I am an owl and i have 2 very good friends who are leeds season ticket holders and yes there is banter about yourkshire rivalry, But i always say i would like them to do well for them as they go home and away as i do! We were in the same position as leeds for many years with Richards running our club into the ground but we have a saviour in Milan who we owe our club to. He might not be a Abromovich at chelsea but he has the club on on even keel and are in profit for the first time in years and years. We will never be like man city or chelsea and neither will leeds. All you need is a man like Milan to come in with a football head who loves the team and not after makeing casinos and hotels and thinking about his back pocket like bates and im sure theres a man out there like that for leeds. Dont pin your hopes and dreams on a Billionaire buying and pumping millions into the team. We have not spent loads but have got some very good players in and i realy belive we will be top 6 finish this season. Hand on heart i do hope leeds find your milan and wish you luck for the comeing season and a great atmosphere at elland road and hillsbrough.

i truly believe the takeover is still on. if bates signed a confindentialality agreement then he couldnt name the buyers to the press. so the only leerage he has is the exclusivity period to use to get what he wants. it appears the health rumurs might be true and he is looking for the last big pay out. all leeds fans need to be pateint and stick behind the team. not listen to members of the fans and lust and protest. that is not what makes us the best fans it the fact we stick by the team no matter if we are playing in the chamions league or league 1. and just think which looks better to new owners? just a thought. toofang90

Listening to Gary Cooper's interview about the takeover and it seems that there is a glimmer of hope. It appeared from the video that the prospective owners contacted LUST saying the deal had or was close to falling through. This then prompt a message from OS saying that the deal had not totally collapsed and that the exclusivity period had ended. It seems that the prospective owners are using LUST as a pawn to force the hand of bates because they feel the deal is going no were and they want progress. It seems that talks are still on going between both parties. Whatever the outcome, we are not Ken Bates, we are not a middle eastern consortium, we are Leeds United. Get behind the boys tomorrow and march on together.

As we understand it, the club and the buyers are now speaking again. Talks have resumed, and we are hoping – we believe – that a deal can still be done.

We speak to an intermediary from the consortium. We speak to him on a regular basis.

I think the buyers have always been very keen to push this deal through. … They have been increasing the pressure on the club and those involved over the past few weeks to push this through and complete the deal. I think the deal stalled a couple of weeks ago.

Given the information that we got yesterday morning, that the buyers believed that the deal was dead, the club had cast their last dice, and there was nothing left to be said, the course of events yesterday afternoon was quite frenetic. Information was coming backwards and forwards suggesting the deal could perhaps still be salvaged, and the club’s statement verified this later in the afternoon.

We’re very pleased [that talks are ongoing]. That’s very positive.

The deal, as we believe it, has been on the table now for 2-3 months. Due Diligence was finished I think some time ago. It would have been preferential for us as fans to be talking about the marque signings that we know Neil Warnock would have liked to have been made.

We’re on the eve of the kickoff of our competitive season. And while Mr Warnock’s had the chance to bring in 10 new players to the squad, and probably improve the squad, and we’ll be very supportive of them, I don’t think he’s had the chance to bring in the quality that he would’ve liked to have done, and I’m sure he would like two or three more players to add to that. But under the current owners we don’t have the money.

What about Ken Bates? His position has got to be untenable, surely?

… You would think that. Look, I’ve never been foolish enough to try and second guess Mr. Bates. He is his own man and he’ll make his own decisions and do his own thing. But the club statements all the way through the summer have kept reiterrating that they’re going to do the best thing for Leeds United.

If that’s the case, and given what’s happened in the last 48 hours, I would ask a question of Mr Bates, and that’s: If you’re going to do the best thing for Leeds United, do you seriously believe that remaining as owner of the club, as chairman of the club, with limited funds and no chance to bring in the players Neil Warnock wants to bring in, do you truly believe that not finalising this deal, not bringing this deal to a conclusion, is the right thing for Leeds United? I’m not sure that’s the case. So if I had the opportunity, I’d love to ask him in person.

There is no-one, more than me, that wants to get back to talking about football on the forums, in the social media, in the pubs, in the ground. Nobody wants to do that more than me. These last six months have been a real experience. Sadly, not a lot of that experience has been talking about performances, and I want to get back to that – we all do.

Leeds United fans, we share an ambition, a history, we’re really proud of it. We’d really like to get back to talking about that and some success on the pitch.

