Grella is an average player... We need better

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So is Nunez, so is Brown, So is Connolly, so is Paynter and so is Parker. We have a team of average players, but they are on below average wages so Ken is happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you compare the skillful, goal scoring Nunez to Billy Barn Door?

Agree0 Disagree0

Average players become good players sometimes great players under great managers that is the truth great players become bad players under poor managers simple example of that would be liverpool last season

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope Nunez can come good and I certainly think he is a better player than Paynter, but skillful....Mmm. His touch aint the best and he won't get the space he got in the Bradford game against better Championships teams.....Please prove me wrong

Leeds fans. Alan smith deal was on, then off according to bates.it will be revisited in January.Alan smith agreed to join Leeds.Alan smith agreed to consider anything Leeds would offer.Newcastle offered him on a free.then his agent agreed a deal with Leeds.but nelwcastle then wanted an extra 1.2m for the wages they owed him.they would not cut there losses, Leeds said hang on, we can get smith free at the end of the selason....so stuff it. Alan smith argued you like it or not is returning to Leeds.it will be revisited in January. Also Simon cox agreed a 6 month loan deal on Monday, he was on 22k a week. The club agreed to subsidide his wages.but his agent stepped in and wanted a hefty fee. Bates said deal already agreed if he doesn't turn up wi his boots on Tuesday then deal is off. Deal is off.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

How sure are you about this? I'm not convinced Bates is tight nowt will change in January

Agree0 Disagree0

Re the Smith comments - asked the usually pretty reliable Nufc rumours site ed for his thoughts:-
{Ed042's Note - Havnt paid all that much attention to the Smith saga tbh mate, knew he wouldnt be near the first team this season regardless, but from what I know Leeds wanted us to foot a significant percentage of his wage, approx. 30%, we didnt want to, wanted him off the books all together.. where is this £1.2m figure coming from? if hes been sold on a free you are not required to pay up his remaining contract, and I cant imagine we owe Smith £1.2m in wages so seems very unlikely.. only way we would have to pay a severance fee is if he was being released from contract, reason we didnt release Joey last week, would have been owed approx. £3.1m}

LUFC

they say the proof is in the pudding.... simon grayson has repeatidly said he feels this group of players are better than the group last season Yet we let players such as bradley johnson go, and replace him with michael brown who by the way has not played well for us yet during pre season or against saints or bradford, in my opinion and a lot of other fans i spoke to at the bradford game he is a total liability... so, if this squad is better than last season why wasnt our first 11 good enough to beat saints and why was our " in depth " players only just good enough to beat a side who will clearly struggle in league 2? clearly there are some porkys being told to the fans from simon grayson and mr bates
it seems they have a nack of being able to spin us a tail about " another signing is iminent.." over and over just as the fans grow restless to take the heat off them self, what happend to the days when we were a club that told the truth to our devoted fans that travel the length and bredth of the country in our thousands come rain or shine week after week? surely as fans of such loyalty we deserve better and to be kept upto date when we subscribe to LUTV to find out such news about our club, yet we are let down time and again... so i apologise for the rant but as a loyal fan to a great club I belive I speak for thousands of leeds fans when I say MR BATES, ITS LONG OVERDUE THAT YOU START TELLING US THE TRUTH ABOUT OUR CLUB WE PAY OUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO FOLLOW AND LINE YOUR FAT POCKETS, AND STOP WITH THE EXCUSES OF WHY PLAYERS HAVNT BEEN BROUGHT IN TO MOVE OUR CLUB ONTO THE NEXT LEVEL IN ORDER TO GET PROMOTION stop cheating our club, get out

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Good rant, I bet you feel better for posting it,Your right it's been 48 hrs this, premiership player that,2 midfielders imminent , big striker wanted to sign, agents dictating, were sick of hearing all the bulls**t just want some honesty because the fans haven't got a clue what's going on.

McCartney to West Ham- good signing

Matt Derbyshire to Forest- GREAT signing at this level

Keith Andrews- apparently to Ipswich on loan soon.

