For me, the decision to remove Thompson is because of one of two reasons. First, the club is clearing the decks for a takeover in the summer and the new owner(s) will want to bring their own people in which will eventually include Redfearn stepping down from his role as head coach. The second reason could be down to Cellino meddling again. Does Cellino see Thompson as the reason for our upturn in form and thus (in his eyes) weakening the believed effect that Redfearn was having on the team?. On this basis it would seem an odd move to remove Thompson but not if the result put's Redfearn under the spotlight for the rest of the season or makes his position untenable as he already has the next 'no mark' lined up to take the top job. I was never convinced that Cellino was keen on Thompson in the first place as it took him so long to agree to recruit him, I would also be interested to know Cellino's thoughts on the tactical change away from his coverted diamond formation and not using a significant number of players he brought to the club in the second half of the season i.e. Adryan. As the use of these players aligns with Cellino's past strategy of obtaining players cheaply and selling for millions. Yes, possibly crazy conspiracy theories but we are not owed by a man known for rational thinking. Benjamin Franklin quoted "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes". I would also add "and Leeds United shooting itself in the foot"

I don't believe it is for any of the reasons NottsWhite. I got sources inside ER and the best they can glean is that Thommo has been suspended for "arrogance and rudeness". He has apparently been spouting the truth about the failed regime with silly formation, over investment in Italian imports, using unknown coaches etc. These comments were part of a discussion about transfer targets made worse of course by Cellino's own suspension. Thommo apparently told Salerno the hard truth and kept reminding him the club's upturn coincided with his appointment. He said this for good of club and to persuade Salerno concerning transfer targets. Salerno interpreted it as insubordination and undermining his authority. More than just a personality clash it is fundamental stuff and goes to the core of how the club is run which is badly. It's what I call "Caesarism". Not giving up some power when it is blatant you need to to make things work. No coincidence Salerno and Cellino are Italian. Redders is a more mild mannered guy so he is able to put up with their antics but he is most displeased about Thommo. I suggest the fans voice their displeasure to get Thommo back and to get the Italians to change their ways. So guys it is as petty as that. No giant scandal. However, it is also fundamental stuff. They don't forgive someone getting too big for boots, meanwhile they run the club the wrong way. It's Yorkshire not Sardinia.

Agree with you George. Pretty obvious who was calling the shots at the start of the season , picking teams ,formations.
Salerno has obviously had his nose put out by the Redders and Thommo and is not happy. How true is the tale about Ant,extending his contract if he scores 12 goals? ridiculous surely you want strikers who score and want to keep them. Nothing good is going to come out of this, we seem to be very good at one thing and that's shooting ourselves in the foot. For all the good that Cellino has done financially for the club, may be it is time for him to walk away and take his Mafia with him?

Thanks for the information George. The more I think about this fiasco, the more it seems clear that Salerno's ego is a big problem. He brought the foreign contingent of players to the club and obviously didn't take too kindly to ST telling him some home truths.
Most of those players haven't got what it takes to get promotion and our improvement in results has coincided with ST's arrival at the club. Salerno can't accept this even though it's patently obvious.
Redders has already commented that Cellino vastly under-estimated the quality of the Championship last summer, Cellino has accepted that fact Salerno hasn't.
It's rumoured that Salerno is leaving in the summer, let's hope that is true and that Cellino changes his ways too otherwise there will be constant turmoil at LUFC. MOT Speedo4Eva.

Usually agree with Notts, definatly agree with George & Tewey, don't usually agree with Ausman (but do this time). Have always believed in MC but now having grave doubts & could be time to say thanks for everything but now you're losing the fans & it's time to go. Just when the future starts to look good we implode & I fear for the future regarding Mowatt, Cook et al. Disappointed and worried from a guy whose glass is always half full.