All I want to say is there is no point worrying about the take over.
The FACTS
- best manager we could have this season
- 10 new decent signings, possible 2 more to add
- money been spent on the squad
- Bates has kept his mouth shut and wants out

Based on these facts I'm still well up for this season, Bates has shown he wants out and it seems NW has been given more freedom and funds than SG ever got so if this drags on for a few more months so be it. Someone will buy and Bates will leave. Lets just support the lads and enjoy this season!

If Diouf did'nt have his attitude this would be a no brainer. Great footballer and more than an adequate replacement for Snodgrass. However Warnock is a very proud man and primarily i don't see him going back on his word. Furthemore there is nothing worse than a detrimental personality in a changing room, just look at Chelsea last year.

If Warnock can tame the man then he will be an inspired signing, if not leave him well alone i say.

just been looking at some of NW interviews and it seems that he thinks the keeper and back four are ok but not enough depth. the midfield is strong but lacking a wide man because paul green has been playing there and he would like more goals upfront and this will all come from selling players who are transfer listed.

I am not a member of LUST. There is talk that a lot of these anti LUST posts are coming from the Leeds United PR machine. I for one think there is a strong possibility of this due to the number of Anti LUST posts.
Any Leeds Fan who considers the evidence can see Bates bought our club in a bizzare set of situations that massively favoured his low bid, he did not save the club so much as acquired it out of the grasp of other investors.
LUST do not speak for me and were not elected but they are doing something positive that the vast majority of Leeds fans want ie trying to get real investors with a heart for the club in place.
Bates must go he has committed, no money, no love to our team and never will. Even if with the present squad gets us promotion he'll still want his pound of flesh above all. We'll never be anything with him here and we all must show him, by not giving him the one thing he seems to care about MONEY. Support the team but let it bleed dry until we rid the leech.

Believable9 Unbelievable5

No, I am just like most people, a genuine Leeds fan who can't see what value LUST add.

They've done nothing apart from foster disruption and, at times, tell barefaced lies. They hold no authority whatsoever and from what I can see are simply trying to be party to inside information.

I'm no Bates fan either, to be honest, LUST & Bates are as bad as eachother. Constant squabbling an "he said, she said" does nothing but cause trouble.

LUST created a blind panic yesterday by declaring that the takeover had "collapsed". On top of this been simply untrue, what did they hope to achieve ? Hardly likely to unite the fans and spread a happy feeling is it ?

Macca72

Agree11 Disagree5

Unlike the Leeds board, LUST is a democratic organisation. If you don't like what they're saying, why not join and express your views. Being democratic, the majority view prevails. This is what I don't get about people like you. You just don't seem to understand the concept of a democratic fans' group. It costs a fiver to join. Join - go along to meeting - express your views. Try doing that at Bates's board meeting and see what happens - the police will be called.

What comes out of LUST is the views of its many members. What comes out of LUFC is the view of Bates, a despotic autocrat.

Agree with the respondent. I'm also a Leeds fan that dislikes both lust and bates but lovely football team.

Bates doesn't need a pr team, he's got one called lust who 90% of the fans can't stand. Every time they open their mouths or bates does it divides us.

And who does the poster think he's addressing to say theirs a pr machine in place. I'm a half intelligent bloke, I don't need or want lust speaking on my behalf. Self elected and self promoting persons and they will be the death of our club.

Get back to just supporting the team, bates will sell or die soon and warnock will have us competing. Ignore everything else thats going down at the ER. It's like a circus to be honest and clowns left, right and centre.

I agree with some of the comments about the negative feedback we seem to get from LUST when they are not kept in the loop. Why should they be. They have no rights at all and should leave the day to day running of our LUFC to the club. All they seem to be doing is stirring up the sh*t between him (them?) and Ken Bates. Why not but out for a bit and let things run their course.

Right first off I hate Bates, but going to stick up for him a little here. LUST say take over broken down, why Bates? or could it be this Arab group dont have cash, they didnt last time. Feel that LUST and Bates are having a personal war and it poss' damaging any take over and def' damaging our club, so will you give it a rest. Personally want Bates out and LUST to just go away.

