Sell Wood £20m and buy our stadium back.

Would keep Wood, buy the stadium next summer with those sweet Prem fat stacks, rather than sell him, buy the stadium and stay down. Lot of money for him but how many 30 goal strikers are about?

Not many strikers in his calibur. But how do we know he's going to do the same next year? Also could get 2 champ level strikers for wood. On the other hand, monk has faith in him and he loves the club. For the papers o speculate like this makes the player concerned that the fans would rather have the money than the player, meaning if he does stay he may not perform as well. Need to be careful because he may lose confidence through all these sell wood posts

Its cost us £5m a year since 2010 to rent Elland road and thorp arch you do the math.

No wonder we are skint, we are giving someone £5m a year when the rent is only £1.6m, which is how much Cellino said the club was shelling out when he was meant to buy it back. Ok if you want to do math, and I'll use the £5m figure though its wrong, if we sell Wood (+£20m) and buy back ER (-£17m) and save £5m in rent we will come out £8m better off for the season but lacking a top striker (which will cost a lot more than £8m to replace. If we keep Wood (-/+£0m) and pay rent (-£5m) but go up (worth like £90m now right? ) then buy ER (-£17m) we have over £65m and we are in the prem. Prefer my way. Always a risk we don't go up of course but I would fancy our chances more with the top striker, we have to roll the dice at some point if we want to reach the next level.

Bartley, Cairney, McGeady and Abraham could be bought with 20 million along with a good championship LB, CB and striker

Fulham have put a £20m price tag on Cairney so I doubt it GM

Gummie you are forgetting the renting out of Elland road. Rod stewart was at Elland Road we don't get a penny think about it.

Might not be £5m but i know renting is wasted money.

I agree renting is bad, just saying there is a time and a place and selling one of our best players to do it isn't the way, if our hand is forced then yeah, fine but you could also say that we wouldn't have been selling out the stadium without Wood up front last season, how much extra did we take at the turnstiles from that? could easily have offset the rent. can't see us taking nothing from the Rod Stewart thing, we are renting the place, they can't just use it for other stuff, it would be like renting an office and the owner showing up to play ping pong on one of the desks every month. Cellino might have taken the money and the club nothing I guess, he is/was paying the rent, but not the owners.

Me personally i would like to keep Wood but £20m is £20m. That is a stadium and i would choose owning our stadium over 1 player. just my opinion Gummie

on the Rod Stewart thing they can we only rent it for matches. the owner let's us use it for 23 games a season so he can do what he wants the rest of the time.

We rent it for the full season mate, if it was just for 23 games they would kick our staff in the offices, bars and the shop out 333 days of the season. I would choose the stadium over 1 player but I would choose promotion over the stadium in the short term because it would lead to it in the long term, if one player could bring us that, right now its Wood.