We have also missed out on a number of players all of whom would have been good, and reasonably attainable HAD WE BEEN AMBITIOUS-

Earnshaw
Bowyer
Shackell
Spector
Greening

We just can't compete to get players on board. It's humiliating. Feeling down about the season. Come on SG and KB.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

It's alot to do with the manager and club stature. Leicester, forest both have ex England mangers there and have shown ambition in the players they have targeted. West Ham and Ipswich have proven premier league managers who have a great CV, both boards at these clubs have confidence is these great managers and have shorn this by backing their spending. Players look at the managers, the ambition and wages and ate attracted to that......

As the chant goes, "were not famous anymore" we don't have a classy experienced manager, we don't have any pedigree anymore. Our club is still in debt, a lot of people think were debt free, but obviously don't understand what a CVA is. We have nothing worthy of attracting players.

Our chairman spends more time slagging everyone else off that he has a disagreement with. Only thing he ever speaks out on is the wrongs people have supposedly done to us. When have you ever heard him talk about the football and the clubs aspirations?? Let a lone show any intent.

Need I say anymore as to why we don't attract any players worth anything? I mean would you play for us? The best thing about our club at the minute is the fans...........and we can only do so much

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of what you are saying is true about attracting players but we are are a massive club (in this league) with a fantastic fan base. Don't kid yerself mate. For lots of players who's current clubs don't have faith in them anymore or for young hungry players who want to prove themselves, we would be a dream club to come to. The truth is our chairman will not deal with the greedy c***s who represent them. Whilst I understand what Bates is saying & I understand his point. If we don't deal with these parasites for decent players other teams will. I don't want to pay over the odds BUT I would rather do that & fight @ the top of the table then fight at the bottom.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post and the first response is spot on.Bates has no interest in the team or the fans

Agree0 Disagree0

We can't even listen to the match on a local radio station that's accessible to us all because bates has fallen out with everyone and taken his bat and ball home...

Agree0 Disagree0

Ipswich did well last night didn't they?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea in a mickey mouse cup with sn under strength side. They did well in the league didn't they. How did we do??

snoddy scores for the jocks, now start doing it in a leeds shirt,

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Probably get injured, if you have watched it at least he looks interested for once should have took £5m and bought four or five new players

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt SG would have taken the money for a player who clearly wants out but knows the money would dissolve as usual. He has to run down contracts because KB gives him nothing all to reinvest. Can't blame our best players wanting to leave, if we are peed off at lack of investment how do our players feel. Anyone who has played at any level will understand how they feel when our rivals sign quality and we sign Brown and loan O'Dea both players nobody else wanted

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully the international goal will put a few more quid on his value

10 Aug 2011 20:31:40
So 22K a week is too much for leeds, what do we think of this?
I can name 4 players in our current team worth this

Believable4 Unbelievable0

22k a week have you seen clubs wage bills in the premier league, many teams wouldn't dream of paying 22K a week in the prem. So why should we in the championship are you crazy, it's all good if the gamble pays off but teams have spent so much money this season. West ham, Ipswich, Leicester, then you have newly promoted teams Southampton, Brighton, the league has still has other stong teams like Forest, Cardiff, Reading, maybe just maybe KB and SG said this season we will make do they looked at what other teams have spent and the squads and thought we are good enough with what we have we'l give the kids ago and see what happens. Only 3 teams can go up the other teams that have gambled on getting promoted will suffer ad leeds will be in a healthier position next year.

Or maybe KB doesn't think SG is the right man and is waiting for the team to fail then he will appoint what he see's as the right manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2011 20:22:05
I'd still have Smith back,I reckon it would give the club a massive lift, doesnt look like anyone else wants him so he may as well come home.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Nufc are nuts keeping him on and paying £60k a week but expecting a championship team to pay £20k to a player who has a question mark over fitness and hey I'm his biggest fan. Hmmmm.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think a lot of people on this site and on the banter page are being a little unfair on Brown. Give the guy a chance. Don't forget he hasn't played since January due to a clause in his contract that would have triggered a big bonus payment. When he is totally match fit and he has blended with Howson and Clayton he will be good. We complain about the lack of spending. well who in this division apart from Leicester (money bags new owner), Ipswich (£10m in from Wickam) and West Ham (£10m parachute payment) have forked out a load of cash.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Get over yourself fella, did u not see the southamton game? he was absent. he is passed it, answer Bates OUT its his fault were having to sign cheapo rejects.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said but need new blood not many in premiership spent big only usual few, some have spent no money