Believable9 Unbelievable4

I agree it may not be Bates' fault but that was a bad example saying the Arabs might not of had the money as the OS stated that it had been proven they have the funds to keep Leeds United secure in the future. having been involved with investment and buyout before, it is common to put a dead line on the dudiligence process, i have expected this was coming, obviously bates is not desperate to sell and wants the best deal for him and the club, anyone who questions that is stupid.

this deal will go ahead, if i was the buyer i would also have exceeded the deadline to see what extra i could get. bates is going to get what he wants and hats off to him. i predict that the deal will be done within two weeks, if the buyer was not happy with any findings in the dudilgence they would have pulled out. my message to all leeds fans is stop listening to the lust as they don't have access to all the details, and keep positive as we have a squad here that will take all the beating, the takeover will take place. mot kevin leeds 50 years

Ken Bates still keeping stum,no statements from him even on the propoganda station ( Yorkshire Radio ). This tells me things are still happening and not dead in the water. Lets hope I am right, will be gutted if it all goes PeteTong at this stage. Bates simply hasnt got the financial clout to take us any further

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Good post. We all know Ken can't keep his vile opinions to himself. If the deal was definitely dead, Uncle Ken would be filling Radio Bates with claims of "Time wasting, Sheik Rub-a-Dub", he can't help himself. Of course he might simply wait for the Match program tomorrow or against Wolves to air his rancid views. But silence is golden where he's concerned, makes me think he's still hoping to do a deal. But let's face it, the contract will have been sat in front of him, and once signed effectively he will disappear from view, he's 80yrs old and times closing in, when he leaves Leeds he becomes irrelevant, that more than money will be the hardest task for the potential new owners to deal with.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken bates is estimated to be worth around £150 million.
I think he has more than enough financial clout if he wanted too, not that he needs to or ever has needed to invest in the squad, all he needed to do was not sell key players and let profit made by the club be spent by the club, sadly that will never or nor has been the case.

For all those who loves mates here is one statement he made and that alone should be the reason to get him out.
He said I own the club and don't care what the supporters say I will do things my way not yours.

Well to me that says it all.all he was after was picking up a cheap club stripping us of what talent we had for his gain and spending as little as he could getting us back in the prem to sell us for as much as he could.

Don't forget when he was chelsea owner he used to right regularly how much he hated Leeds and now he owns them.

Is it just me or does anyone else think we've signed quantity over quality do far with the exception of a few. I still think we need a quality cb to play alongside Pearce, we have plenty of cm but no width. We have Aiden (not end product) white and that's about it. What if he gets injured. I think N.w is going to play 4.2.3.1 this season so who fills the two wide berths. And we are short of a 20 plus goal scoring striker. Call me a pessimist but I can see a season of mid table mediocrity and N.W will be gone by Xmas. I hope not and I hope they prove me wrong I know N.W can get the best out of people but I don't think he is a magician. Get out of our club bates! Northampton white.

Believable6 Unbelievable12

I know I'll get slated but I agree. I think the squad looks different not better. The defence needed sorting and I do think we look more solid but a couple of injuries might undo that.

What bothers me is the lack of flair. McCormack isn't a done deal yet and without him we'd be in trouble. I can't see Bates allowing him to go on a free if he doesn't sign.

Since this time last year we've lost three players who can open up a defence with only one, Varney, brought in who looks like he can do that.

I'll be happy with 38 1-0 wins but I'm not sure the 1 will be coming from every game.

Agree5 Disagree8

I think we have signed some quality in defence for a change and a goalkeeper that has been through it all, this should solve our defensive issues what with Austin in as well we are looking a lot more solid than we were last season with Connolly RB Bruce CB etc.... I do however feel we need some creativity in midfield, we create nothing for our current strikers so what chance will a new striker coming in without these chances being created. MOT SussexLeeds

On lots of previous posts ive put this and agree with you.i think the squad players are better now but not the actual first team, especially in creative areas..shrew leeds

The main thing we need is a winger. This is why are strikers are getting no supply in the box. You can only score what is delivered and for me the answear right now could be Diouf for the time being. Love him or hate him. You can not mistake the lads got skill.
mot4life

Agree1 Disagree0

I think you underestimate some of the players. Take Norris & Varney for example, you can basically write off last season (much the same as when we we're relegated) Varney looks good, quite creative with an eye for a goal.

Norris is also seen as a more creative hard working midfielder.

I agree that we don't have a Snodgrass replacement, and 2 high quality signings are probably needed to push us on, but i wouldn't go as far to say we have no creativity.

Agree2 Disagree0

Haha - yes - delusions of grandeur - had us winning the premiership with my 38 games..

0-0 will do fine for the other 8.

As for the 'specific' posting I didn't mean it in any literal sense. What I meant was that I don't care if we grind out results with a solid defensive display every game and win by the odd goal nicked on the counter. I just want to see us get out of this league this year of at all possible.

The problem being that we don't have the pace to play that way. And I stand by my comments on creativity - I think we're going to fall short on that score.

