Harte to Leeds after being released (daily star)

1.) 16 May 2013
We have Warnock, do we need another experianced left back? save the wages for a player than can contribute in other areas!

2.) 16 May 2013
It completely depends on what kind of money he wants and if he is happy to play 2nd fiddle to warnock. He would be good for set pieces last 20mins if we need a goal, but as backup can't spend too much on him

3.) 16 May 2013
What planet are you on. Leave the ex players in the past. No longer good enough for us

4.) 16 May 2013
If harte comes back, we might awswell bring woodgate, smith and healy back.

All be it I would like carson back

5.) 16 May 2013
Harte was never best with pace in his prime and is certainly not good enough for the Championship today. As already been said we are more than covered at left back with Warnock and Drury so forget about past glory days and players involved and move on to getting more needed players

6.) 16 May 2013
All you people saying players are "not good enough for us anymore" make me laugh! We are not a top premiership side anymore. Who do you expect us to sign? Messi, aguero or maybe Ronaldo? Be realistic.

Yorky

7.) 16 May 2013
He would be a great signing for you, he is one of the best free kick and corner takers in the game.

8.) 16 May 2013
Why have a go at the original poster he was just say what the newspaper reported which was Defender Ian Harte, 35, is considering a return to former club Leeds United after being released by Reading.

9.) 16 May 2013
If warnock is good enough then harte for sure is. dump warnock and get harte in he offers far more, scores goals sets them up and is just as good at defending as warnock

10.) 16 May 2013
Harte has always been an underrated player. His only shortcoming has always been his lack of pace, but lots of other players are not slated as mercilessly for their single shortcoming. In my eyes, his fantastic left foot -crossing and shooting-always made up for that lack of speed. Haven't seen him play properly since the back end of the last season (when Reading were promoted), so not sure what his recent form has been like. He was certainly performing well then. My other reservation now would be the fact that we bought Warnock (who personally I did not think we needed, with White and Drury already there) -4 left backs would be excessive. All things being equal, of the 4, if it came down to a straight choice (and all were maintaining form) I would personally pick White and Harte. For what it's worth. Chapel A

11.) 16 May 2013
Just get EHD to win lots of freekicks just outside the box and Hartey can pop em in- good bench member

12.) 16 May 2013
Harte stated on his own social network account he won't be going back to leeds

13.) 16 May 2013
Harte better than Warnock? Warnock is miles better than Harte!

14.) 16 May 2013
We didn't want him last time, what has changed? Please let's try for a little youth.

15.) 16 May 2013
Dout it he tweeted the other day he would stand a chance of getting in the team and we already have 3 good right backs

Ive no idea how good/fit harte is now. Judging on form in championship last season he's good enough, not as a replacement for warnock though that is ludicras! Surely drury has to go and harte as back up on 1 year deal and make him a coach after that.

17.) 16 May 2013
Or He could play in front of the back 4 good defensive ability as well as a brilliant set piece player with the obvious lack of pace. Hell i'd trust him more than micky brown anyday.

18.) 16 May 2013
I've every respect for Harte as a player but in Warnock we already have a better left back and good cover in Drury and White and Charlie Taylor coming through.

No point in spending wages in areas where we don't need to strengthen.

19.) 16 May 2013
He does score goals!

I think most of the people posting how good Harte is must have just seen video footage of his free kicks. I remember him as a s*** slow useless defender that cost us far more games than his free kicks ever won us. I would defy anyone to say he was a good defender.
Can anyone remember the game against Newcastle that he lost for us when Solardo slaughtered him and we through away a 3-1 lead when top of the league, lost that game and went on a horrendous run that cost us our Champions League place and the rest is history.
He only kept his place because Odeary loved him and he was Irish. Warnock is a far better player than he will ever be. When we are talking old players, let's bring back Lukic as well and he can blame the floodlights again when beaten from a shot from the wing like he did against Rangers in the European Cup.
Get over these has beens and move on.
Not blaming original poster as he just related what was in Papers.

21.) 17 May 2013
No one knows him better than brian McDermott if he signs him fine those dipping corners under bar could make all diference let alone free kicks white shay

22.) 17 May 2013
Ian Harte is an older version of Aidy White. He's great going forward, but can't defend for toffee. If we are going to be signing players on free transfers, then all it says to me is that GFH have no money, meaning that we are going to have to sell our best player, Sam Byram, to fund transfers of players that simply aren't good enough. I hope that I am wrong, but the proof is in the pudding.

23.) 17 May 2013
Am I the only one who realises that heart has been playing as a CB for years. if we did get heart it would not be as lb as he don't play there and has not played there for years. we do need good cb's although not sure if heart is a good cb? good with free kicks and has got team promoted and played in prem recently? might be worth a punt

24.) 17 May 2013
Lol warnock is an ok defender, harte is twice the player that's why even at his age he was still playing regular football for reading in the prem. for me I think harte and warnock should b our 2 at lb and we should get rid of useless drury and speed freak white. if harte joined though he would b 1st choice ahead of warnock that's for sure. adds far more to the team than warnock. leeds will b very lucky to get harte back tbh he can do better.

25.) 17 May 2013
Tv are now also saying this

26.) 18 May 2013
Ian Harte's lack of pace was always compounded by Harry Kewell's lack of support when we were being attacked down our left - the fact remains though he's not likely to have quickened up over the years and unless there's been a change that's passed me by we DO NOT have "Special Team" plays in football where Harte would be an asset.

27.) 18 May 2013
Good old Hartey (and Kewell) -always guaranteed to get the steam coming out of some people's ears! There's no one quite as unforgiving as the true fan! The guy who points out that Hartey's been appearing in the middle as well these past few years has a point too -lack of pace not necessarily such an issue there, if a player reads the game well and has pace alongside. Not saying I'd necessarily take him back at this juncture, but a Whites and Ireland servant who, I maintain, deserves respect. Chapel A

Good at taking corners? You're having a laugh. O'Leary persisted with him taking corners and they rarely got off the ground let alone made it into the box. Probably our worst player alongside Eric Bakke in what was otherwise a very good team. Even Beckham, who's not the quickest of players left him for dead and murdered us down that side on more than one occasion.