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown played alright at bradford, parker and connolly should go always have said that. and use ob as back up. and it is true bought other clubs not spending much money guys. we should spend a bit though still time left though

ok so we can't afford £1m contribution towards a loan for an old boy where did the money go? corporate? What's the point when the team needs strengthening. Knew it was dodgy when we struggled attracting championship goalkeepers
Hmmmmmm

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Yes the team needs strngthening, but how would Smith strengthen it?this aint about money, its about attracting AND paying for the right players,if you honestly think Smith is worth a mllion pound your sadly mistaken, why do you think no-ones moved for him,its because hes passed his sell by date, and too mercenary to drop his wage demands, aahed rather rake the money in than play football, bit sad really.

McCartney to West Ham and Derry to Palace. OK McCartney wasn't the best at ER last year, but he is better than what we have now and why not take a punt at Derry maybe geography has something to do with it again, but he would have done a job.

It's far too early to declare we are doomed, but something has to be done. I was speaking with a guy at work who probably summed Leeds up. He reckons we over achieved last year. He reckons SG did better than was expected and let's face it I have seen many a post on here stating we were consolidating last season and mid table would have been fine. However, he said we over achieved. With that in mind if we don’t over achieve and we don't strengthen our squad what if we play as some pundits expect and finish mid table or under achieve and get dragged into a relegation fight. I argued we were too good to go down, but without a stronger squad we are going to struggle. The teams that gained promotion have hit the ground running, momentum maybe and the teams that have come down have decent enough squads to be there or there abouts. Leicester and Ipswich have spent, but we have not improved our squad. 2 keepers, 1 midfielder & 1 LB. We lost a lot of players some of which were squad players, but we promoted Clayton and co and hopefully they will click, but without new blood it’s gonna be hard. So did we over achieve last year? Is my mate just a cock and hopes we fall flat on our faces, or does he have a point. He’s got me thinking, let’s hope it’s just his wishful thinking.

looks like Newcastle will help fund Alan Smith's move to elland Road. Christ, they owe Leeds a few quid after all players they have had from Leeds.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Wouldnt you fund his move away?who the hell wants to pay a player like him 60,000 pound a week,we need players of much better quality than him, still he would gel well with the lkes of Obrien,Paynter and Parker, all of thr same ilk,s**te.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates came out and said they expected lufc to pay £1m towards wages so don't think this is true? What do you reckon Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

He was inspirational for Newcastle in the championship he wants to come back I think he could prove a lot of people wrong too bad nufc are being tight with wage demands :-/ although I do agree it'd help if Smith chipped in

We need to get rid of O'Brien asap. Hes appauling, he gave away 2 goals v southampton and 1 last night. The guy isnt good enough. Ben Parker also needs to go. fair enough he came through the youth ranks but we cant just keep him hoping he will follow in the footsteps of howson. Hes slow, and doesnt look good when with the ball. Get rid. And finally, get rid of Connolly. Give Lees a chance,he looked good. On a better note, Clayton was very very good

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I agree with you, but I don't understand what has happened to OB. Last season when he came in he sured up (Not fixed) a dodgy defence. Let's face it Bruce, Collins & Naylor were shocking. However, he has started this season shocking. Maybe it's just a case of him and Paddy don't play well together.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree clayton was are best player but i dont think that brown was any good he looked clumsy and altogether woeful we should just use clayton as a holding midfielder and have nunez and howson in the center in a free role

Agree0 Disagree0

lonergan

lees bromby paddy odea

brown

nunez clayton gradel

howson

mccormack

subs ; rachubka,o'b,sam,snoddy,paynter

only problem is odea and tom lees are better cbs than full backs which show we miss summet at lb and rb but both are solid enough to play fb roles , brown just tackles and stops there attackers by just sitting in front of cb's then you have clayton to do the box to box cm and get stuck in and create chances then howson plays just off ross but when we lose ball drop with clayton , nunez will just do what hes good at and so will gradel who helps defend aswell and if we play the ball on the floor we will see one of the best strikers in the league in ross he has a rocket and will play like second half v bradford snoddy if he gets his act together with his fitness then will replace nunez maybe but he doesnt look like he wants to play anymore for us and nunez has alot of energy and scoresalot of goals
this is my opinion on leeds hope you agree cmon leeds