And the Reading comment is valid to a point but they had much better players and played proper football. If we had players like theirs I'd be expecting to win the league with 38 3-0s - and some other scores....

Some fans need to take a step back for a moment, I for one don't like Bates as much as the next person, but whilst all the talk of the takeover was happening and players were being bought such as Pearce, Kenny, Peltier etc etc, nobody slagged him off as players were being bought, now the takeover "May" have collapsed everyone has his face on their wanted posters again, we don't know where the money for transfers has come from, but at the end of the day, who cares.....Warnock has got the players he wants, he's spent some money, the Snodgrass money hasn't been spent on all of these players as he left after a lot of the signings were made, just sit back and wait and see what's happening, it could be worse the takeover could of collapsed in June, and we may not have signed anyone, at the end of the day we've made 10 signings all good squad players, have some faith Warnock knows what he wants and he'll achieve what he wants!! Come on Leeds!

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Did Warnock get the players he really wanted? Hi didn't get Ward and he hasn't got any of the three flair players he said he wanted. And many of us have continued to slag Bates off throughout...

Agree5 Disagree2

Well said! LUST now saying on twitter the deal is still on, they obviously being fed cr** and thought they would get everyone slagging bates off again! our great club doesn't need them or bates, warnock done a great job, signed are robust he needs to add two or 3 more which he will do in his on way, like putting the two up for sale yesterday, if we end up with Diouf for free but high wages and a stop striker and cranie is jig saw will be complete, he may add a couple of loan signings and we have a couple of great kids and he as just used is contacts and not takeover money! if that then comes off by Christmas and we are doing well, we can buy again. Its not what we all want but we are in a better place than last year, grayson wouldnt have been able to get the likes of Austin, Varney, Kenny, Pearce and Peltier. It is only my opinion and I feel we should have a Fans voice but they are too political in there views and one thing they are not doing is uniting the fans and surely thats what is should be about! o.w

Agree3 Disagree3

He will not achieve what he wants at this rate. The only thing that stopped people from talking about Bates, was the fact we was about to see the back of this leech. So there was no reason to say Bates out because he was goin. The only way Warnock would of got the players he wanted, was through the takeover goin through. I for one am not stupid in thinking this this takeover stall is someone elses fault but Bates.

I agree with NW decision to get rid of Pugh if it means salary capacity for new player widens. White new Pugh so no great loss but I can't support his decision to do that with RR. He has been injured but he's a very good prospect. He will only do well at a rival. Surely Barn Door and Connolly imminent departure would be enough along with Pugh to finance Diouf or Maynard. Pugh leaving also opens door for youth team but I can't fully support selling Rogers.

Believable12 Unbelievable0

Pughy was a massive waste of £500,000 and that one was defo down to Grayson. So would not be sad to see the lad go. The Robbie roggers thing is abit different. He did really get a chance to show us what he could do but i guess we have to go with Warnocks decision. The man knows more then us on the matter and must of seen something, we people have not had the chance to see yet.

Grayson also signed some quality too - Gradel, McCormack, Somma to name but three, but you're right about Pugh - waste of money. Having said that, at the time I thought he'd be a solid, versatile signing and he looked good for a few games - couple of nice goals too. In fairness to all managers you can't always tell how a transfer will work out. As I said once before on here, who would have predicted the way it turned out with Brolin?

I know alot of people are saying, we don't want Diouf. I feel LUFC have always done well with these paticular type of players. Vinny Jones, Cantona, Bowyer in the champions league days to name a few. These type of players are winners and don't take kindly to looseing. A hot head keeps all fires burning brightly. At this point in time we are not in a position to be choosey.
He might have his little issues and that but one thing is for sure. He will deffinatly stand out in the crowd. When we played him at home. He was by far the best player on the pitch and he plays in more than one position. I can honestly see this lad goin from zero to hero.
If we all start to complain now, we might end up with a player, with half his skills. I really doubt that would make us feel better.

I just want to find out what peoples thoughts are towards bates. Me myself, is all for showing bates were the back door is. I know are fans are divided over loving bates or hateing bates. If people think its time for him to go, click believeable. If not click unbelieveable.
Thanks fellow fans for taking the time to fill in my poll.

All these side shows he's pumped are money into are all running at a lose. Player sales are the only thing that as kept are heads above water.

Dont love or hate him, sure he took us on cos he he could make money and enhance his pension pot, cant blame him at his time of life. Remember its just business as far as he is concerned, he has no emotional ties to the club, same as players and staff.

However he has defo taken us as far as he can and hasnt the financial muscle to take us to the next level so I for one would like him to go and soon
