorry to cover old ground but I am completely confused and bewildered! Ok, everyday is a school day. So what do we take from yesterday:

1. Team selection - use the players that have been brought in.
2. Make those who do not put in a shift work for a place.
3. Don't select Hunt.

What do we do about it?

1. Watch the Dundee match and then the Millwall game - play spot the difference!
2. Train, motivate and enthuse!
3. Don't select Hunt!

I know it's not just Hunt but he is getting both barrels anyway!

Can't do another season having the **** ripped out of my team - getting beyond a joke! Will change my user name to depressed until things change!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For me we MUST go back to 442 diamond with Morrison up top with Doukara and Bianchi pulling the strings in midfield. Would start Benedicic as the number 10 instead of Tonge or Murphy also.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just get rid of hunt, it;s obvious?

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds
Love your posts mate but get a grip, get rid of hunt and ALL our problems are solved.
Wake up and stop pointing at a scapegoat.

Andy, I am not looking at Hunt as a scapegoat nor did I say it would solve all our problems, but he has done nothing positive for Leeds United since he arrived?

Agree0 Disagree0

end of day we are saying same thing warnock tonge morison hunt but mc said he likes two of them why cause they on 30k a week so wants them to earn they money and I guess but they finished and were wasting money on these players which leave less money for the player he want to bring in
it can only get better . and a 90k a year coach that says how bad he is who would get paid that to be in charge at leeds all would say NO hockaday said yes his best wage ever I guess

Agree0 Disagree0

"it can only get better"

You want a bet on that? Believe me it can get a lot worse than this, look where Luton ended up?

Stomach turned seeing the starting XI.
Byram scared of injury and losing that big move.

Wootton deemed at Man U. Development a worse centre back than a Phil Jones!

Pearce, honest lad but would not command a fee.

Warnock, run himself into the ground at Villa so they got rid.

Austin, no football brain, needs helping through by the midfield trio, not the other way round.

Tonge, will do a job but still being asked to.

Hunt, released by Adkins when he realised that he was football's only defensive attacker. Nuisance value only.

MURPHY is bits and pieces and would be happy to come off the bench. On his way out after bottling it at Millwall. Oh, and Morison absent, gutted as well as losing his spine.

Cellino must shoulder the blame that we started this season where we left last.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2014 10:23:47
Dr.t that post is absolute spot on I could not agree more and your right the book does lie at cellinios door . If he doesn't get 4 quality players in and fast we will be in the bottom 5 / 6 .

Agree0 Disagree0

If I remember rightly we finished last season with a win against birmingham and a draw against a very strong derby county team, seasons just kicked off, transfer window still open and all the doom merchants resigned to relegation, a few seasons ago norwich kicked off their season conceding 7 goals and still got promoted, for gods sake give them a chance, I mean a real chance before judging, over and out.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2014 11:18:18
Come on guys this was the Hock playing it safe with championship? players. Agree team choice was crap. Midfield lacked playmaker and Hunt up front was a waste of time which Hock should have known if he watched any of his games last season. Poleon, Doukara and Smith looked better up front and having watched Mcdaid a bit I reckon he could step up now and get rid of Hunt and Morrison. Murphy and Austin are not good enough. Mowatt and Dawson are better. but we still need another midfielder, Van the man is still young but if he is as good as they say why was he not playing. Defence needs sorting, Wotton poor, Pearce adequate but needs a good partner, Warnock past his sell by date. Byram was somewhere else and if he can't fire himself up for the white shirt then get the 5 mill and get two defenders who want to play. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2014 11:23:31
i must be a "doom and gloom merchant".was at game yesterday it was as predictable as it was dire,a poor team from last year obviously weaker as no replacement for ross.byram be gone soon maybe smith, even half decent players we can't sign on loan deals .i don't expect to be spending millions but this penny pinching has gone overboard.if quality is not added in defence, midfield and up front,we be lucky to escape relegation.clueless inept performance from a very very poor team,i won't bother mentioning the "head coach".

Agree0 Disagree0

GazY, I applaud your optimism and can I have a pair of your rose tinted glasses. The truth of it is the team is no better than last season and Cellino needs to understand this rebuilding can't be done on the cheap. We have had more player turn us down than we have signed. Can't see things improving before next weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gazy don't you think wootton, Austin, tonge, hunt and Warnock have had there chance?

Agree0 Disagree0

'for gods sake give them a chance, I mean a real chance before judging, over and out.'

until we plat young players well never know but a mix would be good or bring in one or two i'd rather we lose fighting and giving your all rather than lie down and die perhaps the players should read what's on here it could give them th kick up the backside they need

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy one big difference between clough and the current guy in our dugout. Clough had a proven track record, before and after leeds. Please remember all hockaday has done in 56 years is get a none league team with the biggest budget nearly religated year after year. clough by that age had league trophies and a couple of euro cups. Slight difference. reputation and respect is earned what has hockaday done to earn our respect. He has to prove me wrong not the other way round. For all we know I am a better manager i'm 31 and while I have done nothing in the game I have not messed no where near as much as him. His leeds team played just how I expected them to useless we were better in league one by miles that team would tear us apart

Disastrous if we lose Byram. I wasn't too bothered about RMC as there are many good strikers, but defenders of the age & quality of Sam Byram are a true asset and difficult to replace.
If we can't keep our best players how are we expected to attract good replacements.
If Hockaday is the reason for Sam's unrest, the answer is simple.

Fresh start, new season and we play the same defence and midfield as last season with Noal hunt. We get rid of over 10 players and bring in 7 or 8, what was the point? Amazed by the team selection, it beggers belief. How many chances do they get?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Coach(manager) and players brought in are unproven at this Level, combined with some of the players that we have , and some of them struggled in the Championship last season, we are in for a bumpy ride. Chris Burkes goal yesterday was a prime example of the type of free players we should have been signing.

It's going to be a long season. Millwall are favourites for relegation but made us look like a pub team. This squad is not good enough and we will struggle to compete. Hockaday is way, way out of his depth. Only one game but the signs are there. We will also lose Byram this week to make matters worse.