The management of our great club is in total turmoil.
Clearly Grayson and Harvey are not on the same page. Simon needs to step up and play the role of manager of Leeds Utd or frankly we are doomed. Shaun Harvey and Uncle Ken are not backing him and he seems too scared to go out on a limb and demand better. Is he scared he can't deliver? Scared of losing his job?
Well, the fans are still behind Simon - so he needs to push the issue now before it is too late. If he delays we all know that Ken will dig in and isn't going anywhere. At that point in worry that the fans will turn on the manager

As the self proclaimed LUFC fan that Simon clearly is - NOW IS THE TIME FOR ACTION

We are tired of being short changed
This is LEEDS UNITED
The fans deserve better
The badge deserves better

Time for all at the club tom put up or shut up

I never want to hear about greedy players or agents ever again from KB

Who is he kidding? Do we think he isn't in it for the money

Lets see how we perform against middlesboro in ar next match based on our last 2 games iv been pleased with clayton he looks a good player we need 2 sort the defence out tho what a shambles 1 more cb some 1 with leadership skills who can organise a solid line of defence is needed we seem to not have a problem geting goals 7 in last 3 games inc friendly against newcastle then southampton, bradford so dont think we need any forwards.we have conceded 7 if we go on like this expect a mid table finish we need 3-4 mil spent on our defence then mabi a play off place but u need the players to gel which we have had all summer 2 sort out but havent.youngylufc

can't blame Smith here blame the blinkered idiots that are nufc they don't want him but are prepared to pay him £60k a week for a year to do sod all but wouldn't negotiate with Leeds on a loan deal as they wanted a £1m contribution. Grrr

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Grrr,Smith again, its dead and buried bud, leave it alone, didnt you read that he said he never considered coming back to Leeds, hes driven by money and would rather play for the stiffs at Newcastle than go elsewhere for less money, hhes had his time at Leeds,we want much better than him.

Grayson says on the official website "The one frustration is that we still can't get away from the fact we are giving teams opportunities. Their first we could have done something about, their second we couldn't." This worries me that Grayson feels their is nothing we could have done for the second goal....how about O'Brien doesn't make basic error on the halfway line & doesn't give the ball away, again. Sort it out Grayson. Lees looked a lot better than O'Brien

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Agree sort it SG the problem is he cant

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at the game and the second goal could of been avoided if obrian was in his postion but no yet again he messed up. The was only scores as obrian left kisnorbo on his own.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2011 12:34:56
Just saw the end of game interview with Grayson on sky. Why after last season is he still making the same excuses about defence, blaming concentration, lack of experience with supposedly experienced defenders and being frustrated. Minus two players that was our first string side, it's a sorry state of affairs that after a first season in the championship we have achieved nothing in terms of righting the wrongs. So whose fault it?? I have point the finger initially at Grayson. He pucks the side, he saw how woeful O'brien was on Saturday, but yet still puts him in the side. We have made no transfers Pre-season to rectify this or build on the team we had last season and if anything we are weaker defensively than ever.

I was extremely pleased to see that our midfield controlled the game and passed the ball, but that was against a technically inept Bradford city side.

You can call me "one of those moaners." but I am a realist and like most others can see exactly what is lacking, reflected in Saturday's performance. Boro at home will be the real test. Emnes scored a hat trick, be interesting to see how our defence copes with that

Believable4 Unbelievable1

10 Aug 2011 12:19:57
anyone else feel that paul connonly is one of the worst right backs going? watched him last night hes got the worst positioning ever. tom lees had more composure on ball and set up the 2nd. that defence needs suring up because O'Brien looked w**k last night. if we are gonna go anywher in this league that defence is main priority

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Parker's worse than anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2011 10:53:25
My thoughts on last night's game...

Lees proved last night what have all kown for a long time...The lad is class

Our back four istantly looked more solid when the changes were made, Bromby if given a run in the side alongside Paddy could surprise us all, he is quite decent in his own right The same could be said about Bruce. I'm afraid though that we seem to be carrying Connelly, and Lees proved what we are missing at right back. Parker was poor, he seemed to struggle with ball at feet and lacked a little concentration...Maybe that's a bit harsh as it could just be down to match fitness, but he doesn't seem to me to be the player he could be yet. With the injuries he's had, will he ever get to show that potential we saw a few years back?

Clayton and Howson together in middle of the park, drop Brown, switch to a 442.

Impressed with Sam, long time out injured, almost looks to be the player he was at start of last year.

Nunez looks sharp, but if he isn't gonna use that left foot of his then he'll be not much more than a great impact player (fancy him to do what Gradel did last year, as in not player particularly well but get improtant goals when needed).

McCormack needed his goal last night (what a ball from Lees by the way) and you could instantly see his confidence lift.

Paynter, Becchio and Somma all injured...Now I know Simon Grayson is cheesed off with him over the Swindon thing, but Grella has knuckled down since coming back and been on fire in reserves...Anyone with me to give him another chance? On that note, seeing as were short of striking cover at present, are we signing Felix Luz? Willhe be worth signing?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

How many more dire performances from the likes of Parker,Obrien, and paynter when fit before SG finally does something ,even Bradford cut through us at will,we are not as strong as last year,if he had bought or loaned well last xmas we would have got one of the automatic promotion places, instead weve gone backwards,to lose both our main strikers and not replace even one of them is poor management,Parker and Obrien will get skinned week in week out,we need pacey full backs who can tackle,a solid CB,and a proven goalscorer,we have spent bog all on improving the squad,SGs stubborn backing of players not up to the job is alarming, makes you wonder if he did have some money to spend, would he have the ability to bring the right players in,judging by most of his loan signings I think not, hope Im proved wrong, but his excuses have distinct touch of deja vous, the best coaches in the world couldnt sort our defence out, need quality, not quantity.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2011 10:45:36
To be honest I don't think we need a right back Tom lees could do the job there no problem he linked well with sam down the right wing and bromby did hole lot better than obrian he won every ball as soon as bromby and lees came on the hole team played better

After 2 games played this new season the root
cause of the problem is O'Brian and Connoly.OB
is not match fit,too slow, cannot position himself
well. Connoly has no pace. That is why Leeds
conceding so many goals. Pace is the name of
this game now.The defence should be RB -Lees,
LB- Bromby,CB-Kisnorbo and O'Dea.The midfield consists of Howson,Clayton, Gradel on LW and
Snodgrass on RW. The forward be Maccormack
and Nunez. That leaves Brown out.Slot him in only when Clayton or Howson is injured. There strong enough. If Lichaj or Chris Herd is brought in Simon have more options.Kisnorbo just back from injury
so needs time to adjust. A concerned Leeds fan.

What did the unconvincing win against a very average league 2 prove? O'brian,Connelly and Parker are not up to the job. Without a good target man up front who can pressurise defences and hold up the ball we lack the skills to dominate and create in midfield. Brown doesn't give us what we we want. He has the agression that we lacked last year but we have sacrificed passing ability and skills going forward. In effect we are worse off
than last year. At least then we had the ability to score more goals than our leaky defence let in now that looks doubtful. I can see us getting hammered by decent championship outfits and I cant see us us bringing in any real quality. We will continue to get only those players that nobody else in the Championship wants and who will therefore work for Ken's wages. In a club of Leeds size we should should have a reserve striker to cover for Bechio and not have to completely change our shape and style if he's absent. McCormack, Nunez, Somma, Gradel can all score but they are not target men and we are not getting the best of them in the formation shown against Bradford. Paynter is the right 'type' of player but not nearly good enough. I think we will struggle because there is still much to do to bring us up to speed and I cant see us attracting the quality we need. You cant develop a team with loanees and older players who are past their best. Been watching Leeds for many years and will continue to do so but these are worrying times in terms of football even though financially we appear to be ok providing we dont buy any quality players. Lets hope our youngsters can do a job when they are old enough

Absolutely the most accurate post i've read on here....spot on mate

Why are leeds set up like long ball team why can't we play to feat and work the chanels, why is it always knock it long tactics, I hate the way we rely on becchio and I hate the way our reliance on him makes us into a long ball look for the knock down team I like becchio he's been a revelation but leeds are very one dimensional under SG and teams can predict how we play because of this it often means our mf our often missed out and that means when we don't pick up the 2nd ball our formation is all over the place and it doesn't help the DF, players like gradel, sam, nunez McCormack make smart runs but the ball never comes

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm apart from the goal parker played well, made some good tackles went up the pitch etc but other than that i agree

Agree0 Disagree0

"Parker played well"......are you taking illegal substances??

Bromby is rubbish, yes we played better last night when he came on but thats cos OB & Connolley are shocking. But how many time do you see Bromby try to start aggro with someone for no reason, the blokes a joke, I just one these guys sooner than later just drops the puff. What is it with SG and buy these so called Leeds Fan, I am a fan can I have a game, Larry I love leeds and I am technically s**t a football can I play. Lees looked Great, start him on Sat

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I reckon he targets Leeds fans as they will sometimes accept lower wages

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha true there's 30k leeds fans that wana play my legs broke at the mo can i play haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Complete muppett bromby as done well when called upon last season and has had a good pre-season give the guy a chance he deserves his place at the side of paddy,SG doesn't buy players just because the support Leeds you tit

Agree0 Disagree0

If bromby is that good why is he always over looked by Larry in favour of OB, who we all know doesn't have the legs, bromby has anger issues, bit like yourself, we all like players who give 100% and are aggresive, but it must be channelled aggression. Every one slags off brown against the saints on sat, for just kicking people. How long would bromby's pushing tatics, squaring up to people last before he gets sent off, Leeds down to 10, we stuggle to perform with 11 for christ sake, we can't afford idiots in the team, board room or stands. Not saying SG only buys because they support Leeds, but it does seem to be a factor, we should buy whos best for the team, I could care if they are Leeds or even scum fans. We have the best fans but not that many can actually kick a ball, and some are just T%Ts like yourself.

grayson has admited the defence isnt good enough, expect a rb and lb to arrive, odea and lees will be used in centre.

also jonno greening wanted to sign for leeds, and was asking for 14,000 a week. leeds wouldnt go near that sum, so forest snapped him up.

Chris herd and eric lichaj to join on season long loans before will be in squad for boro game

Team for saturdays game:
Lonergran
Lees
Kisnorbo
Bromby
O'Dea
Snodgrass
Clayton
Howson
Gradel
Nunez
Mc'cormack

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Lloyd Sam deserves to keep his place above Snoddy at the moment. Give Rachubka a shout?

Agree0 Disagree0

With that midfield lets hope we have 80% of possession then...without the ball were gonna get mullered

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats the best 11 we can put out at this moment in time, with nunez playing off mc'cormack

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully shift O'Dea to the centre with a new left back.

At present we have a back one but if SG is brave Lees could make a back 2 All leeds fans with a brain know this and we don't get paid millions to sort it

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Get kilgallon back would be a snip sunderland want him off the wage bill

Thats because he is crap like bromby

was at the game tonight, first half was woeful. imo we need a cb to replace obrien, he is past it and not fit to wear a leeds shirt. a RB a LB a CM brown isnt the type of player we want, we need to be playing decent football like we was last season not kicking the s**t out of whoever has the ball, i think howson and clayton will work well together this season. we also need a striker who can actually score goals, offload billy paynter hes had his chance as far as im concerned, hope becchio makes a quick recovery as he is desperately needed upfront

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Nunez can score goals

Agree0 Disagree0

AOB was woeful at the back las night. I reckon I could beat him over 20 yards and I'm 55. Leeds looked in trouble every time Bradford came forward, up until the time he was replaced. When Lees and Bromby came on the whole game changed. We never looked in trouble at the back and this reflected on the way the rest of the team played. We were able to push the ball around and at one point strung together 20 or more passes. In context it was against a division 2 side so its what I would expect. O'Brien just isn't good enough even against that sort of opposition let alone Championship sides. If SG picks him for saturdays game then I will lose what little confidence I have left with him as a manager. Come on Simon restore my faith in you

personally, after watching the last 2 matches, i think we've got a decent keeper, i think the answer to the midfield is howson and clayton in the middle because they both look solid, good going forward and defending, nunez looks good playing off the striker so all we need is a CF on loan untill bechio and somma are back from injury and all we need is a left back, maybe centre back ( depending on how o'dea shapes up and where he's best playing ) and maybe right back.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

So all we need is a striker on loan...

...and a left back...

...and a centre back...

...and a right back?

And probably a couple of players to provide cover?

I can just see Bates shelling out some of his ill gotten gains on that.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that happend we'd have a good promotion chance. its up to bates if he wants to finish mid table

SG on Yorks Radio saying that the 5th signing not happening as player's club have changed their mind??

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Aye, his club pulled out when they heard Bates was only willing to offer £20.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh lets have a moan about bates that's gona mak him want to spend more money, high wages inflated transfer fees isn't the answer having good manager/coahes would be a start

Thomas Brolin to sign to cover striker injuries pending ongoing talks with Macron regarding sourcing a suitably sized kit. Source a former colleague at Ginsters who have been asked to part fund the deal. Click believable if you think this is as likely as most of the suggested signings on here :)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Frank Strandli to join him and provide some cover?

Let's not get carried away eh........we were put the sword by a mid table league two side. Yes we won and to be fair it was pleasing to see us actually pass the ball around in midfield and control The game there, seems it's finally been noted that the answer from kick off is not to hoof it away immediately loosing possession

Howson, clayton and Sam actually looked like they wanted to pass a ball and attack. Brown was virtually a ghost and Nunez looked like having lots of potential. Still a paper thin squad though. What annoys me is cone Saturday against boro, Grayson will forget about tonight's performances and revert to putting snodgrass straight back into the side.

Decided not to mention defence.....I looked it up in the dictionary and well, O'brien, Parker and Connelly need to do the same.

Desperately need a LB, RB and CB........

But didn't we know this last season when our against tally was as high as our for??

Believable2 Unbelievable1

He should certainly play Gradel on saturday but Snoddy probably on the bench (even though he is probably our best player he didn't perform Saturday) unless he shows something special for scotland tonight.

Lees should play RB at least for now as Connolly is and always has been terrible. Personally I'd like to see White at LB and O'Dea in for O'Brien otherwise Bromby in for O'Brien (despite Bromby being a L1 quality player).

SG arrogant why did he only name 6 subs and not the full 7? could have given Grella that place or a young academy player the match day exp SG just makes really anoying decisions

Believable1 Unbelievable2

If Grella had any doubt about his future - SG did not want to cup tie him

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct. Grella is woeful and the club have made it clear they don't want him but nobody has yet come in for him. That will be even less likely if he were cup tied. Same for Bessone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Grella is far better than Paynter SG hasn't give him a chance to play just like he hasn't given sam or lees or white a chance, why give Grella squad number then. Also why not name a striker on the bench even a youth product without giving players a chance you will never develop them SG = Numpty

Agree0 Disagree0

A striker was due to join the squad on loan last night, didn't show up. there was no replacement ready so nothing he could have done.

I was at the game tonight as i will be all season (home and away season ticket holder) and i can't wait for the middlesborough game for the part-time fans singing bates out to piss off. Funny how it's bates's fault when we're losing but then nobody mentions him when we're winning. Even worse is that then people sing one simon grayson, get a grip It's grayson who hasn't got a clue, bates doesn't trust him with his money and i don't blame him.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yer, well where is the so called money then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you'll find at 3-2 last night, you could still clearly her you chelsea B45t4rd get out of our So it is mentioned when we are winning.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates has starved the team of investment. He's stealing OUR money and destroying OUR club. That doesn't change because we win a match despite him.

If you support bates then you are no fan of Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Protesting against bates on match days makes you a leeds fan does it I don't think any leeds fan thinks that bates is the best chairman but he isn't to blame for the team performance, also SG has so many average players on the wage bill that he should be selling SG makes his own problem for that reason why are players like bessone, connolly, bromby, paynter, parker in the squad they eat wage budget and they could bring in more revenue you could even add o'brien and brown to that list but i don't think either are fit, and if Grella isn't wante why give him squa number grella is far better than paynter SG is the problem thats needs fixing because with no buyer bates will always be there but under SG the leeds team haven't performed since february and only SG can take the blame for that
